Several have asked for Polly's info. If you are in the Minneapolis Metro area I can highly recommend Polly. She is an RN with 17 years of Botox and Filler experience. She works at Skin Artisans at Edina Plastic Surgery. 952-767-3163 As far as cost…it is extremely variable city to city and state to state. They usually charge per unit of Botox and treatment is very individualized in terms of area treated and frequency. I spend about $300 every 6 months for fairly light Botox.

@@lynncrf I don't think it necessarily makes people look older. I just think they're going to the wrong surgeons/cosmetologist because they are allowing their patients to overdo it on the treatments as well as applying it in areas that probably don't even need it. Botox is great to prevent wrinkles and many people start as early as their middle/late 20s. I think those people are just doing it to fit the instagram-face standard and, instead of enhancing their own beauty, they're accommodating their faces to said standard.

Élégance, a bit of make up, good food, a little social life with good friends and fresh air that is the most important things to stay younger and health is also a question of luck no matter what you do! It makes me sad reading some of the comments in here. So many of us women are terrified of ageing when we should not be. I also used to dread getting older and it started as early as 8 years old. I was already doing face masks, using my mom’s creams, doing DIY anti-ageing masks. I have always been super self-conscious about getting older. Then around 25, I started relaxing a little. I mean, it‘s a scary phase because you’re getting closer to 30 and then I realised: well, Whats so wrong about turning 30? 30 is still HOT. It’s not old. And I truly believe that 40 is also still hot, as long as you have maintained yourself physically with exercising and have lived a healthy lifestyle. I realised that this fear of turning 30 mostly came from hearing random (and stupid) men saying that women hit the wall at 30. That we are not desirable from then on. That we are grandmas at that age. Then I paused and looked around me and realised that most of the women from my entourage in their 30s don’t look any different than my 25 year old friends. I realized that the 30 year old women I know still get hit on by both younger and older men. That they are still completely functional and that nothing have changed. Sure, our biological clock is ticking but except from that, most women in their 30s don’t look much different than women in their 20s. At least not where I am from. I am lucky to have pretty good genes that make me look younger than I am. However, I am more than my age and my physical appearance. If we fear ageing, we prove those misogynistic men right. It starts with us. Let’s not be scared of ageing. Let’s not believe in those lies meant to control us saying we age faster and worse than men. It’s not true. We age normally and we should not be embarrassed. Lots of men start going bald at 28 and gaining a beer belly at 32 so they should look in the mirror first. Bottom line is: live a healthy life, stay active, take care of your skin from a young age and give the middle finger to anyone who shames you for not being 21 anymore.

lol I find none of the 2 options attractive. Both are inevitable and the "choice" is more than limited. Either you deteriorate to end up dead anyway or you die, that's it! Not a great inspiring situation! It will lead anyway to death in any cases. It depends how long you want to prolong the deterioration in order to delay the inevitable. I remember the end of one of Lafontaine's fables "better suffering than dying, this is men's "fate"" (not sure how to translate the last word, fate is not right but it gives you the idea!).

Hello! New subscriber here. You are absolutely glowing and beautiful at 61!! I appreciate the history on your journey because sometimes I wonder what it will be like for me when I’m older. I started Botox at 36 and have never done anything else since then and I say this respectfully - but I look like I’m about 10 years younger than my peers! Sometimes I’ll get comments saying they thought I was in my 20’s! I have a 21 yr old son, so this is a huge compliment. I also like to keep it natural, but after seeing your video, I know I’m on the right path!

I started Botox for the 11’s at 45, now at 48 I find I need it less often. I researched this, and found that relaxing the muscles actually “trains” the muscles to not be used, so that lessens the amount you need. Additionally, as the muscles are not used, they naturally atrophy and shrink, so ideally, folks should do as you are, and use less over time. I think you look amazing and I appreciate the tips! I agree that crows feet generally don’t need Botox. My provider did it one time to use up the extra product but I didn’t see the benefit and agree that it’s not necessary.

I have been interested in botox but my friends are very anti-botox and want to embrace aging. But this video made me feel much better about the decision being mine, and it doesnt mean I have low self-worth or dont appreciate my body/natural aging just because I want to try botox.

I am also 29 and have always been against botox but the last few years I've been considering it. I had a poor diet choice for many years and ended up anorexic. It severely aged my face. Not all aging is natural these days, I hate when people make out like we're insecure for not wanting to look aged. I aged very quickly in the face due to the health problems I had and deeply regret my choices. It would be nice to have a bit more confidence back as I don't feel myself. I used to have quite wide eyes and loved eye shadow, due to the health issues I had my eyes are very sunken now and I can't really wear eye shadows.

it's funny because many people who are loud about being against Botox, have no problem with wrinkle creams... I'd rather spend a little money on Botox than throw away hundreds on wrinkle creams that don't work. and for what it's worth, I only get my Botox once a year. I started at 29 and I'm actually getting less now as gravity changes my face.

Nobody seems to talk about or understand that Botox does not actually stay localised as they tell you. It spreads into the central nervous system (research by Queensland university) and as it’s a deadly neurotoxin, it is highly dangerous. So many people are getting sick and have issues but don’t realise it’s from the Botox! Often it’s not the first injection that causes an issue, sometimes it takes years until you start noticing health issues or neurological problems or fatigue etc. People also don’t understand that Botox actually destroys your major neurotransmitter called Acetylcholine which is responsible for almost everything in your body, but is the main neurotransmitter for the brain and when there is a lack of it, this is associated with Dementia. There are going to be millions more causes of early onset Dementia and health problems because of how many people are using Botox without knowing the consequences. You will not easily find this info on Google because big pharma suppress it as Botox is the number one money spinner for them and they actually boast about this is speeches. I’m not sharing this to scare anyone, I just think we as consumers should be correctly informed before making these decisions. There’s a Facebook group for Botox side effects if anyone wants some accurate information

I have had botox in my 11’s and to raise my eyebrows a bit for years and it has made a huge difference. I used to have deep 11’s and even when I don’t get it done on a regular basis it still looks much better then before I started. My daughter had the same thing happen to her. She went to someone different because they were offering a great deal and it ended up costing her more. They told her she needed a lot more then she normally would get. This video has been quite insightful to me. I am actually 2 years older than you, and started with fillers and Botox in my early 50’s. At that point, I was using Botox as a preventive measure. My Botox journey mirrored yours, with the exception of crows feet and my neck. I have never had my neck done, but had far more units that you, in my forehead. Using a few units in my chin area, gave tremendous results. I did it as long as I could afford it, but continued religiously with fillers. Now, like you said, it seems harder and harder to keep up, as my skin continues to lose elasticity. What I deemed as a bit ‘extra’, now seems necessary. This month I am adding Botox back into my maintenance routine. I admit to liking a more ‘plastic’ look, for lack of a better word. I do not want to see fine lines on my forehead and detest marionette lines. I get mine filled annually. Thank you for giving me basic guidelines and expectations. 💙

I am 32yo, big forehead and big lines in progress, so mainly I wanted to fix that but also added between brows and crows feet, as I felt the older I get the smaller my eyes look when I smile 😀 so botox really fixed that! I did mention doctor not wanting the sagging eyebrow effect after B, and also that I would like to improve asymmetry on my eyebrows, it was quite big and magically he made it happen! Having my 11s treated was such a revelation! I had these intense and deep "angry" lines from the age of 20 and by 36 it got to a point where I looked super angry literally all the time, and it definitely has a bad effect on your mood when every reflective surface ""greets" you with a HUGE frown! Now at 39, after 3 years of Botox I only have a faint little wrinkle (on my strong side) where my mega 11s used to be and my brow and forehead areas look more youthful than they did in my late 20s! Thank you for the info about the marionette lines, definitely going to try that next time I have my injections.

My mum does botox and she used tretinoins for over 25 years. These are the best things I've ever seen to look beautiful with age. I personally don't like facelifts, and looks they produce. I have hopped on Tretinoin train since I was 19, let see where it goes and will try botox when I get to 40s 😄

@@katesnyder4107 I used to use tretinoin cream called retirides, when I first started, the ones that are prescribed for acne, I didn't have acne. Later I switched to Elizabeth Arden's retinol, it comes with cermide, bcz ceramides are amazing ingredient to moisturize, it also helps not to have irritation. It comes in individual capsules in a jar, so the ingredients are stable for each new application. I also love the retinol B3 serum from La Roche posay.

It is so important to use a PROFESSIONAL for these treatments. I receive my Botox and fillers from a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in the face, head and neck. This is all that he does. I could not imagine anyone else working on my face. He is an artist!

Tamara, just came across this video. Just wanted to share that at 49 I just started Botox. You are so on point, you have to find an injector with experience and with the appropriate bedside manner. Some one that can listen and help you achieve your goals. I have had 2 treatments and so far loving my Botox journey. Like you I have an asymmetric face with a high left eyebrow and has help alot to make it look even. Thanks so much for your video.

Thank you, Tamara. I am 62 and spent about 5 years doing Botox and fillers in my 50’s. As I let those fade away I decided to allow my face to do its thing and use that money to buy fashionable clothes. I get so many compliments on my outfits than I ever did on my facial treatments. However, I do use surgical tape on my 11’s at night and that keeps them softened.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I feel this is a well informed video and a very similar experience I am having and HOPE to have as I continue to age. I am a lot younger and want to just age gracefully as well. I am happy with my current process . I am 33 and started using Botox and filler at 30. I love the PA I use . She keeps me very natural and listens and communicates well. I have strong elevens that make me looks angry and stressed. She never upscales and we try things and we learn from what I do and don’t like . I have gone to her all together a total of 3 or 4 times . I have been desiring to return just to get Botox in my elevens and my husband (we are married only one year) is upset and frightened by the idea of my face changing too much but I will be sharing this video with him . Thank you for this post !

Loved watching this! I'm 29 and not interested in getting Botox, but I have noticed that my right eye is becoming much more hooded than the left. It is making me self conscious, and it is good to know that if it becomes more dramatically asymmetrical as I age, I have nonsurgical options to boost my confidence. It's so important to feel good about how you present yourself to the world! I thought Botox was just for wrinkles, migraines and excessive sweat lol I'm glad to have learned something new :)

Hi Amanda, do you wear contact lenses on daily basis? My friend is 33 years old and one of her eye lids started to be droopy to the point of people noticing it and pointing it out. She went to an eye doctor and now she had to do a surgery for that eye droopiness because it obstructed her vision. The eye doctor told her that it is because of contact lenses which actually happens to some people wearing them for many years. My friend did a lasik surgery because the doctor said that if she has a surgery she would have to wear glasses or the eye droopiness would come back. Her surgery is scheduled for November, but me and some of her friends already noticed that her eye lid somehow does not seem as droopy as before after the lasik surgery.

You look amazing! I just turned 28 yesterday and I am starting to see little age lines on my smile and forehead. I plan on keeping it as natural as possible with sunscreen serums and facials well at least until I’m a bit older but I have been curious about Botox. I don’t plan on using any until my late 30s early 40s and this video totally confirmed my decision to wait until I am a bit older. Thank you you are gorg!

Good Morning, Tamara! Very interesting video, I have never thought much of Botox before I have always associated Botox with "big lips" or something negative. I really enjoyed your hearing about the relationship you have with your doctor and why you chose to do Botox - I have a "softer" view of it now :) Have a wonderful week, and I look forward to next Sunday as always :) When I was in the hospital - I would have loved to have you as my nurse (your eyes and voice are so comforting) - as I had a very traumatic accident (March 2019 - I fractured my femur in 3 different places, I still can't walk without a walker (long story, but I still need another surgery). Thank you again, Tamara - I appreciate the time it takes to keep up your channel and make content relevant to all different viewers.

Mmm idk about filler because we now know that it doesn’t dissolve on its own, but instead can migrate throughout the face and give you an overall rounded, puffy appearance. Botox or Dysport seem relatively safe though.
@schafswiese

@@gummy5862 agreed. Botox & fillers faulsly get put into one category, but they are not at all same. Try out Botox, no problem. But filler, be very careful AND FO YOUR RESEARCH! until this day most injectors won't tell you the long term truth about fillers. But it's coming to light more and more, what we have always suspected looking at those swollen celebraty faces. Only remember, they have the means to get the filler damage corrected by the best doctors, we don't. Even desolving the synthetic hyaluronic acid comes with its own risks, like your body's own hyaluron getting desolved along side. It's a very tricky subject with fillers. Botox on the other hand, you can try it out no problem, risks to cause any long term damage are minimal

Unless your face has lost drastic amount of fat, it's better to avoid fillers. Botox and after a centain age a neck lift goes a long way to produce beautiful looks. Eyebrow transplant is another one that really helps if people lose their eyebrows.

@@schafswiese That is incorrect information. Unless you are a doctor, please refrain from disinformation regarding the dissolving of one’s filler. It does not disrupt the body’s natural production of hylauronic acid. Dr. Anil Rajani on KZfaq addresses this exact issue at length for those who want a more fulsome discussion and peer reviewed scientific data.

@@user-mc6zk8tc8c Not exactly accurate. If your face has lost a large amount of weight, no amount of filler is going to help it. The loose skin issue is best tackled with a facelift. Fillers are fine. They stimulate collagen production and in the right hands, are subtle and beautiful. Real Self is a great website resource for information re: every kind of cosmetic procedure, including customer satisfaction ratings of different fillers.
