This time I'll take you with me to my first ever Swedish Valborg celebrations in the open-air museum "Skansen" in Stockholm. 🇸🇪
Valborg (= Walpurgis night) is an ancient tradition that was originally about scaring away witches and evil spirits by lighting big fires, the so-called "Majbrasor". 🔥
Back in the day, whole villages would gather around these fires and make loud sounds to scare off evil forces.
Nowadays, Valborg is all about celebrating that spring has finally arrived.
Especially after the long and cold winter months in Sweden, people are longing for the light and warmth that spring is bringing. ☀️🌱
