Great stuff Brian! So, I attended a panel of professional writers sharing how they use KS. The question was asked, “How far along are you before you launch?” All 6 unanimously said, “Everything, final draft, art assets, all of it - Just waiting for the campaign to end and tell my printer how many copies I need” One said, “You need to realize your professional integrity is at stake on KS.” Another, “You’d have to be a fool to only have an idea and then ask people for money.” In stitches and made the remark, “You’d make a lot of $ consulting with the board game industry!” 😂

Discounting the things that just straight-up aren't delivering, my longest-running crowdfunding project was the System Shock video game. Funded in July 2016, didn't deliver until May 2023.

Kingdoms Forlorn is on track and delivering this year for sure based on the recent update. It’s also in-line with the normal delivery schedule for a campaign of this size.

The 7th Citadel was my longest delayed game. I'm playing it now, and luckily I enjoy it very much. I didn't back anything from your list, but I did consider Soul Raiders at the time. I hope everything will deliver eventually and you can still enjoy at least some of it.

Apart from Middara Acts 2 & 3 (July 2019) and Aeon Trespass Odyssey Acts 4 & 5 (Sept 2019) - which have both partially delivered - Dawn of Madness and Stormsunder (March 2020) are my longest. Out of these, Stormsunder is the most frustrating as they aren't close to producing anything. 50/50 if they ever will. 😢😢

I’m in Batch 2 it seems from Rathskellers too, so supposedly we’re looking at summer delivery? They have been nowhere close to the 70 tables a month they promoted in the campaign. I was a sub 400 backer, I feel even more for those much higher. I’m excited for KF too but it’s such a long wait. I thought Wave 1 was suppose to be at the beginning of 24’ and wave to later 24’ but it seems wave one won’t even make it by the time Wave 2 was suppose to ship 😅

Oh, I have a bunch, but I'll give the two non-computer oldest. Zero Agents (est delivery Dec 2015)- Bunch of female spies versus an evil organization with minis. They went radio silent in 2016. Cape and Vilains Remastered (est delivery Dec 2014) - Card and dice game with superheroes fighting bad guys with nice art. Again, creators went silent in 2016. Even the last "Where's my money?!?!" comment in the comments section was two years ago. (My oldest campaign in general is Haunts, a computer game which very publicly had its programmer quit, leaving the game itself in a lurch, followed by M.O.R.E., a Master of Orion clone, both of which were due in 2013)

Interesting list. Right now "only" upcoming I have are : - Andromeda's Edge, finished early 2023, not late yet but may well be (was supposed to be June 2024, we'll see) - Ultimate Tanares, was supposed to be Feb 24 but is only now getting on boats. At least incoming in a few months - Supermoon, extension for Planet Unknown, about 6 months behind - Limbo, creeping in on 2 years late (was supposed to be July 2022 originally) but should arrive this year - ATO Wave 2 : should have been end of 2023 😅 And ... the major offender : - Stormsunder : it's anyone's guess if we ever will get this one ... but we're already 3 years late for Wave 1 and 2 years for Wave 2 🤣 It should be said though, I did request a few refunds. For example : - Hel, way before the whole Mythic drama, requested it end of 2020, early 2021. - Kingdoms Forlorn : can't see myself playing it when I haven't even started ATO wave 1 😛

The Norwegian War of Independence was estimated delivery August 2020 but they are still working on it and keeping backers informed and another estimated December 2020 1718: Death of a King

Went all in with Return to Planet Apocalypse back in 2020. should be delivered in Q1 2022. untill now they did not even start to develope it.

I'm in the same boat with Soul Raiders. Looked like a great game 3 years ago, now I'm not sure ai am interested anymore. We'll see if it ever arrives.

This entire video is "I'm in this photo and I don't like it". Halfway through it I pulled up KS/GF/BK and went over how many game have yet to fill. If you really want to facepalm, also look at games you decided not to back that have already filled and are well regarded *stares at Wonderland's War in regret* while adding up money spent on games 2+ years ago that haven't filled yet...

I feel this way about Trudvang Legends... finally got the game after like 3-4 years, game wasn't even half baked, it was like a quarter-baked. I get a chuckle when I see ppl harping on CMON asking when the rest of the game is shipping, it's like, the game is complete crap, so who cares when the rest of the "crap" is arriving. Like you said, might as well be dead. Oh, and HEL the Last Saga... cool that CMON picked it up but I'm not putting anymore $$, even if it's just shipping, to get a core box. In typical CMON fashion they'll have 5-6 expansions and I'll end up plunking down 100's again, yea, just not doing it.

Still anticipating Freedom Five. It was originally planned to deliver in November of 2021. I had actually only backed at $5 to have access to the pledge manager. As the delivery expectation kept getting pushed back and after I moved away from a friend who had backed a copy, I decided to go ahead and up my pledge to what I wanted. So, it hasn't felt like I've been waiting that long. Still, I'm pretty excited for it when it finally comes- hopefully before the end of the year.

Yep everything is showing up lol. I just got Pest, Primal, Evolution Another World, All of Tainted Grail, Atlas Lost, Axon Protical, Alter, 7th Citadel, AEG Extravaganza, Foundations of Rome and Black Rose Wars. I literally got Foundations of Rome yesterday and then Black Rose Wars today. I ran out of shelf space and many are sitting on the floor lol. As for the reaction, im actually having the opposite reaction were I am excited to play the ones that just showed up, as opposed to those that I have had and haven't played yet.

Yeah, so starting last fall a bunch of my outstanding crowdfunding projects started delivering and I too am buried and overwhelmed. I stopped backing almost completely, my exception being expansions for games I already have and enjoy, but even then I'm mostly waiting for retail. My most outstanding games are wave 2 of Darkest Dungeon (which they never responded to my email question so I doubt I'll ever get my copy), Hel (I'm happy CMON is offering a core box, but am praying they don't change the minis), Black Rose Wars Rebirth, which is supposedly delivering but Bridge is insanely slow), and Stormsunder.... Yeah. Luckily everything else is either on time, or reasonably late and currently in production/shipping phase. I've been very lucky in my purchasing choices overall.

Remember the dumb black Friday sales on the Dawn of Madness? A few days after that, I decided to cancel my pledge. It was very frustrating. I'm still waiting on Street Masters Tide of the Dragon, which has been sitting in a warehouse for a few years, and now it looks like Red Joker might have gone belly up with Okko Chronicles. (Thanks King of Average!) Also waiting on all of the Tanares stuff. Finally shipping from China now.

I backed Chai Tea for 2. We aren't salty. The campaign has been horribly run. They took them money and ran. Their updates were few and far between and then ramp up around convention season every year to make themselves look like they care. All of their updates are either about more problems or backtracking their previous one. Like they have literally said things were in production and then on the next update said they were preparing for production. They refuse to answer any questions. Their last update said they were on boats (BS) and delivery was supposed to be in January. I just feel bad for the people in the comments who look at updates and legitimately think the game is every coming and are still fooled. If the game every shows up it will honestly be a huge shock.

Which is worse: A game that is delivered on time that is bad or a game that suffers a huge delay but is good when it finally delivers? Of course this is a misleading question because often games are delayed because even the publisher thinks they aren't ready and no matter how long the delay is they may still have major problems. Another issue is that the longer a game is delayed the more likely it is to have financial problems and get abandoned just to avoid losing more money. My oldest unfulfilled KS board game that will probably be delivered dates back to 2019. I have 1 from 2020 that has probably failed but they are at least pretending it will be completed. I have 3 from 2021 that may still fail and 2 from 2021 that look like they will finally deliver soon.

My first ever KS (and the worst experience of them all) is Anastyr..😂 I was new to boardgame and didn't know about the background of Mythic Games (all the campaigns they already had on the way). I was just so excited about the game and the fact i could get it in french. I'll be jumping in the CMON train anyway because i'm already 350$ in on that game.. It didn't stop me tho, i now have about 10 other KS/Gamefound on the way and they all doing good for now🤞😁

Tanares was a mess and a nightmare. Yet they seem to think they are doing so well. They have another kickstarter ready as well. Hope people do not fall for that. .even Tanares the boardgame was a shambles

How was crowfunding pre pandemic? Was there as much delays back then? Are delays features to be expected or just a consequence of the state of the world?

I feel lucky. All my super delayed games all showed up over the last year.

Chia Tea for 2.......... they never delivered the previous 'Chai Tea' outside the US, we all got shafted in Europe..

Why the heck Kingdom Folorn is on the list? Delivery is Oct 2024 and I`m sure its going to be delayed, but hell you are doing a bad rep to the published here

I stopped backing way back in 2017 (except once in 2020 - but that was a very special occasion) No game can drug me back into KS backing hell. It is clear KS has no intention to punish companys which treats their pledgers as sh!t or do not even want to deliver just pretending too. KS is full of scam, do not back anything, wait to the BG industry to clear itself from these awful companies and people.

A note on Stellaris, there were a full set of assets shown at Origins, a Year ago; so stating there have been none, is not true. "I still would love to go to a convention and see some physical prototypes, they still just have the cardboard box with nothing with it"

Elf Creek Games performance with Atlantis Rising Monstrosities has been abysmal. Stopped backing crowdfunded projects at the end of 2023 and no intention of starting again plus Elf Creek Games I will never touch again. Retail purchasing from a FLGS is the way forward, no risk and no surprise shipping costs that are higher than the game itself.

Stellaris is an overpriced, underdelivered joke. I can laugh now as I managed to sell my $250 pledge and I'm so glad I did.

Iss vanguard too laughably long as well. Was so disinterested when I finally got it. Was an instant sell.
