I live in a city where there is Free DC fast charging , so for the past 9 months of owning my MME i haven't spend any. Thanks to Flo for providing this free charger. I live in an apartment building and home charging is not possible. True that range plummet significantly during winter but me mostly doing city driving it doesn't really affect me just have to FRee charge often... used to spend bout 300 Canadian dollar on gas with my Prior vehicle which is a Jeep Wrangler. In short ❤ my Mach E

Also show maintenance, like the tesla guys do, as a ford owner, i'm used to literally everything failing (not just the ice). Vent flapper, ptu, rear diff, rear seat / heat/cool, a lot of sensors fail, wheel bearings, sunroof issues (might be maintenance), brake calipers, and toe links.

I have an EV (Ioniq 5) and would like to offer an additional way to calculate fuel cost savings: Just divide your EV's miles per kWh into your electricity cost per kWh and you get the cost-per-mile. Do the same for an ICE, dividing the cost per gallon by the miles per gallon. Take the difference and that is your savings-per-mile. I get 3.4 miles per kWh and my electric rate is .16/kWh (😳) so my cost is .047 per mile. Multiply this number by miles driven per year and you get your annual fuel cost.
@MrGamman3yt

Not correct. The electrical costs have all kinds of riders that raise with use. It's crazy hard to figure out. As someone who charges fees back to tenants.

Yep, that's how I figure mine. My '23 MME awd extended battery GT costs me between two and two and a half cents per mile to drive, depending on the season. Fuel price, 2¢ a mile - Driving fun - Priceless!

I am on what's called Live Pricing with my electric company and at night my kWh are very low. 1 to 2 cent a kWh. With all the driving I do, my Electric Bill has only gone up about 30 maybe 40 dollars a month. If I am off, then 50 dollars top.

Our elec cost is 11 cents kwh - we don't have time of day - so our would cost a lot more. I'm thinking about getting a '23 MachE so our watching all the reviews I can find. I don't drive a lot - and we do have solar at home but would have to wire in a 240v line into the building (garage not attached).
@evandtechlife
@evandtechlife 5 ай бұрын
I think with the 11 cents kwh it would be cheaper than gas. I know for me and the area I live in, it worked out for me. If I wasn't on the live pricing plan, I think it would be 9 cents kwh.
@mjsabie8517
@mjsabie8517 5 ай бұрын
I also pay 11 cents/kwh with no off peak rates. I can tell you for sure it is WAY cheaper than ICE cars. I get about 3.5 miles/kwh in the warmer months which equates to under $32 to drive 1000 miles. In the winter in NW Indiana (so yes we get cold) I averaged about 2.7 miles/kwh which would make it about $40 to drive 1000 miles. Plus you factor in no oil changes and with 1 pedal driving I will likely never have to replace the brakes

Hi Brent, My Electric company is SCE (Soutgern California Edison) and I am on a Agricultural Rate of 5 cents per kilowatt. I rarely charge my 2023 Tesla Model Y from 0-100 % and normally charge from 40-80%. With all the miscellaneous other charges on my electric bill, what is the best way to calculate my energy usage which I'm using 240V 32amp during my charge.

So what does Ford recommend for charging, 80% or 100%? How much mileage in the summer at 80% charge?

@@evandtechlife When I charge my EV to 80%, it tells me I'm good for 265mi but that's all theory because I generally recharge when it gets down to 25%. Right now, it's at 32% with 106mi left. It will probably read around 50-60 miles when at 25%. You know, this is the first time I actually tried to find out my range between charging. I know it's supposed to be close to 4.0mi/kwh. @@evandtechlife some utubers that had a Mach E said their cars were in the shop for one week or more . Some said the car just died and Ford couldn’t fix it for a few days. Some people were having problems getting into their cars, software issues. I like the look of the machine E but maybe watching too many videos seems Mach E was having more problems than the Hyundai Ioniq 5. I guess I just don’t want to have the same problem I had years ago with my Ford, it was a lemon and Ford didn’t do a thing for me except take my money. Great video and thanks for replying.

I have 4 neighbors all close friends, and each owns either a '22 or '23 Mach-E (I bought a '24 :Lyriq) None of us have any regrets switching to EV's. And none have reported any software issues that were not cleared up immediately by Ford. The issues were mostly with Blue Cruise. GM super Cruise has not had any issues for me. I don't have a YT channel because I have nothing to report. We all took a road trip together in December for a cross country ski trip and had a blast. Our 5 EV's handled the trip nicely and in comfort. I am not switching back to ICE. My advice is to buy the biggest battery offered You cannot not go wrong with that decision.

Your math logic is wrong, unfortunately. You fail to consider the number of total miles you can drive per kWh (which is an EV’s eMPG). That will determine the number of times you need to charge per month x 13 months x your price per kWh to charge. Your math is off by a factor of 10x (200 miles x 13 months = 2600 miles) but you’ve driven 26,000 miles in 13 months). I’m not saying EVs are not more efficient than gas (ICE) vehicles, but the $ analysis is more involved than your math). Other EV vs. ICE cost savings include no tune ups, no oil changes, no belts, radiator etc to monitor or maintain). On the flip side, EVs eat up tires faster than ICE vehicles due to the faster acceleration, cornering, braking). This results in faster tire wear and replacement. 4x Michelin tires cost upwards of $900 - $1200 these days..
@blotdjarl
@blotdjarl 4 ай бұрын
How the user is driver also affects the cost of maintenance. If you drive regularly within the speed limit and don't accelerate like a mad man, I'm sure that would make a significant impact. But these EVs are heavy so ofc that affects the tires regardless
@evandtechlife
@evandtechlife 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information. I know the other night I put 49 kWh into my MME and I was being charged 1.5 cents a kWh which cost about 75 cents to get the charge I needed for the next day.

I respectfully suggest that the math was very accurate when you figure in the reduced range in the winter, tailwinds, long up and downhills. Did you wind up needing to charge outside your home much? If so do you think that was comparable to gas costs? I enjoyed your video.
