@@WestBendNews my comment wasn't regarding IF there was a take-up spool - there is - But, if it is ON, it runs continuously even if nothing is printing - unlike the 1624X, which has a bar that lowers to a certain point while printing to trigger the take up spool to roll one turn. I would prefer the 1624X over the newer model, but it wasn't available when my company bought the new printer.

My guess is that is just an upgraded Mutoh 1638x with DX7 printheads which can't compete with Epson Precision Core (I whish Mutoh had Precision Core on these new printers).
