Mustang GT *SURPRISING* Gas Mileage MPG in Highway/Holiday Weekend Driving

2 жыл бұрынI usually drive my 2019 Mustang GT Convertible around town and on short trips, and average around 13 miles per gallon (MPG). I took the Mustang on its first 'real' highway road trip, travelling 377 miles in 7 hours and 40 minutes, and averaged 27 miles per gallon - in combination city and highway driving.
I bought the GT version of the Mustang for its 'throw you back in the seats' power and acceleration, without regard for gas mileage. I was expecting far less on this trip... my expectations were happily exceeded! You really should drive a mustang GT!

That’s uncanny. I got exactly 27.0 MPG going from York, Pa. to Cape May. In my 2015 gt. My neighbor, who has a 2016 pp gt, didn’t believe me until I told him I had 3.15 rear gears.

Lj - I have the 3.73 rear w/ 6 speed manual. I honestly rarely use sixth gear, but I did it frequently on this trip. I was close to 28 mpg for a while! Mustang for the road trip win!

I get about 21-23mpg on my morning commute from Media PA to Conshohocken. I can easily see getting 27-28 if it was for a much longer HW stretch. Around town I get abut 16 though. It's amazing how putting on Comfort Steering/Quiet exhaust make the car feel like a luxury ride though.

Hi Keith! I think I kept my car on normal mode, with the exhaust set to quiet for the entire trip. My wife was nervous that the car would be uncomfortable on a 7 hour drive, but we did very well and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. 21-23 mpg sounds more like what I was expecting.

This gives me confidence to buy the new S650 when it comes out. :o) 27mpg for a car that powerful is excellent.

Hi Al! Sarah and I were surprised how comfortable the car was for a long distance trip, and pleasantly pleased by the gas mileage, which we were not expecting. Mustang GT for the win!

I get about 20ish driving around town. If I drive like a jerk, it goes down. Highway driving I get about 26.

Yes he has his cats still on he has a catalytic converter without cats that 5.0 would be horrible in gas ⛽️ but would sound phonomenal

My 04 2v pi 4.6 manual does pretty good. The small fuel tank is deceiving. I think I get about 20 commuting and closer to 30 hwy. That's with some mods... bigger intake plenum, K&N CAI, light weight pulleys, 2.5in exhaust from manifolds back, only 2 cats, xpipe, better coil packs, Nitto tires, lowering springs. Gonna drive from Colorado to PA and back... should make a video. Need to get it dynod too it's no slouch for an NA 4.6.

I have a auto 2018 camaro v6 and I usually get 22-25mpg but when I put it in paddle shifters it goes down to 17mpg but I’m thinking of buying a 2017 ford mustang gt

Lol, paddle shifters are fun but they are not fuel efficient! Have you considered a 2019 Mustang? Better reliability than 2017 and 2018, IMO.

I have experienced the same gas mileage too at the high end but at the low end I managed to get 9 to the gallon with my 2019 GT…
