Glad I found your channel. I grew up riding those tracks every weekend. After escaping California, I miss Mile Climb, Bee Camp and all the good times as a kid and with my kids. I was considering one of these bikes by thought they're bee slugs. After seeing you handle the climbs around bowl and snake without trouble, I'm sold. Thanks!

It was a really great place for us to grow up and be able to ride as well! Literally know every spot you mentioned. This bike is a great and affordable addition to anyone's arsenal. I generally ride 450s and strictly motocross. I like that my wife could ride the ssr, and I still have fun on it as a 6 ft, 200 lb guy. It is not a powerhouse but that's exactly what makes it so good for everybody.

Great video! You can eliminate the play in the excel. pump rod by cutting the safety wire then turning the screw clockwise until the gap is eliminated. This is for timing of the excel. Pump circuit. Something else that helps that low speed circuit is the volume of the spray, for 250’s put the carb 12” off the ground and quickly open the throttle the stream should shoot 3 feet from the spray nozzle ( longer is richer & shorter is leaner) the leak jet determines the volume out the spray nozzle ( bigger leak jet hole hole = less going out the spray nozzle “leaner”) By the way your videos are great, the time you take to go in-depth is very important please keep up the unique projects. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS! 🙏💪❤️🇺🇸🗽😁

Really cool trick. I have never heard of the 3' spray test. Sounds like a sweet flame thrower too! Haha. I'll take a look next time the carb is off the bike. Even though the rod slop was way less impactful then I thought it would be while riding, I still don't like it. As for the leak jet, I was hoping there was a size on it so I could data log a little better but no luck! At any rate, I appreciate the time you took to enrich the comments section with something of value to everyone here 🙏 Thanks for watching! -Charles // mXrevival

Some fcrs dont have the adjustment screw. Has to be set by tying wire to the right tension around the pump lever and housing to set the spray timing. Does the same thing as the screw

@@kylegreen378 I hear ya ! Everyday is a skool day !! Where would you start with an unknown 400 to 450 conversion with the wrong FCR carb and the TPS disconnected that you got as a none runner ??? That Husaberg would have the headers glowing cherry red cos the idle was so lean till it was jetted somewhere close !!! This is the joy of buying basket case off road bikes without a full service history 🤔 you lives and learns eh 😉
@kylegreen378
@kylegreen378 Жыл бұрын
@@johnwalker194 So the throttle position sensor was disconnected? Its never going to have the correct ignition timing. An EFI bike would never even run at all if you had the TPS disconnected lol. But what bike was the carb from? If you increase the engine size, you will increase the vacuum in the manifold unless you also get a bigger carb. More vacuum means you are going to pull fulr through the jets with more force. So you actually want to go down a size or two in every jet.

Hey Charles!! I told you this carburetor is amazing with this engine in a video before, it works very very good!!. The only thing we got to do is the jetting, but after that is awesome😃✌️. Another tip for you is to swap the throttle body for one of the KTM's throttle body, it fits just exactly fine. Regards.
@mxrevival
@mxrevival Жыл бұрын
Hi Omar, I really like the FCR carb in this bike. Definitely an upgrade over the stock 2020 version! Only issue for most people is that the jetting is much more complex now. After this video we moved to Idaho, which is about 2,500 ft higher in elevation than California. The bike would not even start or run with the FCR at this elevation. So it will need another rejet. I simply installed our Lectron mod again and it fired right up and ran great 🤣 I really enjoy the torque of the FCR when it's jetted properly. I didn't understand what you meant about the KTM throttle body, as throttle bodies are usually found on fuel injection? Thanks for the tip, and for watching, and sorry I didn't understand! -Charles // mXrevival

The float needles used to be made of brass before neoprene took it's place. You can use a wire type spark plug gap gauge to find out the size of that leak jet or any other jets. We used to use them to punch out main jets to a larger size after changing intake and exhaust systems. We used this method to find out which size jets to order. Never failed.

Great video charles... We tried the FCR MX 37 from crf250r on our repair shop about 1 year ago. we did the otom cdi and ignition coil as well as cr6 racing cable from ngk and ngk iridium plugs. Installed the pro circuit t6 slip-on. The bike was crazy fast, throttle response and everything was so spot on. but, after like 30 hours riding it with the same setting the bike started to act up. stuttered alot sometime in the bottom range sometime mid to top. Then helplessly we changed the carb and put the Mikuni TM 34-2. changed the main and pilot and runs like a dream. 250 300 both runs good on the mikuni. Makes the 300 so freaking fast. Doesn't have the accelerator pump which sucks but still a very good carb for that money. We also ran the Mikuni TM 36 but it started to show idling issues . Please do the review on those tm34 as well, it is a very inexpensive option for many riders. Next stop we are planning to swap the cylinder head and change it to NT250 engine. It has shims and a dual cam and i guess running fcr will compliment it further. what jets you ran for the fcr and lemme know which leak jet as well. I will try the fcr again to see how it performs. Ill give you a follow in insta too from @brthersgarage . Any info will help us a ton as we work typically on Chinese bikes.

Never had any bogging issues and my son road that bike for a year, just bought him the 300 and after the dealership that I bought it from followed this video the bike is great. I have some vids of that too. I would bet your issue with the 189 is a jetting issue I’m on the east coast in New Jersey and stock jets are perfect at my elevation . Hope that helps. The bolt on 30:41, that is absent on cam side is not just a bolt, but a limiter. It prevents cam to rotate too far. I think there is a risk that flat slide will jam if you open it too high(as it happens when you disassemble carb). Also it spoils airflow if slide is too high. Maybe with standard throttle tube it can't happened. I'm little cautious about such things since I overshoot tabletop on a chinese bike because of jammed slide(was not my bike and carb was not fcr clone)

Much respect, just curious if you did any plug checks? If you did mention or do this in video I apologize now, missed few seconds when kid was running wild. Once felt got mine on right track I pulled plug after some wot shut offs and plug was snow white. Had to bump jets up to get some color even though nothing changed on butt dyno. I also put the old school boyesen quick shot on mine that I had laying here from back in day and really helped bottom end response. I asked myself many times if the time and effort I have into my 300 was worth it comparing to just doing your lectron and being done lol but Cheers bro, enjoyed the video!
@mxrevival
@mxrevival 2 жыл бұрын
It's a big video! No problem at all. No plug checks for me. My butt dyno feels like that is an accurate description if I did a chop-test way up top too. The bike feels great though and no sensation of rich or lean really. The 101 octane fuel may play a small factor- only worth mentioning it because a lot of guys will not be using that. I "feel" like this setup will have even more power up top with a clip position or two drop, or the next size main jet. But the circuits come on to one another without notice, or smoothly which is a great start... except for that small & random (but persistent) flat spot when the throttle comes on too quickly, and the slack in the rod to accelerator pump is felt via gap in fuel delivery for a millisecond. I bet the quickshot was nice! And, the Lectron is sweet / fiddle- free for the most part but conquering a jetting issue is also a fun feat!

Let me answer that one for you,as right now I seem to be the only one on KZfaq making videos on the Kayo K6-R...They are nothing alike, the Kayo K6-R is a Dual Overhead Cam engine in a steel frame similar to a KTM....they have 2 different models...one has a Carb and the other is EFI (electronic fuel injection) ..the carb model is more for MX and hard riding...the EFI version is more for off road and has completely different suspension components (softer). you can check out my channel about it here : kzfaq.info/love/OMsunEjF-Sn3-WVc306Rag

Thanks Gareth! No they are different bikes. There are several variants of the SSR though. They start their lives as the same basic BSE brand machines and then are re branded by companies like SSR and others with different colors, and slightly different parts to differentiate them. But not by much! I'd say the Kayo and BSE (SSR) are more like cousins. Some of the same blood (like similar engine and suspension platforms or brands) but different machines from different parents

That is a killer idea and not sure why I didn't think about that!! My last video for the YZ250 Giveaway *_literally has a 3D printed dirt bike parts_* in it 😂😂😂 I'm on it, he's a great friend and partner of mine. Thanks for the light bulb! I was looking at the footage again last night too, of that rod issue- I think a wire tie under that sphere, but over the plastic that holds the rod under the sphere (I know, that's a weird read) could maybe take up the space I that juncture too.

My next door neighbor's 15 year old kid just got accepted to a drone league race team and he has a 3D printer to make drone parts. He made me 2 swingarm brake line hold downs in black! not that ugly white they use. But I found out you can also have softer, rubber like plastic parts made (like the frame plugs for the swingarm bolt). I was gonna see if he could make me a new airbox boot, but his printer is a little too small. But your guy can maybe make a new boot that'll fit right onto the carb and eliminate that extra collar. 👍Ooorrrrrr....just get a printer and shove another machine in the trailer lol

That FCR carb is way to complex and over engineered for a single cylinder engine, I'm wondering if a carb like the Mikuni 34mm Flatslide would work well on that bike, I raced an Al Baker XR 280 for years and that carb made all the difference in the world and much easier to tune, just a thought but many times simpler is better.

2021 & newer will have the FCR carb that was tested in this video. But you will still need to tune it, yes. Specifically the part where I am setting the fuel screw earlier in the video. if it is giving you runnability issues after that, you may need to consider your elevation where you live and jet it accordingly

What is the bog you are referring too? I have the Kayo 250 2 stroke with a Nibbi 38mm carb and the bog on mine is at the top when you hit the throttle real fast. Also in the very begging of the throttle there is a minor lag. I was going to change the jets down a size to see if that fixes it. The spark plug was a little wet and black but hasn't fouled out yet.
@mxrevival
@mxrevival 2 жыл бұрын
Probably because you have a 4-stroke with a 2-stroke carburetor on it. In essence, the bike will run but be soft on the bottom. I've heard good things about that carburetor though. Affordable and effective. So a bottom end bog using your carburetor, versus the carburetor in the video, will be for two totally different reasons. Mainly because your carb does not have an accelerator pump like the one this video is strictly about. Some tips for your jetting: don't ever do them all at the same time. Only do one jet at a time, or one change at a time. That is the only way to find out if your change was positive or negative. If you do too many changes at once, it's impossible to tell most of the time what change did what better or worse. Same goes with needle clip positions. Always one change at a time no matter what. It takes patience but the rewards are worth it and then you'll be able to map out exactly how you fixed your bike

@@mxrevival if your lean, drilling holes in your airbox will only make you run leaner. Also that little space between cam and where it’s wire tied should be adjustable. Another mod on the fcr carbs we do is gently bend the pump rod back a little bit less than a bananas shape. That way your pushing that accelerator pump rod down further faster and easier. We do that on our yz400fs wr400s 426s and early Yamaha 450s anything with the fcr carb.

I’m having flat spots up top and having to turn my needle out 4 turns to run. I have a 140 main and 42 pilot at the moment. My cousin said I need to up both jets I’m at 433’ elevation in Mississippi. Any help would be much appreciated
@mxrevival
@mxrevival 2 жыл бұрын
If you're having a runability issue in a very specific spot, like you said, up top... You want to focus on that area of getting rather than all of them at the same time. Swapping multiple Jets at the same time can make it even more confusing and frustrating because everything will change and you won't know which circuit had the good or bad effect and you will start chasing your tail most likely. So for up top symptoms, usually you're going to want to consider the needles clip position. The needle lives inside of the slide. If you lower the clip position, it will raise the needle. This will let more fuel through the main jet sooner, which is the jet allowing most of the top end fuel delivery into your engine. You would only want to do the clip change One clip position at a time. Also, you could increase the size of your main jet. You want to focus on eliminating that very specific flat spot up top that you have mentioned. Nothing else in the meantime. Just don't make a bunch of adjustments at once. Wanted a time, no matter how frustrating or time consuming it might seem to be. when you get it, you're going to be pumped and really proud of yourself and also have a great understanding of what change made the impact you were looking for. If it wasn't what you were looking for, you'll still understand what's happening and that will also feel great.

Will NEVER understand spending 3-5k on a cheap short lasting bike when you could get a 5-8 yr old QUALITY japanese or austrian bike with low hours and can actually find parts for it especially in the future when this company is long and gone. There is literally no reason for this bike other then getting tricked by a salesman or straight ignorance. Before you say its for people that just trail ride or play ride. Well okay you would still be way better off with a real name brand bike. And you really want some pos when your 40 miles from your rig on a trail ride? Just literally makes no sense. But the video is very good and good content.

Thanks for watching, Chad! Totally get your point of view. *_It simply comes down to: It's just not the bike for you._* I feel similarly about used 4 strokes of any brand or country of origin. I simply will not buy a used 4 stroke for the same feelings you have about Ol China 😂 As for why someone would, doesn't much matter to explain I suppose but it could be a simple as a "want" or maybe someone's very first brand new bike with an e-start, whatever it might be. SSR is actually a long standing brand in California with Chinese bikes coming from BSE. I remember seeing them back in 2002! They are not the typical Chinese junk and can take a beating without folding in half like the China bikes of yesteryear. Those would fold for sure! Then again I have seen new KTM's do the same... It would trip you out to ride one. Every other bike in my fleet is Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda so I get where you're coming from. The SR300 was a pleasant surprise that will serve whoever ends up with one. So even if a salesman is a grimy dirtbag, it won't matter 😎 Keep shreddin' dude! -Charles // mXrevival
