It really triggered a feeling of "what what what?!" When Josh said that. But I also think it is healthy to not consider yourself so important you know and go the other extreme. There's a balance obviously because no artist should devaluate the importace of the work, especially when you deliver consistently over and over meaningful and sincere material throughout the years (not thinking of anyone in particular here haha) (Josh Turner I meant Josh Turner) Also its nice seeing you in the comment section David, I really enjoy your videos.

1000x this. We don't need to equate our value as people and what we do creatively in terms of "usefulness". How about "meaningful"? How about "enjoyable"? There's doctors watching this video wishing they did something less "useful" and more meaningful.

500 videos, of which I've watched possibly 300 (?), and I don't recall ever seeing even a single instance of clickbait or cynicism. I love that you've stayed authentic, treated your audience with respect, and made art on your own terms. May you continue to inspire us all. P.S. Video 328 may have been the best, at least if we're ranking by number of vanishing bags. ;-)

I'm almost 80, a grandmother, and music has been a constant source of joy for me, both playing and listening to people like you. My son who is now 52, found you on KZfaq close years ago and immediately sent me the link to your work. We saw you in Middletown CT a few years ago and in hearing you in person was an epic experience. Your talent is unparalleled...well maybe Mozart or Debussy are up there too. Good Luck. You've brought such joy to so many.

I was 18 when I started eyeing your channel, I remember watching a video of you and Carson and thinking "Damn, these dudes are good, it's like watching Paul & John". Today I'm closing in my twenties, and for sure not a kid anymore. Been quite the journey, but somehow your channel always has been there, like a lighthouse in the distance, a constant and soothing light which doesn't change, which always provides. I'm really proud to have seen you, and the musicians orbiting arround your channel, grow and change. This channel deserves all the success. And as some mildly famous swedish band once said, thank you for the music.

Got a bit emotional watching this! I've been following along religiously since 2012 when I was just 11 years old, learning Swept Away by the Avett Brothers. So many of these video snippets trigger really strong memories for me, because each and every video you've posted has impacted my guitar playing, my music taste, and my desire to create music in some way. Watching this, I see my own growth in yours. I genuinely cannot understate the impact you've had on my life, Josh!

I found your channel 5 years ago, at the age of 15. The covers got me first, and then I listened to 'As good a place as any' and from that point it was obvious to me, that I'd like to have this musical being called Joshua Lee Turner in my everyday life. You taught me a lot of things, you showed me pieces of music I've never heard before, shaped my taste in music, surprised me with something unexpected, kept me excited through weeks while releasing 'Public life', introduced me to other amazing musicians like Carson or Allison, gave me ideas, what songs to play with my high school band, and so on... Some of your songs are so close to me, they are the only things I want to listen to when I feel sad. When I'm really sad, your music creates some kind of "home" feeling and gives me calmness. At other times it makes me enthusiastic to see you having fun with your friends and play music you love. Maybe your influence had a little role too, when I decided to study music and become a professional musician. It's good to hear that many things weren't clear for you at the beginning, because I'm still not sure, what I should choose exactly from the huge world of music... but until it turns out, thank you for giving us your music, see you in the real world!

Man, the hits of sudden emotion I got from seeing these tiny snippets of videos I have watched over the years, some of them again and again, some of them just once, over a decade ago, now again reminded of them. You've created something real special here, I must say, even when compared to all the other big music channels out there, this one stands out by being so humble, so unlike any cult of personality or ego trip. The focus is and has always been music, and I think everyone understands this instinctively when watching these videos. That being said, the way to integrate other fantastic musicians of such wide ranges into your work, or even let them have the spotlight and just sitting by playing base is amazing. So much passion for the art people got to enjoy because you shared these artists with us. I hope you continue to have fun doing this for a good while, because we certainly are.

I discovered one of your solo videos when you were a kid playing acoustic blues and it blew me away. With all of the millions of channels, yours is the only one I’ve ever subscribed to. I’m in awe of your multi-instrumental virtuosity and love the silly fun you have within the context of your serious musical obsession. And I always look forward to how the creativity of the video presentation is going play out. So you got me on two levels: the music and the video arts. (And I love the inner peek into the technical side of the sound recording, too. So, three levels). Yes, your joy in bringing your music resonates. And in these dark and strange times, it’s a silly, fun, serious, joyous, creative beacon of light that feeds the world. Keep at it! 🤙

Congratulations Josh, on the 500 videos milestone. As a 65yr old fan in London, I never cease to be amazed at your musical and technical ability. I don't think it is an exaggeration to say you are the most versatile musician I have ever seen - for playing in so many genres and on multiple instruments, whether your own material or covers. Please do not ever think that what you do is "not something useful, like a doctor or a teacher." There are plenty of those. What you do has entertained hundreds of thousands of viewers and listeners. That is important too. I enjoyed this recap of your 500 videos, with Carson, Larkin, Kami, Mary and Allison and many others. I have seen you live several times in London. My "reviews" of your shows on Fountain pen blog, still get many views per day! I look forward to seeing the Bygones here in London in September. Best wishes. Rupert Arzeian.

I can't remember when and I can't remember what specific cover brougth me here: i was looking for a song to play and I needed to see someone playing it. Then i thought "this guy is amazing" and years of gratitude came. I bought Unamericana without even listening, just for gratitude. Public Life helped me during a very tough time facing the loss of a dear friend. Both covers and originals have been a series of wonderful gifts. I keep spamming your channel to friends and such, they keep thanking me for that. I'm a very bad guitar player but your channel (and Carson's, Elle's and Toni's) gave me back the joy to play and sing whenever I can. I'm very grateful, thank you so much. I am 72 and one of my sons is a professional musician so I sort of know the difficulties and uncertainties that you face. But with your skill, talent and application I'm sure your career will go from strength to strength and this new KZfaq thingy is part of that. All the very best.

I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but you’re a huge inspiration to me. I haven’t been here since the very beginning, but Josh Turner Guitar has always been present in my life. From the early days of KZfaq, I remember coming across your videos as a wee lad and looking up to you. I deeply cherished the fun, carefree dynamic of the videos you had made with your friends - from the creative brilliance of your videos with Carson, to the lighthearted cover of Seven Bridges Road… and the historical masterpieces displaying your technical abilities through videos like your Sultans Of Swing cover. I’ve adored watching you grow as I’ve grown myself. Keep at it, Josh. Cheers!

Found you from the Operator cover. You guys play music my dad got me into and yet at the same time the music is timeless. 33 now. Still love this the way I did 15 years ago. We saw The Bygones in Chicago earlier this year. We’re coming to see you again in December. We love what you do. Love what your collaborators do. Side note. VW BEETLE! Man I’d love to see more of it. Thanks for all the beautiful music.

Been listening to your music for almost 10 years and love what you do. Great originals and fantastic covers. Awesome guitar work and all the excellent vocal harmonies. Thanks for introducing me to all your collaborations with, to name but a few, Reina and Toni, Jim, Gabe, Taylor, Alison and last but definitely not least, the man with the smoothest voice on the planet Carson. We're probably in days or weeks rather than hours I've spent listening to you guys....can't thank you enough. A real poignant notable occasion was about two years ago remaking contact with my mother (who passed last year) after a long absence and showing her your Sixteen Tons vid, something she listened to in her youth in the 1950's and seeing her face light up. Please keep doing what you do, looking forward to the next 500. Awesome stuff

Josh, Your channel has been a source of joy and inspiration for me over the past several years. Also-I’ve been enjoying the crap out of my D’Angelico Josh Turner Tammany guitar and spreading the word about how great an axe it is! Keep up the good work.

Josh, I don't know what number video it was, but a long time ago someone posted you doing Eleanor Rigby and instead of clicking past, I watched it and it seriously changed my life. I became obsessed with watching everything you had done and have until today watched all of them. I'm a 70-year-old guy with a wide-ranging taste in music and I can honestly say that you're one of the most talented musicians/collaborators I've ever come across - ever! Keep it up!

Very happy for your success, you make great music and videos to go with, and I hope to see you live some day at a folk fest in Canada before you are too famous. I think you are a combo of Rick Moranis' goofiness and looks with the glasses, James Taylor's voice, and Steve Jobs ingenuity... but of course you are truly unique.

I am so glad that you "found yourself in this place". Your talent and artistry brighten my days. I have watched "And Your Bird Can Sing" over 100 times! I am 70 years old so your music not only engages me today but also evokes wonderful memories of the artists of my youth. Thanks, Josh. Keep at it.

There a little 5 seconds in the video we need to talk about… No you are not a doctor, no you do not save lives, but you do save people… After doctors did their best but it did not work and somebody we love dies, you and other musicians take over helping us survive. It is a different role, but as important. Never underrate what you bring to this world. There a reason you are at your 500th video, you do serve a purpose…

You started my journey. Thank you. I gave you and Carson art i made when i was 15 or so in Dallas, Texas. I’m only 21 now, but i’ve been watching you since you were still in college. You changed my life. I am so proud to see you grow creatively, musically, and on your platform. Thank you.

Hi from London! Josh, we hugely appreciate the time, effort and artistry you inject into your music and your videos. It's the cherry on top to get to see you live, as I have done a couple of times here in the UK. You have an old soul but a youthful vigour and sense of exploration which is refreshing and rejuvenating for those of use at the other end of the (You)tube. I'm proud to be a Patreon of yours and would encourage others to follow suit in order to support your great work. Keep on trucking and see where the road takes you - and us. Thank you.
