Beautiful '59!!! Gorgeous aircooled machines you have. I'm a VW dude, too. Got a 76 fiberglass bodied trike, a 68 Beetle, and my baby: a 67 splitwindow Sundial camper. Glad I found your channel!!!

I think you just convinced me on the whole 'original' patina concept. Amazing to have found such a historically intact time capsule...and you preserved its history and appreciated all of it. Amazing...

Glad to see you enjoyed it! Trying to help convince people 1 by 1 original is best! They are only survivors one time.

@@vintagehotrods Thanks man! I'm a 66 and earlier guy myself. I have a pretty nice 65 to start with. I also have a ragtop roof from a 63 I'm going to graft into it. I bought the car less motor thinking I could find a nice running dual port for it somewhere cheap....well , I'm not connected in the VW community , so I have not found anything decent for a decent price yet. I don't do Instagram , but my wife does , so maybe I may hit you up if I have any questions. Thanks

Almost identical to 1959 Australian spec except for: - flat accelerator pedal in lieu of roller - because Australia is right-hand drive, the driver gained a door armrest and the passenger missed out. - no passenger sun visor - seats were leatherette - speedo in mph - ignition key slot in lieu of that knob. Btw what does that knob operate? Had the car in early 70's. Did a few "mods": - extractor exhausts - anti-sway bars front and rear - Firmer shock absorbers - converted headlights to US spec - installed radio and speaker

I do believe someone had a fog light hooked to that knob at one point, but im not entirely sure because there was no wiring to or from it.

Does the blinker “flap” like that, or was that you turning the blinker on and off?
@vintagehotrods3 жыл бұрын
Once you press the turn signal lever it flips out and stays lit. Then when you cancel the signal the light goes out and it returns. They technically dont blink. It flips out and stays lit and that is the turn signal. Which is why they were illegal in the states
