Idk. I love watching people discover BTS but I just can’t with this one. And I love watching the men fall for Jimin and the other boys. Gives me so much joy. I mean can you blame them. Ok, so lets talk about make-up for a min. Make-up was for men and was used by men, including Egyptian men who used it to showcase their masculinity. It was carried forward into European society also used by men. It has long also been used in Asian cultures so really it was women who co-opted make-up not the other way around. This is factual history...you can look it up. Second, make up is used by musicians, movie stars, etc. today regardless of sexual identity to enhance feature and appearance. I get the surprise at first of seeing them with make-up, but "broads"...really, in this day an age. I'm sure you aren't used to seeing pretty/beautiful men, who lets be real, are probably better looking than a lot of ppl most of us know, but believe me when I tell you it's not the make-up...they are just beautiful with or without make-up.. And NO, they have not had plastic surgery. As to the music, these young men are talented beyond belief. The singing, rapping, dancing, production, composition, writing, they do it all. They write most of their song and their lyrics actually mean something which is why a lot of ppl resonate with them and why the ARMY is so large. They have music for everyone and in almost every genres. If we forget everything else, the Music is special.

Thanks for saying that part about the history of make up. Men have worn it since the beginning of time. Also this is show business. Back in the day I loved the bands who wore it. MJ, Prince, Bowie, Aerosmith, so many.

really, I do not understand all this surprise with the fact that they are artists who use makeup because it is super normal, THEY ARE ARTISTS and need to be always impeccable because within the Korean music industry the look counts a lot - not only in the industry itself but is also a mirror of Asian society in relation to standards of beauty and aesthetics

exactly. every person on screen or on stage has some make-up on. whether it's news anchor, singer on stage, actor in theatre, they all wear make-up. make-up is for the people to look good or to express themselves, not to look feminine or gay. (and there's nothing wrong with either of them, but if we only associate make-up with those things, it only shows how close minded we are)😒

Pls don't react to BTS anymore. Mocking their fans and assuming their songs are for girls only was unecessary. That song is not even that type of song. If you turned on its translation you'll know that they were talking about how hard they work to get where they are. You don't have to like them or enjoy their music to have some respect.

But we have changed many channels of reaction that in their beginnings were disrespectful and mocked the boys, in channels more respectful and considerate, even many became really ARMY and even went to the recitals. It’s our way, patience, understanding and respect. We showed them their mistake with education, that changed the attitude of a lot of reactors.

Its normal for ANYONE in front of a camera, on set, or a podium to have make up on. Everyone in the entertainment industry has worn make up on occasion. Some just choose to make if more noticeable as a stylistic choice.

What about Prince??? He wore tons of makeup and men loved his ass. R u telling me David Bowie wasn't a badass in his day?? Every male artist wears makeup to a degree. It's American puritanicalism that breeds this kind of judgement. I actually think it harms men more than they realize. Forces them into a box that they can never deviate from. It's much deeper than the makeup. The fact that this society forces men to not show their emotions and then the only emotion they feel comfortable showing is anger and we end up with a violent society of misogynists, gangsters and domestic terrorist. Anyways, thanks for watching. It's a shame that you're not reading the lyrics because these songs have deep meaning and you're missing it all. They may be wearing makeup and that's all you're seeing, but they're talking about societal pressures put on the younger generation when all the wealth and capital has already been snatched up by their parent's generation. Subsequently, many have lost their hope for having a happy life. 💜

"Am I gay?" ~ common line from most men after seeing BTS. "Am I straight?" ~ common among lesbians after seeing BTS. They - as a whole - are just...pretty, handsome, attractive, gorgeous...HOT!...and whatever other positive adjectives you can think of. However, they are definitely MORE than *just* pretty faces. They're all insanely talented in - AND out - of the music business. Jimin (red haired in this video) trained in contemporary dance and hip hop...but is a black belt...in SEVERAL martial arts fields. He's so sweet and adorable and squishy...and could also actually kill you at the drop of a hat. Jungkook could have had a professional career in SEVERAL different sports - running/sprinting, boxing, and many others. He also could have been a professional painter, his works are truly jaw-dropping. He rarely - if ever - does a "rough sketch". He just picks up a paintbrush, decides on a color, and just starts painting whatever comes to his mind. J-Hope actually played tennis when he was much younger. He was good, but music called him before he could really "go anywhere" with it. As dedicated as he is when he likes something, I have no doubt we'd be hearing about him playing tennis professionally right now if dance hadn't caught his attention and distracted him from the courts. I could go on...about all of them...but this is long enough as it is.

They are so awesome. Well said. V could be one of the top models in the world. He also paints. RM could be a professor with his IQ at 148, and Suga is a great song writer producer. BTS have 7 individual mega superstars. And together as one, they are MAGNIFICENT. We purple them for a reason.

Sorry but a lot of wester rock bands, punk groups and soloist use heavy make up and eye liner. Depeche mode, the cure, Kiss, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Manson, Rolling Stones, a lot of heavy metal groups. Makeup, clothes, colors are just things. And things have no gender, only living things have gender. So if a man wants to wear pink or a skirt or long hair, that doesn’t say anything about his gender identity. It’s just his style and his choice. When you believe that clothing or a color can modify that, it’s called Fragile Masculinity, meaning that you’re so insecure about your own masculinity that something insignificant like clothing can put this at risk. When you’re confident about who you are, the clothes don’t really matter. The BTS style was always in favor of breaking gender stereotypes, and it is a conscious choice. They always made statements in favor of freedom and above all RESPECT, and they are always actively against racism, because they live it in their own flesh. So judging them just because their culture is different, or because they wear makeup is really very low intellectual level.

I'm sorry but "if you just put a wing on it" what kind of comment is that? 2:26 - I understand if the makeup and styling can be jarring to some but that was pretty dehumanizing... just reminds me of the comments I hear people say to trans, nonbinary people, etc. I won't get into that but I will try to finish it because I want to give you a chance. First impressions though, I'm definitely put off. Also, it's really odd to me that y'all watch anime but are put off by this... 6:40 - I am quite honestly tired of hearing men explain their sexuality. And Idk if you were joking... but if you wanna compliment men go right ahead but you're okay to express that if you choose to, but we really got to get away from the "no homo bro," "you're gay for saying he looks good" jokes just for giggles because it's a bit harmful to those who are and aren't. And it's such a phenomenon that women never have to justify their attraction no matter how they compliment another woman. Just goes to show that we need to do better. Also, saying makeup is only for females when a lot of females don't wear makeup, while some men do wear makeup is pretty limiting to gender in general... Overall, your reaction was off putting to me. But it wasn't too bad, so I will check out your other reactions. But please stay mindful. :)

I tend to get protective over them as many of us do and I have parents that often make these comments (not joking) but entirely speaking negatively on their behalf. I took things too literally, that was my bad on my end. BTS taught us not to judge people for who they are before understanding them further and I did that now. But I have watched another video of yours and I realized I judged way too quickly. I really am sorry if I ruined your experience getting into BTS. Maybe your reactions aren't for me and that's okay. Hopefully you're enjoy their music as much as I do.

Men actually are fans of thiers as well if you watch their concert from Las Vegas when V askes all the fellas to make some noise you can hear so many men grown men yelling. And the while makeup thing you have American artists weather they are rappers or singers or both they all wear make-up especially men. These guys are incredible and they arent just for the ladys thats sexist a bit. I'm actually quite surprised that most of your comment is about their makeup. All people appear on tv wears makeup. For people with darker skin it might not be that obvious. Skin routines is crucial for them. Clean shaved skin is mandatory for idols. If these kids (call them kids since they are my stepson's age) did not wear makeup, they look younger actually. Jungkook (the one in police uniform) were asked for id when he tried to purchase tequila at a restaurant recently mistaken that he's underage. He'll be 26 soon btw 😅. If you don't like to see them in makeup, just watch their dance practice. They don't dressed up in dance practice...just their casual wear. Plus the choreo is clearer in dance practice/choreography video. Btw, did you guys turn on the cc for subtitles?. Coz i didn't see. I'm too lazy to list down suggestion but you can search for bts most streamed song on spotify where you can hear snippets of their songs. There's a list by bulkyapple and the latest one released yesterday. Maybe you can find something you like. Good luck 👍☺.

The guys in that interview were their seniors, later 20's, maybe early 30's, and some of them even auditioned for BTS and didn't make it through. In South Korea, age hierarchy means something different than in America. RM and Suga couldn't talk back to them, Because it's not allowed, and especially on a radio show. RM responded the best he could, while still remaining respectful. They responded later in their music. The hate never stopped coming, not because they wore makeup, but because they were successful. BTS has had to deal with Hate, Prejudice, Racism, and Xenophobia, since before they debuted. They were driven and had a lot to say, and their journey was fueled by anger, especially in the beginning. ARMY's were on that journey with them, and they became very protective of BTS because of it. When they entered the Western Market, it got worse, and on a whole other level. The media, and people in general were mocking them, and BTS ARMY were along for the ride. So you see, when someone mocks them, or is disrespectful, etc. ARMY's will respond. Some of them get triggered and may respond with hate and malice. That is not what BTS would want, so we try not to do that. Calling Jimin your "Baby Daddy" and mocking ARMY by swooning every time one of their faces comes on the screen, is neither entertaining or respectful. It's no different from when BTS were mocked when they were just starting to come up. BTS ARMY are a very diverse fanbase of over 350 million fans Globally, . I'm a 57 year old female ARMY, with a husband of the same age that is also ARMY, and we love the guys for their music, their message, and their personalities. When you mock BTS, it really detracts from any kind of music review or opinion you give about them, because it's disrespectful. Their discography is over 300 songs at this point in their career. I follow reactors that genuinely discovered them. Mocking ARMY's by assuming that all of them are going to swoon over them, when there are a substantial number of ARMY's from ages 25 to 80 years old, and also different genders, races, and demographics, is not a smart thing to do. They only wear makeup for performances not in their everyday life. People forget that others have worn makeup in the past eg. Prince, Michael Jackson, Kiss, Alice Cooper etc. South Korea is well known for excellent Skincare also, they take pride in looking after themselves.

Wow. I hate to break it to you..... But most artist wear makeup. If they make a music video... Makeup, if they are on a tv show... Makeup. You WILL rarely see any KPOP artist that isn't camera ready. BUT KPOP is a whole other world. They are called idols. They are always changing their hair color and hair style ( even the female idols). You know there are worldwide millons of girls/women that throw themselves at their feeth? In Korea man take good care of themselves and make-up is part of it. It has nothing to do with looking like a girl or being gay. And if one was gay, so what? Men over there are more physical with each other (hugging, holding hands,...). It's part of their culture. They're the most humble, respectfull people. Did you know they're the biggest hit sensation after the Beatles? Have you seen where they're coming from, what they have accomplished, what they sing about, how tallented they are, what they do besides the singing, how smart they are, all the good things they do, how sweet and loving they are? I've never heard such old fashioned views in my life! Just because a man looks after himself and is culturally different you don't need to be rude. If you don't like the way they look you won't like any male kpop groups as this is normal. It wasn't until the last couple of minutes of your video that you even mentioned the music. Also, jimin with the red hair is trained in many martial arts and has a black belt in taekwondo so is tougher than you think. Western artists wear make-up on stage and videos too, does that make them like women ?

Yeah, it's completely normal for kpop stars to wear makeup...the Korean culture values appearance higher than other cultures (you must turn in a head shot with your resume when looking for a job!) and so looking absolutely perfect is a job requirement so makeup *must* play a part in that....but our boys don't wear it normally and we see them on live streams they do all the time without makeup... AND THEY LOOK JUST AS GOOD WITHOUT IT

One thing you have to take into consideration, is that the Korean culture like the Asian ones in general, have much influence of anime in its aesthetic. You can see that in manga/anime the stereotype of man is very aesthetic, more than women sometimes, and that does not affect their strength or their masculinity. That's why is very common to see contact lenses and extravagant hair colors in kpop groups. In Asian cultures, men are expected to take care of themselves as much as women, and in general Asian women like men who are very careful, thin, and have soft and aesthetic features. In fact it is not well seen when they have too much muscle, or facial hair, and have a strong demand on their weight. Especially in Korea, beauty standards are hard to reach, what they consider as ideal weight, is extreme thinness in the West.

Literally anyone in front of a camera is going to have make-up on. Let alone if you're going to be on stage. You bet even the "manliest" of artists have make-up on shooting a music video. And if you're going to be on a live broadcast for in interview? Psh, pounds of make-up to make sure you don't look like a corpse because those lights wash you out. You see a male news anchor in real life and you'd think a dollmaker did their face because what looks natural on camera looks overdone in person. And maybe because I'm a guy who has worked in the film/entertainment industry for a while, but it's always been so weird to me how people act like it's something unusual when it's quite literally completely normal. Also, just because you find Jimin attractive doesn't mean he looks like a girl. Hopefully if you go down the rabbit hole and get into them, it'll open your eyes to a whole new world. As artists and people, BTS can really help you grow. I know they've helped me grow a lot myself. I wasn't immune to some of the ideals that come with toxic masculinity. We're putting ourselves in shackles with it. Thanks for checking them out. Going to continue checking out some more of your reactions now. Edit: The plastic surgery assumption was cringe. They're just attractive.
