This is my updated ranking of all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums for 2023! This list has changed a bit since I ranked the ballparks 1-30 over on TIkTok last year, because of new renovations, new ballpark visits, and a slight change in my ranking criteria. Let me know how you think I did down in the comments!

Plus the atmosphere is electric right now. I went to a game in July 2021, and the buzz inside the ballpark (as well as outside in the surrounding downtown area) was almost like a playoff experience. I really was blown away, it was only July. And they were shut out in that game as well. Didn't matter, the fans were into the entire game.

The best baseball experience I've ever had was at progressive field. It was the 'Bug Game' during the playoff series against the yankees in 2007. We didn't know what was going on until they showed a close up of chamberlain on the screen and he was covered in the midges, then we looked up to the lights and they were everywhere, tens of thousands of them. The yankees couldn't deal with the bugs but the Indians powered through. After the Indians tied it up (I think it was the 7th inning) the 44,000 plus fans were going all out. Then we have extra innings and in the 11th, Travis Hefner hits the walk off single and the stadium erupted. It was downright magical. I also got to witness 2 different triple plays in that stadium. All this to say that sure, you can rank stadiums on material things but those experiences are what give them value to the fans, and all of them have value. Great video, thanks for making me think about my favorite baseball experience!

I'd put T-Mobile in the Perfect category. There isn't a bad seat in the park, the bullpen plaza and center field standing room create an awesome vibe, and the sunset views are incredible. The best food/beer selection in the league too IMO.
@jefffinkbonner9551
@jefffinkbonner9551 Жыл бұрын
I'd put it a step below perfect. The 300 level in right field and the center field bleachers are pretty terrible seats. I love the bullpen plaza from the concourse angle, but I feel like so many home runs just go into the bullpens instead of the wait arms of fans in left and left-center field. The sunsets over Puget Sound are gorgeous, but you really can't see them from inside the stadium too well. The outdoor plaza outside the 300 level along the 3rd base line is incredible, though! I'm nitpicking, but I do love the place. The food/beer selection is really great, as you said.

@@jefffinkbonner9551 I'm a big fan of the CF bleachers since they cost like $10 on the secondary market. 300 RF definitely sucks but I'll give it the credit for being the absolute last place in the stadium to keep sunlight. I'll take some warmth up there as a redeemable quality.

Love this tier list! Everything is pretty much where I would put them myself and I've been to 23 stadiums. I'd definitely put Truist Park in the Elite category. It's a top-5, top-10 ballpark, easy. There's not a bad seat, the food is great, and The Battery is awesome and it's definitely a neighborhood that's open year round with restaurants, bars, and fun things to do. Having five decks means every seat is on top of the field. Having 10K less seats than the cavernous Turner Field makes for a much more intimate 42K or so, and the the last row of the upper deck at Truist is actually closer to the field than the first row of the upper deck at The Ted.

Hey, I enjoyed your commentary on each ball park, for the most part, your ranking is pretty damn close to what I think I would pick and you’ve been to a lot more stadiums than me, being from Philadelphia, I appreciate the “great”ranking, we do pride our self, as being one of the few cities that have all our stadiums in one location, and while they are surrounded by the parking lots, there are a few walkable venues close by there is a restaurant in the stadium that you can get to from the outside also, and there is a full entertainment venue across the street where the old arena The Spectrum used to be,called Xfinity Live, and now we have a brand new casino/hotel a block away from our stadiums called Live, that is where the old Holiday Inn stadium used to be. Great video 👍⚾️

The roof at Miller Park (Milwaukee) is more to prevent rain-outs (vs keeping out cold). I've been at games with heavy lightning, flood warnings, hail, tornado watches - you name it. Games played on. As far as "nothing around" - a lot of bars and restaurants have shuttles to and from games; there is also a district just north of the stadium that has several bars and restaurants. A lot of fans actually tailgate in the lots before games.

Progressive Field in Cleveland put up those "shipping containers" to reduce the seating capacity. I thought you liked it because of the friendly vibes for your generation. There's an area which you can mingle with others that's your age. Then there's the bar area north of the ballpark within walking distance of the park. One of the things that would be removed from it will be the restaurant that's in the glass enclosed pavilion which is down the third base line. Not bad for a 28 year old ballpark. So, I would put it in the good not great.

Cold temperatures are MAYBE a problem in Minnesota for the first couple weeks of April and the later weeks in October. And not even every April or every October. It just wasn't worth the hundreds of millions of extra dollars it would have cost to put in a roof. And given how tight the footprint they had to fit Target Field into was, it probably would have either had to be built like a box that feels like it's indoors even when the roof is up (which is my problem with Miller Park), or they would've had to move it to a different location. And the location is just too perfect, both from a sightline perspective and because of the transportation options in the area, to pass up on it just for the 5-10 games a year that need it. All this is to say, I think Target Field should be a tier higher.

It's a great thing fans don't show up to Great American Ballpark. Reds COO shit on fans last year and asked where people were going to go. And fans answered. Fans won''t support an owner who trades everyone and has a low payroll. Espexially when every other team in the city is doing well. Shouldn't be a negative at all. Should show how passionate Reds fans are. Hopefully they get sold soon.

Great list! I think you could have ranked the Rogers Centre or as Jays Fans like to call it the SkyDome a little bit higher because it crosses off many of the categories that you talked about in the video. 1) It is a hitters park 2) It is located in the heart of downtown Toronto(top 10 city N.A) which will provide fans easy access to a variety of dining and entertainment options. 3) You can see the CN Tower while you are watching the game if the retractable roof is open I agree that they could make use of upgrading and creating more seating areas to improve the overall fan experience and my main problem with the SkyDome is that it is a stadium and not an actual baseball park which is why I would never rank it in the top 2 tiers but I believe it could land in tier 3.
@omnipotent_arcanis
@omnipotent_arcanis 11 ай бұрын
I do like the renovations they have done and definitely would have it higher. I would also point out that SkyDome is also historically important with its roof. It was the first MLB park with a retractable dome, so it should get marks for that reason (and yea I am aware that 1989 is nowhere near the age of other parks but come on we are an expansion club). Also even when the Jays are not doing well the atmosphere in the stadium is always great.

The stadium isn't in the best location (it's several miles away from the city) but it's a great ballpark with great seating and it's been well maintained despite its age. When I went to Dodger Stadium in 2012, I thought it was overrated, as there just was not much to the history part of the ballpark. And like the way you felt about the Guaranteed Rate Park (I still think of it as US Cellular or Comiskey II), I could not go to other sections of the ballpark to explore, even after the game has ended. I would have put it in Flawed, as I came away so disappointed. Compare to that of Angel Stadium, which was a much better experience for me. But it does look like I will have to make a return visit to Dodger Stadium, with all the renovations that have happened since then. I have been to 25 out of the 30 current stadiums, and I find myself liking the PNC, Oracle and Busch the best. So those would be Perfect for me.

Good ranking. Lifelong STL'n and Cardinals fan, and I think "elite but not perfect" is about right for Busch. Perfect on playoff nights in October, but man it can be brutally hot in the summer before the sun sets; and while "Ballpark Village" is fun, it's put a lot of small business bars and restaurants out of business downtown. I hope you get there for a weekend or playoff game because I would argue for the best game-day atmosphere in MLB. I'd also knock off a few points for in-stadium food amenities, I think personally they are second-rate. Best are the Kohn's Pastrami Dogs by section 144.

also as a dallas native i’d go even further than saying “not very walkable” for Globe Life. Arlington is the biggest city in the US with no public transportation and they have very strict laws about minimum numbers of parking spots per building. absolute joke of a city that is entirely hostile to pedestrians and a complete concrete eyesore with no interesting topography to speak of. also globe life looks like a costco.

you should come to an a’s game on 4th of July or when the Giants come across town before the coliseum is gone. despite its flaws it has a vibe that’s unlike any other ballpark i’ve ever been to. the fans are awesome and the atmosphere is great. if only the ownership wasn’t deplorable and it had been well maintained and renovated I don’t even think you’d have to built a new park. it’s way too far gone now though obviously

They tore down all the mechanics around Citi Field. This is to make way for a stadium for the New York City Football Club MLS team opening up in hopefully 2027. Hopefully that will make the Willets Point section of Queens better.

Dude, if Petco is not in your perfect tier than you have no cred with me. With walkable top tier entertainment district “Gas Lamp “ just steps away for great night life and fantastic dining, a central downtown location, perfect weather even in April and September, amazing in park food and beverage options (over 25+ local brewery options),views of our downtown skyline and the Coronado bridge, and easy to get to from anywhere in San Diego. I have been to Pittsburgh, Wrigley and SF parks, and while they are great parks as well, NOTHING, I mean nothing, compares to Petco. Reclassify Petco as elite as I think you may have not been to the park is all I can come up with. If you come, I will host you to a game 5 rows up from the Padres dugout and you’ll get the whole Petco tour and see a great Padres game and the elite San Diego Petco experience.

Problem with San Diego, is the same problem with the Bay. Which is mostly a California problem. Honestly both parks feel the same especially outside of the park with the vagrants etc. Design wise I edge in favor of sf but only cause I'd rather look at the oakland hills and bay Bridge rather than western metal building.

You literally described pnc in a nutshell. Access to great nightlife/hotels/casino/dining anywhere you want right on north shore or take the T over to Main Street downtown and walk to the point and enjoy the fountain. Or if that’s not your speed take the T over to southside and enjoy the nightlife over there and hit the incline. You said you’ve been to Pittsburgh but I can tell you didn’t experience Pittsburgh. There’s a reason most people who have lived here always come back. The city is gravity.

Tell me, what exactly keeps Coors Field out of being in the Elite ranking? Since it has what you've dinged other parks for not having: a nice, thriving, historic neighborhood around the park with lots of dining and drinking options and there's no giant expanse of parking lot to be found, so it's absolutely walkable. I'd figure it'd be a shoe-in. Just my bias, I guess, it's my beloved home park. Thanks for the like, anyway.

When I go to a ballpark, I'm more of a background observer during games. So my opinion on angel stadium, dodger stadium, and some others, not much of a background look. I also grew up going to texas rangers games and I have never had complaints about the new ballpark. It's close to the old ballpark and dallas cowboys too.

The Rogers Centre was very cutting edge when it opened as Skydome. But today it's dated in two important ways. The stadium was designed to host both football and baseball. Some sports can share a stadium, like football and soccer. The sight lines are extremely similar. But baseball is different. Baseball requires stadiums to be designed around it to maximize the experience. I am kinda disappointed you didn't give it at least some credit for the location it is in. There are a lot of breweries and bars near the stadium, there are multiple hotels and touristy things to do within 2 minutes of RC, and the transit system provides A LOT of access to the area if you want to explore, or stay a little further away from downtown to save some money.
@thenachofan7677

Yeah, touristy things ... like the Tower! That's kinda hard to miss. Location in the heart of the city, walkable... That sure needed to be mentioned and taken into account for a higher grade. However, I thought that as the latest take on multipurpose (gridiron football/baseball) stadiums, the Skydome did better in terms of seating layout (behind home plate, seats are at the right level compared to ...just about any cookie-cutter stadium that came along in the 25 years prior to its opening, or at least it's the impression rendered on TV).
