The Asian side of İstanbul really is underrated. Life's a bit more chill there, less crowded, rent is much cheaper...people need to explore it more. After all the European side is just a ferry ride or a few metro stations away, so you get to enjoy the best of both worlds!

Very nice apartment and your cat is absolutely beautiful. I was wondering if you guys can do some videos to explain a few Turkish things such as, your first names. I noticed that in some of the Turkish series that I watch, your first names have actual meanings. It would be great to find out more about this. Also the use of red in weddings. Another is your funeral rites. Women who normally don’t wear anything on their heads seem to always wear scarves at a funeral. Also the shoes of the deceased being put outside, what is the symbolism here. The eating of halva after the funeral. At any rate, these are all very interesting traditions and it would be nice to know more about them. The other tradition is the circumcision ceremony for young boys. It would be great if you could do some videos on these different subjects. Thanks

Some names have religious or Arabic origins, like Mehmet (a shorter version of Muhammed), Abdullah (follower of Allah), Recep, Hamza, Hasan, Ali etc. Some Names have Persian origins; Polat, Ayda, Baha, Dilara, Yekta, Reyhan/Rihanna Some names are originated from natural phenomenon, like Rüzgar (wind), Deniz (Sea), Kuzey (North), Aslan (Lion), Rüya (dream), Derya (also Sea), Ceylan (deer), Seda (voice, sound of a person), Can (life, but the life of a living thing, like something you lose when you die, not life as in "lifespan" or life expectancy.) Some names are historically turkic or somewhat changed versions, like Cengiz (Tengiz, Gengish, like Gengish Khan), Kubilay, Tarkan (a cast of nobility in steppe Turkic/Mongolian), Kağan/Kaan (Ruler) like Gengish Khan) etc. Red in weddings, if you refer to red belts of the brides, it were traditionally to symbolize the virginity of the bride, nowadays it is just a tradition. Scarf at the funeral... Funerals, i think in all cultures, considered to be a somewhat religious tint in them, so when a funeral to be held, either in a mosque or in a house etc, it is custom to wear scarfs, it is more of a respect thing than a religious to be honest, like wearing black in USA movie funerals. When someone is passed, there is a special funeral prayer after deceased, called funeral prayer that is done on foot, behind an imam. In front of the imam, body in casket is placed and all the people pray and then they say they have no ill feelings for the deceased and if the deceased has an ill memory on them, it is all forgiven. Then funeral would be carried to a cemetery and buried. Eating sugary helva after deceased is to remember the sweet memories of the deceased instead of the bitter ones. That is also a saying in Turkish "let's eat sweet and talk sweet."

@neotiny2612
@neotiny2612 2 жыл бұрын
its not necessarily informal, its just turkish is flexible when it comes to language structure. so even if there is a standard order u can change the words places and it'll still be perfectly meaningful and logical (tho of course it has some limits) and n'apıyorsun is the same as ne yapıyorsun, just shorthened in this case, "sen napıyorsun burada?" combined with her tone, adds more of a surprised vibe, and also there is emphasis on you (sen)

How do you find a cheap nice apartment in Antalya? I went to some real estate agents I found on Sahibinden and one of them had a big gun in their apartment office and the other has bullets on their desk. I was traumatized and stayed in my hotel room for 3 weeks and I stopped looking for apartments when I couldn't find any real estate agent who said they have available apartments or who seemed trustworthy. I have been living in a hotel room since then that I pay monthly.

Merhaba hocam, lovely apartment. I will be looking for an apartment to live in Istanbul in the next months as well, and I would love to find something like yours, for similar price :) To be honest I remember that 2 years ago, I checked the rents, and it was possible to get something similar for 1.200, 1500. How the prices have changed. Any tips for a foreigner to negotiate? Are the contracts yearly, or is it possible to find for 6 months as well? Thanks a lots,
@omerozay7632
@omerozay7632 2 жыл бұрын
For last 2 years, Turkish currency is falling. Due to that and pandemic, everything has more than doubled in price. Normally, contracts are yearly but I believe you can find it for 6 months too. We have a website called Sahibinden. You could search for any kind of houses or apartments in there. Also, you can contact with the owner or estate agent for details. I hope it works for you.

What would be the daily cost of living in turkey I plan to visit Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and I'm planning to stay 2-3 weeks. One more thing I wanted to know are tourist are allowed to rent car for travelling between different cities? Teşekkür ederim

I would recommend you to use Arbnb and book it right now for Antalya, Izmir and Cappadocia otherwise you will struggle to find a vacant one. August and September are extremely crowded. Don't even bother to deal with local real estate agents for short term rentals. No problem with car rentals though.

You probably need more than three weeks if you're going to all those cities and plan on enjoying the sights and experience! Even İstanbul would take at least a week minimum to fully enjoy. The road time alone would take three or four days if you're travelling by car. Turkey's pretty big, it's larger than Ukraine even. :)
