The players essentially do pay the agents, because that money inevitably comes out of what the club can afford to pay the player, and the player is the one who determines his own value on the pitch. Anyone who has played Football Manager will tell you this.

Surprising that all the years of football, especially when we decided to pay players more in 1 week than most people make in 3-5 years, there still hasn't been anyone pushing to make the players pay for it, love football but money has ruined it and alot of "talent" merely show up do what they need to and laugh away from the cameras at how easy the money is. You do not need a agent,you need a good lawyer who can read your contract to make sure everything you asked for is in writing,you need a good accountant to make sure your tax is paid and you claim for everything you can.If you are a player like beckham that had a lot of deals for stuff outside football then you have a management company who will handle the deals for you and you pay them a cut,then you get your lawyer to look at the contracts and your accountant does his bit.The only thing you need to do is tell the club or company how much you want to play/work for them,if they say no,then you either walk away and go somewhere else or you work it out with them,it's simple,why use a agent? you can't trust him,he wants to make as much as he can for him,not you.
