Something I think you've missed is the value of the sagas when the presence of proliferate is taken into account. Say you have the wise moth man and one way to proliferate on the board. Play vault 12 and everyone gets 3 rad counters. Swing with the wise mothman, everyone gets a 4th rad counter. Proliferate, everyone gets a 5th rad counter and you get an extra chapter counter on vault 12, creating (at least) five zombies per player.

I was literally typing this message until I went to go check the other comments to see if anyone else had caught onto this. This works for Vault 87 as well, where you can steal a large creature, put +1/1 counters on it, attack with it, and then draw cards or sac it afterwards. Proliferate in this deck makes it work really well and there's a bunch of ways to either do it already, or you can upgrade to make it do more.

@SpaceAznZen You'd need haste for it to attack and then if you sac it you aren't drawing cards. Speeding that one up seems not great particularly because you can't just ram the creature into someone to get rid of it if the table needs it gone.

I'm SO happy The Master got a card! The Master, for those unfamiliar with Fallout lore is THE original Super Mutant who would create every Mutant you see in Fallout 1 2 and New Vegas and was the first main villain in the franchise. So glad he's here

Watchful radstag... it is essentially scute swarm for creatures with power and or toughness greater than 2 ETBS instead of landfall. Remember, this thing will scale logrithmically with flickers and etbs. If you are looking for fair incidental, non-combo, non-overrun style wincons, this seems like a viable battlecruiser finisher in the right deck.

I feel the biggest thing I noticed with these fallout precons... unlike the Warhammer precons... is a lot of the cards feel... scattered? Like I wouldn't use Piper in the mothman deck, but I would use her in the science precon. then there are a lot of radiation base cards in the other precons I would totally stick in this precon. Plus there is like the 5th "secret deck" you could make by taking apart all the precons and putting together all the quest related cards.

Bobbleheads are like the ur example of that problem. They're 1-2 a deck, where they're terrible, instead of being stacked in one deck where they might be okay. But yeah the decks feel a lot less coherent than the 40k or Dr. Who decks. A couple off theme cards are very reasonable if they're just generically passable; Prisoner's Dilemma is a good recent example. But stuff like Piper and to a lesser extent even Tireless Tracker just don't really fit.

I just checked, there are only 8 cards that use quest counters. Not really enough to support a one deck.

@viscarious1 No, but they can definitely act as a component. Moira in particular puts them on any permanent, so Moira would work well with Boone and Overseer and ED-E. She's literally the only outside enabler for those cards but... separate deck.

Wanted to add one thing about sagas in this deck. You can proliferate them, which means you can get to later chapters rather quickly, possibly the turn they come out.

It can't because in the Fallout lore, mutants come from humans and Mutate in MTG can only target non-humans

Sometimes I think we're too quick to label a card as 'pillow fort' when it penalizes an opponent for attacking us (see: Cunning Rhetoric). I think Project Purity is more about furthering our game plan when opponents attack us, rather than preventing them from doing so. Now one could argue that giving them the choice of furthering that plan or not attacking us is a weakness that doesn't justify the mana cost, but that's a different conversation.

If you cast the bear using Magus Lucea you would destroy the same artifacts twice. Aka once and the second time nothing would happen. It doesn’t “double the effect.”

I'm newish to Commander Decks, particularly Universes Beyond. The 40k decks were 100% thematic to the 40k universe, if memory serves me right. But I'm noticing the Fallout ones aren't? Not just in terms of in-world flavor (like Piper being in the Mothman deck, Kellogg in the Caesar deck, etc, but that's fine), but the MTG Goldfish preview pages show cards from other sets in the precon decks as well? Like Hardened Scales - which is not even a Fallout related card - is in the Mutant Menace precon deck, I see? Is that normal? edit: okay, I think I see, those are cards that will just be re-printed to have new Fallout art, right?

Irradiated lands: 2U Enchantment Whenever a land is put into an opponent's graveyard, put a rad counter on that opponent. At the beggining of your pre combat main phase, you may exile two land cards from either your graveyard, hand and/or battlefield. If you do, you get 2 rad counters and draw a card. Something like this would've been a card you would've liked?

What's with the spoiler season this set. The mtg stream fired later than it should have to start the spoilers, and then some spoilers have gotten leaked before the proper outlet could even show off the card they got to spoil. Just weird
