I got my ancestry results at the end of July last year. Found out my dad wasn't my dad, I was a sperm donor baby, and I found three surprise half siblings! It's actually the best thing to happen to me and I absolutely love my new siblings!!! So fun to see the health reports and compare ancestry to 23&me, you should try ancestry too if you've only done 23&me. :)

Which do you feel is better since you’ve done both, ancestry or 23andme ?

@@tricelively8246 I think 23andme had a more accurate ethnicity profile for me but other people say Ancestry was better for them, just depends they're both different. If you're looking to find out info/ do DNA research I would highly suggest just doing both. Both companies have a huge database of users but a lot of people only test with one or the other. I would probably suggest doing Ancestry first because that's pretty much everyone's go to and it's cool to do the family tree research on there. 23andme is fun for finding out health tidbits and has a prettier interface but Ancestry is definitely the place to build your family tree, their system for that can't be beat.

I purchased the kit and learned I’m 40% Irish and British, asian and I already knew I was African American . The kit connected me to over 5000 family members, and I’ve learned so much about my health and ancestors. My 4th great grandmother was raped by a slave master in the UK. I have been able to speak to his grandchildren. Crazy! I know!! Technology is amazing & this is to much for me to take in. However, it’s a blessing

I'm so happy I came across your video, I was actually adopted from Colombia when I was 4 months old and only have information on my birth mother. As for my birth father all it states is that he was dark and robust..... which doesn't help me in the slightest. I've been thinking about ordering 23 and me for a while but haven't done so and I think I'm going to purchase today.

I did AncestryDNA last year after finding out that I could have fathered a child and didn't know it in 1980 while stationed overseas. Well, according to them I did and I'm a grandfather. Wished I could have known this before I was medically retired because I was in their area a good bit and we may have seen each other and didn't realize it. Now I'm wondering if I have any more I don't know about.

Im very familiar with my mom’s family but I know nothing about my father’s. My mom always felt guilty about not knowing which of two guys it was and neither wanted a kid. But she nailed the parent game. I had a brilliant childhood. She got me a kit for my own sake. Waiting on my results so I’m pretty stoked. Not scared just very curious. Maybe I have siblings. Maybe I’m an auntie 🥰

@@sandrajohnson8654 welp. I’m half Irish ☘️ and British. Almost exactly. Nothing exciting or informative. We took a hard look at all of my cousins names (4th and 5th mostly) and it’s all on my mom’s side. She felt awful like this could bring answers but I’m okay. My paternal side hasn’t done a test yet. Gave me tons of good news about genetic diseases but nothing popped up. But still it’s good news ❤️

If you have one of your biological parents take the test you will get more detailed ancestry information, a more detailed family tree and you will know how you are related to your DNA relatives.

I did a DNA test a few months ago, not expecting much in the way of surprises, as I knew my ancestry pretty well. Grandparents all born in Finland, and you didn't get to anyone not born there for 3 more generations, where you got a bit of Swedish and German (holdovers from the wars between Sweden and Russia). As expected, I came back as predominately Finnish, and they were even able to narrow it down to small regions in Finland, from which I knew I had ancestors. The surprise came as a result of 2% Inuit. After a bit of research, this seems to originate with the Sámi, which are a people that live in the Northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and a bit into Russia. They are the only recognized indigenous people in Europe.

I’m from Scotland, both sets of my grand parents are Irish and always assumed that my heritage was Irish, but I got 10% Ashkenazi Jewish and 2% Iberian.

These are all excellent questions. I was definitely surprised about the small Japanese and Jewish roots discovered. I was also surprised to see that my ancestors were recently in Mexico. I've never known of a connection with Mexico. As far as Latina Americans, I would say in general most would expect to find a blend of Indian and/or African with colonizer roots. Of course recent migration trends would also known like Italians to Argentina and Jewish families throughout South America due to World War II. I find it all fascinating. I'm excited to get my results. I already know that I am Irish, British, and German, from my mom for sure. But I don't know from my dad's side. I have my dad but we don't really have any great grandparents to know where we came from from my dad's side. So I'm most likely going to be like a mutt with a bunch of hues of blue and then whatever I got from my dad's side.

So these smaller DNA percentages.... does that mean somewhere in your ancestry you had someone from those places or you just happen to share DNA similarities in the same way humans share DNA similarities with chimps?

Did ancestrydna but I have been curious about this one too! I think my twin sister may have done this one and My Heritage so everything but ancestrydna, which I did lol!! I wonder if I did this too, maybe we would match and it would prove to me she is my twin! I was adopted and I think she was removed at birth! She follows me on Yelp but stopped talking to me and still follows me! I just want to know why she is treating me like this! She reviewed both Heritage sites so I think she wants me to know which ones she did publicly so I will do it too! I am Native American, Lots of European mainly German, Spanish and Italian and Mexican and African American! At one point, ancestrydna said I had 2% Jewish so I wonder if this would give different results too!! According to 23&Me, I’m about 78% African , 20% European, less than 1% Asian/Native American, and less than 1% unassigned. I did a video about my ancestry using the MyHeritage platform on my channel! Slightly different results.

I'm so sorry I missed your questions. I was very pleased with the results and service. They add to the results continuously, which has been really fun to see. Of course I would love to know more but I know there is only so much that I can get from it as a first generation American. I don't see how I can get more from 23&Me right now unless a lot more people start using it in South America and Spain (which is where my roots are).

This means you may truly be part of The Covenant. This is why you can’t trace ancestry. This land was diverse as it is vast, and the land of Our Father, the land of Shem, the seasonal lands, the best lands, had many tribes dwelling in it before She was invaded, close to 600 tribes. Now look deeper culturally to the tribe your lineage is linked, learn more of their heritage.

I just read this "To make matters worse, some of the biggest ancestry companies are owned in part by pharmaceutical giants or data companies-meaning your personal DNA information may be handed over to corporations to turn a profit." Why do u have to pay $29 monthly?

You don't "have to" pay a monthly fee. I subscribed to their services so that I'm able to get updated information as they become available and connect to DNA relatives. I did my research on 23 And Me and I found it to be an ethical and pretty transparent company when you do your due diligence and read their terms of service. I also appreciate that they continuously ask for permission to use the information they gather from you as they continue to do their research (which you can obviously say no to). I personally don't have a problem with 23 And Me using the DNA data they gather with permission from users to develop life-changing medication. I believe it's the government's responsibility to regulate so that these medications become available equitably to its population - from DNA companies like this AND pharmaceutical companies, especially when the government often funds the medical research that develops these medications but citizens get nothing in return for the use of their tax money. Anyone knows how to take this kind of ancestry test in Bangladesh? I have checked some out and they don’t ship it here. I have been very curious about this since the last few years. Both my father and mother are fair-skinned. My dad is Bangladeshi and from Chittagong but his mother has white skin and hazel/grey eyes. Also had dark brown hair naturally. My mother is half Pakistani Punjabi and half Bangladeshi. Her grandfather is supposedly from Iran and they are Shia. But it’s not 100% sure. If anyone has any idea then please let me know

I done mine through Ancestry and I got my results and I couldn't understand any of it , it only said I had one relation related to me and he could be my son or nephew. No results of who my Dad is or any brothers or sisters.

Unfortunately, you can only find blood relatives if they are also using 23&Me. I've only found very very distant relatives. No one in my immediate or close to immediate family.

I’m thinking about getting a kit but was wondering you said something about siblings have you went through with trying to contact them and has anyone contacted you yet through the site? I was going to get the same kit but said: Check with your FSA/HSA administrator or your tax professional for confirmation on the specific requirements for individual eligibility and reimbursement, including usage, procedures and qualifications. So didn’t know if that process was easy or not just wondering. Thanks for your time and thanks for truly helping me make this decision I should of went to KZfaq along time ago lol… God Bless

i dont know if 23andme is y-dna test because if it is - it will only determine the maternal side of the family because girls only contain xx chromosomes, whereas boys have xy and can determine both paternal and maternal sides... maybe if you decide to get the test make sure it is not y-dna

It depends. Do you care about getting a health report? If you're only or mostly interested in your ancestry, then just go for the $99 package (but use my link for the discount!). If you'd like to have your DNA analyzed for medical date, then go with the more expensive one. Have a great day!

I find it super interesting (I think I said that 65x in this video LOL) and I found it to bee very accurate. I didn't mention it in the video but it gave me the regions in Colombia and Ecuador my family is from and it was spot on!

Peace family, you read 23andme wrong. The most % of DNA is new to your DNA Genetic markers and the less % of DNA Genetic markers is more ancient.

It’s clear we would be closer to the genetic makeup of our parents than our great great great grandparents. I think that’s obvious if that’s what you mean. Otherwise, I read my 23andMe report as it was presented, including the approximate dates of when DNA from certain places of the world was introduced. Thanks for watching. @@jessicayflores So the ancestory appearing in your DNA strand that is shorter, it reflects the genomes from long ago. Due to recombination overtime, the blocks of DNA are shorter and are represented by smaller percentages, which denote the appearance of your ancestry into the genome, longer ago.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand your comment perhaps because of autocorrect issues. What I can say is that all of the Americas have “Native Americans” but there are several ethnic tribes. For example - Quechua, Wayuu, Tupi, Nahua, etc. it’s important to remember that countries and their borders were inventions of colonizers so some of these indigenous groups span numerous territories.

Here is a good piece about the history of reparations in the US: www.history.com/news/reparations-slavery-native-americans-japanese-internment Think about how many "spoon fed" Native Americans you know. Now look up statistics regarding poverty rates, health disparities, average household income, access to potable water, death rate of children, etc. in those communities.
