I’m all for saving the manuals but at the end of the day just get the one you’ll have the most fun in, if that’s a manual go for it and if it’s an auto go for it! Just go, enjoy and have fun!

I bought the Mach 1 over the GT premium because they were the same price. Why would I spend 55k on a GT premium when I could get a Mach 1 instead.

I like to have a choice. If you love the manual, go for the manual, but there is no point in forbidding someone to get the auto if they want it. I love manuals and had many, but with back problems I like to have the option to buy an auto, and I enjoy my mach1 that way.

Seen a whole bunch of Mustangs on the car carrier today. Almost break my neck trying to look through and see all the trims there were. One Mach 1 was on the carrier, just like this one.

Looking at the build sheet for this car, it appears that the Recaros are available as a standalone option. So it's good that it's still available for those that want it.

Best car of all cars to modify imo. Motor and trans are stout 750+ rwhp easy. I love the 10r80 once you learn it its amazing. I stay in paddle mode though.

I liked the review, but I am buying an AUTOMATIC. My left knee is shot, but I still want to have fun at the track once in a while, and my wife can drive it on trips if needed too.

I wish the signs that said ICY were made with temperature sensitive pigment like those coffee mugs. When it’s over 50F, the text disappears. It’s hilarious to drive past those signs when it’s 90 degrees outside.

Great video guys and though I have an auto, I agree maybe it should be manual only or a 7 speed auto at most. Dadz Garage in Australia will put up a review soon of my new Mach 1.

Nice job again guys. This is a great car and track ready! I would say its too expensive for most folks at $60k minimum. Could you do a video on the new Camaro LT1 model with a manual trans.? Seems like a really fun car at an affordable price. Lord knows we need affordable right now. Kudos to your input on this Mach 1. You guys do a great job!

10 speed is much faster from a roll race and drag race . It’s just always in the peak of the powerband

This car with the Tremec manual is the one to buy. The Handling Package is an added $3,500 and you get better looking wheels and track more focused tires. But even without that a Mach 1 with a Tremec is good enough.

2:48 I’m gonna stop you right there. While the GT500 is faster I don’t know that it’s more engaging and fun to drive than one of these cars with the TR3160. It’s head and shoulders above a regular GT as it’s more powerful and gets the 3.73 Torsen diff. I test drove a 2017 GT and didn’t like it, however the Mach 1 is a different beast and I love mine. I’m passing the time until spring by watching reviews about it.

A lot of people, including reviewers, often complain about the $60K for the Mach 1. But reality is if you option out a regular GT premium model with the handling package and a few other options to make it closer in comparison to a Mach 1, you're only a few thousand less than $60k, but still get the questionable Getrag 6-spd. For a few thousand extra, I'll spend that every time to get the vastly superior Tremec 6-spd from the GT-350 and the extra Shelby goodies that come on the Mach 1. Plus the Mach 1 will hold it's value better.

I love the manual. That’s pretty much the reason I love the mustang. If I want an auto I’d get a Honda accord. Yea the auto may be faster but the manual lets me feel like I’m in control and it brings back that old school muscle car feel. Plus If I get a car like this it’ll be just for play toy reasons. I’d have to have an everyday driver with one of these in my fleet

Well done. As a Mustang owner and fan of the podcast, I thought it was a fair review. Two big questions 1) Could you see yourselves recommending this in a car debate? I would have a tough time justifying this versus a used GT 350, which even in this market, can be had in the 50s. 2) Ok. Slight gripe. Ford got dinged for offering an auto. The counterpoint is that the Supra, which you guys like, doesn’t (currently) offer a manual. Ditto the C8. ----Sherif

The difference is both of those two cars have great transmissions whereas the 10 spd in this isn’t all that good.

@@phattyhales Totally fair. I agree the 10 speed auto is a weakness. The only thing I’d say is that I do give Ford points for putting in the Tremec unit, which is one of the best manuals on a new car today. I hope it makes it into the next gen GT since the new king of the hill, the GT 500, does not offer a manual.

Your lucky as that is dollars. All this is in US currency. Try UK pounds sterling. This is 55k UK without anything extra. Convert that to USD.

$62 grand for every option but the optional seats isn’t bad compared to the Dodge or Camaro. And the Handling package has tires with more grip. Blah, blah, blah about the auto transmission; the car is faster with it, than with the 6 speed manual. It is a very good vehicle for 62 grand.

Bummer this wasn't tested with the Handling Package. That flavor of Mach 1 sled is 🔥. But this bare bones one is pretty good tho. 👍

If you are happy with the Getrag, no. Otherwise, you might spring for the Mach 1 if you like the Tremec.

The 10 speed isn’t just for fuel economy. Having all those close ratios makes it significantly faster than the manual. The 10 speed also helps a lot with towing in the truck applications.

Gauges should only have one mode. The same information is relevant regardless of where or how you are driving. Tach, speed, coolant temp, fuel level. None of those are ever not relevant.

I'm 50 years old and a 30-year Ford fan and this car is boring AF. I've owned several Mustangs and there is not a single thing about this so-called Mach 1 that would make me want to even drive it for free let alone buy one. if you pulled up in it in front of my house and said hey take it for a drive I would say meh... why? I have an old Cayman S in my garage that is more fun. I have an old Z3 that is more fun. I even have an old 350Z that is more fun and was 1/6 of the price.

We hope you noticed all the positive things said here. And we hope you’ve seen our many other Mustang reviews. This Mach 1 was also part of a comparison we did for season 9 of TV which we suspect you’d enjoy. We mention good and bad in every car, but know that the cons often seem to hit harder. I drive a 18 Mustang GT as my every day driver. I test drove the 6 speed but my left knee said no! The 10 speed auto is wonderful. I put it in sport mode and I’m 18 again. I didn’t buy it for gas mileage, but you can’t argue with 30 mpg on the interstate.

We aren’t wanting to exclude or insult anyone. We know there are people like yourself who cannot drive a manual. The thinking here is that many special editions have been offered one way (Civic Type R is all manual, GT500 is all auto) and this car feels more suited to manual. Thanks for watching.

@@TestDriveVideos Yes that is fine and I understand that but to say a bridge car to only come one way is a bit much. Like I had no problem with the GT 350 or 350R only being a manual because those were the top mustangs at the time. This is one for the gap as you guys say from GT to GT 500 so to be offered in both options is the choice in my opinion. In my opinion if you want a manual only special track focused car get the ford GT.

What a horrible review. I can't think of ANYONE who buys this car, a Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Challenger 392 or any V8 Charger that wants or is worried that they don't get 30 or 35 MPG. That's not what these cars are produced for...how stupid.

We feel like you missed most of what was discussed here. The MPG was only mentioned briefly in relation to the 10 speed auto and we dismissed it for the same reason you mentioned. We know, and stated that MPG is not the point here Sorry you didn’t catch anything else, but thanks for watching.

I had an automatic GT premium. Had a feeling a manual would be much more fun for me, but I shied away from the Getrag transmission because of all its problems. Then comes the Mach 1 with the option for a Tremec manual. The tremec is amazing and I was right. It is much more fun for me. Probably will never own an automatic mustang ever again unless my wife wants one herself. Then I'll buy her an automatic, but I'll still drive my manual mach 1.
