My Copart Salvage Auction repaired Nissan Juke Nismo RS recently got a nice little upgrade. Courtesy of a Garrett 660 Turbo and some tuning from 2J Racing. This little 1.6 liter motor cranked out more than 425 HP at the front wheels!
The only problem now is getting it to go straight. The car is terrifying to drive because it is all over the place under power. The racing season is coming to an end. So I scramble to find a quick fix that may allow us to do some racing!

A lot of times torque steer is caused by the cv axles being unequal length. Each one is a essentially a torsion bar and if they’re different lengths, they’re different spring rates. So, one twists more easily then the other and causes the pulling

A cheap fix may be a much stiffer front anti roll bar (sway bars in your lingo) more expensive fix a Quaife torque sensing differential to help counteract what the OP describes. Coil-overs will help you tune up rake of the car. Could get expensive.

Not particularly on these, nismos and nismo rs's have always suffererd hugely from tourque steer, it's more the way the power is delivered in terms of powerbands

This kinda makes sense as the juke uses two very different length CV shafts. I do believe one is almost twice the length of the other.

@@ethanvalentine4299 You are dead right. Wife has standard Nismo and one drive shaft is twice the length of the other and it torque steers like a bastard.

Man I love what you did with it. Those 2J guys are awesome. I am so glad that I had a Juke Nismo during the pioneering days of that platform. It was scoffed at and overlooked for so long but it is such a fun and capable platform and I don't think anyone can argue with that anymore.

One of the first things I'd always suggest to anyone buying a nismo and nismo rs is to before anything else, is do suspension work, if anything get some H&R lowering springs, or coilovers, lowering them improve almost every aspect, handling mostly

I fixed my torque steer issue by putting a torsen type lsd in my grandprix GTP that put down 500whp, along with stiffer lowered suspension, upgraded traction arms and some steel spring blockers for the rear that bolted to the lower control arms and upper strut.

The juke nismo has really low gearing in it to make a stock one feel peppy, i wonder if a second gear launch would help gain traction off the line

Always used to run my cars with higher tyre pressures in the rear tyres helped to an extent between . 2 and. 4 bar higher than the fronts. In terms of the torque steer I sent my cars in to a specialist who weight either the left or right drive shaft to help with the pull. Didn't take me long to realise approx 4 broken CV joints that you can't hammer it off the line. Just need to get in motion and then make up the time.

You also are going to need individual scales for each wheel to find proper weight distribution all the way around

Did you find a fix for keeping the Juke steering straight?. I know you'll still get some torque steer. Only asking as I'm planning on going stage 2 and if it still handles badly I'll keep it at stage 1. Thanks.

Love the build man... Someone really needs to come out with some decent lower control arms to eliminate the crappy bushings that are causing most of your problems my juke did the same thing until I replaced them

I run 25mm spacers on my turbo spec v, helps out tons if you are getting torque steer.

If you want quarter mile times, put some wheele bars on it and set them about a half inch or less from the ground. Under hard acceleration they will plant the front end and keep from spinning so much. Alot of the Civic guys use this trick.

DUDE Keep Up The Juke Vid's There are people out there that have these cars and are turning them up... I'm at 250 WHP on the stock turbo and a CVT trans and I have issues to mostly keeping the car straight and not slipping the Belt.. But seriously even at 250 Wheel the car wants to pull me all over the place so I can only imagine. Dude you need Micky's on the front of that car a long with BC Coil Overs if you want to break into the 12's and 11's.. I have never drove a car that like to just sit still and spin wheels more than the Juke, except for the Old Mustang GT 5.0 Fox Body's they used to stand still spinning wheels too.. Through every gear but at least that was rear wheel and I could keep it straight....

Is their any way to stiffen the rear suspension watching the video it looked like just before darted left it lost support in the right rear and visa versa????

Yes, I think stiffer Coilovers in the rear will solve some of the issue. We will try that in the spring time.

my nismo rs juke is mostly stock and also wont go straight so this doesn't surprise me at all... glad to know i need to look into suspension.. the RS comes with LSD so i always just assumed it was a traction issue and the LSD compensating but not that the suspension was the culprit.

DOES That Boostane, Even work seriously?? Does it help make more power?? Or does it just help with Knock?? Because I tryed the Off Road octane Booster and I do have a Can of VP Racing Fuels Madditive Octanium Unleaded Octane Booster, That I haven't tried yet.. ?? But seriously does it actually make more power????

Thats very nice... I Would try BC coilovers, Sway bars, Is front and rear. Then a new set of rims and tires. And start there if I'm being honest with you without all wheel drive you're not gonna keep that car straight no matter what you do making that much power. I'm only making about 260 wheel torque and around the same horse power, I have a CVT n when I lock it in front wheel drive, I have the same problem when the boost hits, I have trouble keeping my car in a straight line from like 10 miles an hour to 60ish, Can't even imagine what you are going through.. It's so hard to keep my car straight but then when Put it in all wheel drive vectoring It takes off better but it leaves slower because there's more horsepower HP lose going through the transfer case to push all 4 wheels and really to much strain on my CVT so, I basically drive my car in front will drive, Even with the wheel spin and hop it's a second faster locked in front wheel drive than AWD.. But great job I'm surprised you don't already have wider rims and BC coil lovers making that much power..

I see at the end where you say you do have race wheels for it. But you need bc coil overs And even with them I think you're gonna have problems it's hard to keep those cars from just spinning the wheels, Once you get Near 300 horsepower, I can't imagine what you were going through.

I've done a 14.6 in my CVT 2011 Juke SL, I am on stock turbo/Full Bolt On's and a DYNO Tune to just about 250WHP and WT.. That's when everything goes right.. But I mostly do low 15's LOL....

I'm in the UK. I recently boosted my Nismo RS from 172 BHP at Wheels to 201...and the Torque from 221 to 296. This is on a stock engine and the only other mod I've done is a K&N performance intake. Other upgrades I'm planning are a Full Catback, Coilovers, Big Brake kit and potentially new wheels and tyres. I would however like to boost the turbo and have been looking at Garrett turbos and an Airtec Intercooler. Could someone give me some suggestions on what else I would need to get nearer 350 BHP? Everything I'm planning is purely based on researching videos like this one (I'm new to car mods)...but would really appreciate someone with more knowledge to assist me.

Those don’t look like wheels from rays, but wedsport wheels tc105x. I have the same wheels. Also I’m also local in MD and have a set of authentic center caps I can give you. Reply back if you want them and I can visit your warehouse to drop them off

why not put battery in the back you would gain over foot or more room also with FWD cars its better to upgrade all suspension parts from factory easier to stop body roll .. then do complete all adjustable coil overs will help can adjust the handling better also to keep body roll also if one side needs adjusting then the others ..great job on the videos you guys do

It really sucks Nissan didn't make a manual AWD of this. It would be lit and really capitalize on that shorter wheelbase, like the Juke R, which could initially out-launch a GTR, though it was overtaken shortly after. I have a CVT AWD Nismo. When I get a second vehicle, I wouldn't mind seeing if those 2J guys could push the CVT to 300HP. I'd probably only get 10K miles out of it, if that but whatever. You'd mostly be fine, if whatever you did was from a rolling start.

What your experiencing is torque steer. Companies (FORD, RENAULT, CITREON ) have spent millions trying to control that beast and they are only looking at 250-260 bhp. Good luck with your coilovers but don't invest to much chasing that dragon before more research.

I have a Juke and they are the worst Platform if you would call it that, For making power.. You can get them up over 400 HP but you will never get that power to the street they just stand still spinning wheels.. Or you get pulled off the road from the one wheel that catches.. They are actually scary to drive once you get them up over 350 HP.. And that in it's self is hard to do.. You usually have to change the fuel or add Meth Injection to it besides changing the stock turbo for a much bigger turbo.. But the worst thing about the Juke is the CVT AWD System and it's Front wheel drive sucks too. They just spinn away... And It can't really handle more than 240 WT. Even then you will slip your CVT.. And like we see with the front wheel drives and in this video.. They just spin wheels and stand still..

That's so true. I have also a Juke Nismo RS with a 6-speed gear and 230 bhp. Yeah it's an adrenaline car but I like that cute dangerous shit 😁

@@fvand4294 I have an AWD SL Tuned to 246 WT and about 248 WHP according to the DYNO's, That's the Limit of the CVT. When I nail it from a 20/30 roll its real hard to keep her straight. And Coil Over's do help keep the car straight but it don't stop you from spinning the wheels through 4Th gear the whole way down the track. Guy's have built 350 420 whp Jukes and none of them have figured out a way to get that power to a track yet. The fastest pass is on a 250 HP stock turbo Nismo at 13.6 I think.. He never done it again either.. He's always like 13.9ish to low 14's with the manual.. I think 300HP is the happy medium with these cars. Anymore power than that and they are scarry...

@@marcasswellbmd6922 so true and with 230 bhp is this for me enough for safe driving. I was thinking to make a stage 2 but I doubt 🤷‍♂️ I just want to live a little bit longer. My first and second gear are already spectacular. Before I had a Juke 1.6 CVT and that was really a disaster on wheels 😁. Greatings from Belgium

@@fvand4294 Yeah That's where I'm about at like a stage 1.5ish.. I'm at 17Lb's of Boost with full Bolt Ons from the turbo FR down pipe, 2J Catted AWD Mid, and a 2J Cat Back, FMI with the Stock turbo.. I can trick it to boost to about 19LB's, But it's not even needed. I am really close to breaking the CVT so I leave it at 17Lb's. And Yeah CVT's suck. But I have to say mine is still going I run AMsoil CVT fluid. And I do a drain and fill once a year in June Keeps it newish and sticky..

I knew this would fail.. These cars can't put more than 300 wheel down to the streets and go straight. And because they don't have a proper AWD system they never will.... It's a known fact.. Even my Juke which is at 240 wheel just spins the wheels while sitting in place locked in front wheel drive, soon as I put her into AWD vectoring, it leaves way better but then the power is divided to the rear wheels it kills the power through the transfer case.. There has been to shops on the east coast 1 up north and one down south but have pushed the motors to and over 400 Wheel but neither shop has ever shown a time slip better than high 12's to 13's no matter what coil overs they use and even with mickey's on the front, they don't want to move.. I was one of those fools who dumped 6k into my Juke thinking I could somehow get it to run with some of the big boys.. I did get it to kind of like (Stock WRX) level of power but that's it.. Anyway and finally we all see a year later how this went....

The Juke RS handles soooo good. They are fugly so they get overlooked, but they are silly capable. There are a few people working on doing an AWD mechanical change, as the CVT AWD whilst really good, cannot take the abuse, so needs a manual AWD ideally. I have an STI now, but the AWD RS handled so much better. Unfortunately, Juke Nismo and RS prices are about 33 to 50% higher right now than they actually should be :( Also, change all those darn engine mounts, they TRULY suck balls in stock form. EDIT: Did you make it slower than a stock RS by doubling the power? lol. Waiting to see what more you can get done.

You can always change the mounts to stiffer ones or add polyurethane engine mount pieces to slide into the spaces on the stock mounts to stiffen the car and the mounts.

@@original__gmebvy added a poly filled top mount to mine, made a difference 😎. Traded it for an STI as with almost 100k, it was getting risky on the CVT. (And that's with about 4 CVT trans fluid changes I did. 15k each change.

@@MllG0 One doesn't exist yet, although a project to do just that was bought out from a Juke group member, and is being worked on. Idea was using an awd manual trans from an overseas Nissan to transplant into the juke. Still waiting for the results. (it's a rally driver doing it, I cannot remember his name).

It's so sad Nissan Didn't give them a 6 speed Manual AWD system That we could beef up in some kind of way. Plus they use the worst one too The Jaco. Depending on Point of view.. Because you can slip a Jaco CVT and Not Kill it But 240 WT is where they start to slip.. And if you slip the one with the chain belt your usually done.. Like the one Toyota and Subaru usually can handle more torque up to 300ish which makes them a little better I guess.. But My God I will never buy another CVT car again.. I will drive this one till it's done.. I use mine as an A to B car and I only nail it once in a while, I never really push it hard. I would rather take it easy now and Hopefully get another 30K to 50K out of the car while saving my money..

Not a fan of the Koenigsegg ghost that should only be reserved for their cars made at the abandon Swedish Air Force base that they build and test at. That ghost is the symbol that those fighter pilots would paint on their planes and Christian uses it as an homage to them. He even said if they made cars anywhere else they will not have the ghost.

It's not funny it's very sad, but you can get a 275 WHP Juke down the track way faster than a 400WHP Juke.. It's way to much power.. It's sad really, You need a GTR type of Trans..

Please stop the dump edits. It ruins videos and all the content and work that's put into them. It is a gimmick sold to creators, along with spoilers at the beginning of videos and irritates viewers which will not translate into a win anytime soon.

Get those BC Coil Over's.. I think your still going to spin wheels the whole way down the track. The sin of the car isn't the Looks or The Bug Lights, or Power.. It's the fact that they don't come with a proper AWD System, I would pay $10K for some one to Convert my AWD CVT over to an AWD Manual that can handle up to 350/400 at the wheels.. The Juke R was Beautiful, they should have at least gave the car a proper AWD system..
