So over the course of the summer I had Dylan traveling with me, and I'd bring him up on stage for a few minutes during the bonus time (usually after midnight when most people had gone home). In this case, he seemed to just randomly take over the seminar and did this impromptu. I never coached him on this. I think it serves as a good example of what's possible if you simply make the basic effort to improve. Most adults are terrified of public speaking, but in truth, it's because you are getting in your own way. -Owen

There's a saying that goes "we get so caught up giving our kids what we didn't have, we forget to give them what we did have." I hope Dylan doesn't get too caught in thinking he needs to be loud and agressive, and also learns the home and center of being a kind person that Owen was raised with.

Dylan is awesome, just pure self expression and improvisation, not worried at all. I as an adult would be stuck up and stiff, probably caring too much about what people think, having a hard time even with a prepared speech.

The high status communication got me in, now I'm rampaging and practicing this while reconciling with my colleagues not to call on an intervention 🤣 - recently as I discovered battle rap, this is so much not different, the loud energy the cusses but you have mad respect for your opponent (well most of the time lol) this is like a battle rap with yourself, this is dissolving the P.C 'niceness' out of us and really stepping into a different gear of alertness, clarity, momentum.

So I work in a rehab right, I was doing meditative Ohms because they are highly trauma informed when you get a whole room to do it together. I’m like one of the goofiest mFers ever. One of my clients had an aha moment when he was like, I can’t believe I’m in a fucking rehab with this clown doing ohms. He got all existential and sort of woke up. Yup, that’s your life bub

Haha, I like how his first instinct with the first guy was to be hard on him, like you are with him, and not accept less than what he's capable of, but upon realizing that he is indeed 10 and way more free in his expression, he let up on the guy ever so slightly and just told him we need to work on that. He knew there was no way to condense his 10 years of life, being your son, to the guy on the spot in a seminar, a truly wise realization and distinction most adults are unable to make. The guy took it less seriously and didn't play as full out because Dylan is a kid. He did absolutely awesome considering the fact that you didn't directly coach him to do it, and once he breaks through the social pressure of holding their feet to the fire like you, Jeff, Julien, Sid, or any of your instructors, he'll be a young prodigy. You can tell he enjoyed it and is highly skilled at it. You literally crafted a family business for yourself more than likely, and that's really awesome to see, especially considering the times we're in right now and what you teach.
