In August this year I sold my 2009 Triumph Daytona 675SE and purchased a 2013 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. The bike is an ex demonstrator from my local Honda dealer and it had done 880 miles. It has now done 1700 miles and I have owned the bike for 6 weeks so thought I would do a 6 week review describing my own personal views of performance, comfort, looks and owning an iconic bike like a Honda Fireblade.

I like your review and your approach to riding! I am also thinking of upgrading to this bike. I could do with a few more horses yet I am not intending to rev the hell out of this motor. I want it to last and to know that I do have power whenever it is needed! Thanks for the video Sir ! Have fun riding !!!

+andree hammerschmidt Hi Andree, thank you for your kind words. I love my bike and like you said knowing it has the power if needed is piece of mind. I class myself as a sensible rider, yes I open it up now and again but I don't rev the hell out of it. I like to look after it because I want it to last me for years. Go for it, you won't regret it.

Cool I just got my first fireblade a few days ago and your are right the shifting doesn't feel as smooth and the engine sound isn't exactly as appealing but maybe with a slip on pipe? Anyway your are right bike is smooth smooth smooth don't know how they do their power delivery but you go fast almost without feeling it, it is just there.

Nice review mate. I sold my 2012 blade for my 2013 R1, regret doing so. The R1 is a fun bike but in terms of living with a superbike the fireblade is hands down a better machine in every way. May go back to a blade this year.

Jessica, if your husband has jumped from a 600RR to a 1299 I'm not surprised he hates it. I don't know how experienced he is obviously but you need plenty of experience in order to commit to the 1299. It's hard work to get into the 'personality' but they are worth persevering with. IMHO

Cracking review of the Blade. We have more in common than I realised having been a 675 Owner back in 2009. Moved into the IBA World so went with the FJR in 2010 and the XT1200Z in 2012 BUT so happy to be back on a HONDA CBR. Greta Video and now subscribed so keep em coming.

How did you find going from a Daytona to the fireblade? Did it feel like a massive jump or was it handleable?

hello i am consdering buying a new bike though i am comparing between Honda cbr100rr or yamaha r1 what do you think is better it terms of look , performance and comfort ? thanks for the help
@LawAbidingCitizen0365
@LawAbidingCitizen0365 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment omar. I haven't ridden an R1 so can't really compare but it all comes down to personal choice when you think which bike is better looking. I do believe the Honda is a more comfortable ride and performance wise you are never going to use all the power available anyway so if one has a slightly faster top end, quicker acceleration or a few more bhp to me that is irrelevant. I think it all boils down to which you find more comfortable and like the look of. For me it was definitely the Honda. Hope you make the right choice and are happy with it.

It is an awesome bike and I can not fault it at all. The power delivery is superb right across the power band and the sound from the Yoshimura really compliments this.

is the power delivery scary compared to your old daytona? does it handle better?
@LawAbidingCitizen0365
@LawAbidingCitizen0365 10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment bob. The power delivery isn't scary it just puts a BIG smile on your face as you open the throttle. As for the handling the Daytona was much lighter and narrower so loved corners but that isn't to say the blade is shy when it comes to cornering. The blade feels more stable in general road riding due to the weight, wider tyres etc.

Thanks for your comment. Lived in that area for 11 years with wife (now separated) and kids, now live 10 miles further in land at Fordingbridge on the edge of the New Forest, very nice indeed. Some people comment on my accent and say they don't understand me but most are fine. I'm proud of my accent and proud of my North Manchester roots.

@LawAbidingCitizen0365

+MrJIMBOISAWESOME There are no electronics on this bike like there are on the BMW or other similar bikes.........Honda have confidence in their riders to possess the skills it takes to handle a bike like this and not rely on electronic aids that you will hardly ever need to use
