Many many years around performance horses and never once did I see one who was supported with a therapeutic shoe for suspensory. This included my own who spent 7 months rehabbing. Thank you for sending out wisdom and helping people to learn about the holistic approach to rehab of this common injury .

The comment that really touched my heart was when you said "this horse is a pasture ornament." Obviously a well loved and well taken care of horse whose owners can be proud of themselves to get top notch hoof care for him.

My thoughts exactly. Growing up with horses, I dealt with a lot of farriers who fit the hoof to the pre fab shoe. It's refreshing to see someone who cares enough & has the knowledge to correct so many problems! Keep up the excellent work! Love your videos. Hello from TEXAS

I appreciate the craftsmanship that you are doing and explanations of what you are doing for these horses. I would love to see follow ups for some of those harder cases. Like cracked hooves or broken coffin bone. Just to see how they progress with their health. Thank you.

Always amazing to me what you guys can do!!!!! I sooooooo love horses!!! Had them for 29 years. Actually going out to ride in a little bit!!! Thank you for all you guys do for the horses!!! You are truly gifted by God!!! Question??? Why do you burn the shoe to the hoof??? Is it to kill bacteria???
@cubnation
@cubnation Жыл бұрын
Burning the shoe kills bacteria, and it seals the shoe in place properly. It also makes a mark on the wall of the hoof, so the farrier knows the the shoe is in the correct place with no unwanted pressure points on the sole. Sometimes after a farrier burns the hoof, you can see him go back and take some more of sole off. The burning mark shows exactly how the shoe will fit, and it makes a correct place for the toe clip, so that the farrier is making the shoe fit the hoof, and not the other way around. The shoe should always be an "extension" of the hoof.

General Question: Is it common that donkeys and mules have smaller/ thinner frogs in general? Or is it all based on the individual size of smaller breeds?

So what kind of shoe would you recommend in North Carolina... While the dirt is hard and she does go on the road, when it rains its mud for days. And with the ever-changing weather.... So its kind of darn if you do...

So I have a 30 yr old registered shetland pony with this issue. We keep him barefoot. Are you saying I should drop the heel to lower the angle? Any farrier please advise! I might add this pony has club hooves, but I can't recall if his hind are club or not.

Why does the farrier (or anyone) always tap the hammer on the anvil before the hammer actually hits the shoe?

@@flamefangstar impact. It may be a rhythm thing, but it seems like more than that. I've never seen a farrier answer the question, obviously. It would stand to reason that all blacksmiths do it , not just horseshoers.

Great job, this makes me want to go and forge some shoes! Only thing is I fear you're going to kill your hammer hand eventually with your forging technique. If you're curious I suggest looking up Uri Hofi. I'm gonna leave you with a Bible verse, the very words of the Lord and Savior: ”Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭39‬ ‭ESV‬‬ ! God bless
