Mustang Mach-E Screen Protector (Get rid of glare & fingerprints!)

After having our Mustang Mach-E for just a couple of weeks, we noticed we had lots of glare and kept on getting fingerprints on the large center screen that is the main interface for SYNC. It was only really noticeable at certain times of the day, but it was very noticeable at those times of the day.
We wanted to try to do something about it and The OCD Plug has a brand new screen protector kit for the Mach-E. We reached out to them and they sent us a protector to test out.
In this video, Liv shows you the before, applying the screen protector, and the after. Take a look and let us know in the comments what you think!
The screen protector ships rolled up and includes a spray bottle, microfiber cloth, and a card for assisting in the application. It is a perfect fit for the Mach-E screen and has a cut out section that fits around the volume knob.
Overall, the installation went smoothly and was successful in removing most of the glare and fingerprints from our screen. It is a matte finish, so you will have to decide if you like that look. We didn't notice any changes to the touch sensitivity of the screen after we applied it.

What do you think about the matte finish after applying the screen protector?

I put it on mine , Ty. It’s soothing to eyes now. And do you know protector for rear door - guessing push/pull over time leaves fade/wear-tear impressions

Nice job. I love having my OCDPlug screen protector on the main screen and drivers screen. You for sure want this on both screens!! When I installed it I only used about half of the small tube of water/soap spray and it worked perfectly. I think you sprayed it about 3 times more than you needed to, you want the screen to be wet but not dripping. I think this is why the protector was sliding so much when trying to squeeze the water/soap out. It didn't slide that much for me once I started squeezing the water/soap out. I also started working gently from the top center and worked my way down.

Hey thanks for the tips and input! I totally used too much liquid! Sounds like it would be MUCH easier to do it with less. I think I'll have an easier time with the dash screen but yeah totally agree it's a huge improvement - Liv

Thank you for making this video. I plan to install the OCD screen protector in my Bronco tomorrow. I have watched all the videos on the ICD web site, one of which was yours. First, your noting that it's possible to have too much soap in the water/dish soap solution was extremely helpful. I was planning to use a large spray bottle that my wife has labeled as "dilute dish soap/water solution," and I'll bet that it has way more soap concentration than called for in the OCD instruction sheet. Now I'll stick to the little bottle and make my own solution, per the instructions. Also, your camera angle when you were driving around shows a good comparison of glare and reflections from the OCD-covered main screen and the uncovered driver screen. Very interesting! Again, thank you!

Dear lord that screen at the beginning...lol. So what you are telling me is that I need one of these when I pick this up from the dealer day one. I have a Paperlike cover on my ipad and it was the best purchase ever, no smudges anywhere.

Haha I would never say you NEED it, but if you like the Paperlike ipad screen protector, you will probably like this! I got a Paperlike imitation from Amazon on my ipad and I vastly prefer it to glossy. Same thing with the Mach-E. I'd probably say to give it a shot without it first just to see what it's like and then you'll probably decide to go with the matte screen protector pretty quickly...but at least you'll see for yourself how crazy the finger prints are! - Liv

I think you did a pretty good job. Much better than seeing all those greasy finger prints. I love the Mach E shirt ! So cool. And you are keeping the Pony looking clean. Good job!

I got this kit and installed it pretty simple as shown. Would suggest wrapping the squeegee in the supplied micro fiber cloth to get water out as I scratched mine slightly with out doing that.

oh bummer! Yeah I wrapped the micro fiber around the squeegee at the end too, when there wasn't any liquid, an it worked well. Hope your scratch isn't too visible! - Liv

That's fair! I certainly don't think the dash one is necessary...and it's kind of nice to see the comparison of what it looks like in it's natural state....but then I see things reflecting in it and I want to cover it...so I'm torn! At least the big screen is much better now! - Liv

Nice work. Even minimal bubbles would drive me insane. Not that you did not do an outstanding job. I can't imagine applying a screen saver to a large screen. I'll see over time if driving without gets on my nerves and I break down an order a screen protector.

Haha thanks Maric! I do think that if one used much less soap and liquid than me then one might have even more success! Josh with the OCD plug did mention that I could still peel off the top right edge to release the little bubble, spray the screen and protector again, and squidge it back down....but I don't honestly notice it enough. It's nice to know that you still have a chance to fix it after application! - Liv

I have the same company's screen protector for my '21 F150 with the 12" screen. I am indifferent about it personally, I like the protection but the screen does look and feel less premium and the matte makes it a little harder to seen when in Night Mode and the sun at a bad angle. Edit: I still like it, and its the best one I seen out there.

Looks like you found a good product there. What does annoy me is that you pay a lot of money for a car, and the car producer doesn't give you a free screen protector/cleaner for you to apply if you so desire.

Ya that's a good point. I can be quite clumsy so I put screen protectors on everything! But the thing I'm still having a hard time with is the cost of PPF. It's almost prohibitive but then you know your car will get chips/dings/scratches if you don't use it.

I definitely like the result and bookmarked the link to the product’s website, but the process looked a bit challenging. You did a great job because the little bubble you mention at the end doesn’t even show on the video. It seems like one could easily end up with a bunch of bubbles though (that “one” being me, of course). But fingerprints all over the screen would bug me too, so I’m sure I’d eventually try it. Thanks for the video!

Thanks Alain! I think it might be simpler and easier if you use less liquid than me. The guy who makes the screen did mention that I could peel back the edge, pop out the bubble, and respray the corner so it's nice to know you can fix it if there's a bubble. If it's something you like the look of, I'm betting you will find it easier to do than I did...even just from learning from my mistakes haha - Liv

Does the company include a small circle protector for the on-screen power button within the volume dial? If so, did you install that?

There is a circle film included for the power button. I installed on mine.

@@Stryford1 I did not wet the circle as I put it in dry. Have to be very careful . I put the edge of the film on the corner of the credit card squeegee and positioned it inside the hole.

Good morning Liv & Patrick, in the German MUSTANG MACH E forum is a interesting question coming up: Can you test for all of us, how many miles (or kWh) the Mustang is loosing every night while standing (NOT CONNECTED TO YOUR WALL BOX!!!) in your garage? I like the term Vampire Drain 🧛‍♂️ In one of our vlog videos...I think the Denver sight-seeing one...Patrick mentions how much overnight drain we had. It was maybe only a couple battery percentage points. I'll try note an exact percentage tonight! - Liv

It wasn't bad the one time we tried that but I will test again tonight. I believe that the first time we lost only about 4 miles of range and 1% battery.

I think it will be interesting, when I'll - once in a time after the pandemic - go by plane into holyday for may be 14 days. Yeah, my electronics aren't covered in my warranty, so I'm not sure how comfortable I am completely dousing them with soapy water to get this thing installed. Are we saying it's pretty much impossible to do it the dry way?!

I believe this product requires a wet install. You definitely don't need to use as much liquid as I did! But you could get the spigen tempered glass one. It's a dry install amzn.to/3RMFRgY - Liv
