That graph of overall confidence is universally accurate. Although, for me, after every song I make, or during the process, I get super hyped thinking I've made a great song, even on professional level standards, then listen to other tracks and fall into disgust over my songs' structure, melody, mixing(especially), drums etc. I know that it's a process, and no matter how many tutorials you follow accurately, you NEED experience to improve. I will persist, and eventually become satisfied, although any producers' goal is insatiable.
@ImNotActuallyChristian
@ImNotActuallyChristian 5 жыл бұрын
I have a similar experience, although my mixing is okay, as I continuously compare my track to professional songs to kinda "copy" the feel or whatever. It’s more that I feel like I’m producing a really good track with great potential, then I take a little break from it and when I come back it doesn’t sound that good anymore. I never manage to finish any of my projects because of this anymore.
@ale9507
@ale9507 5 жыл бұрын
@@ImNotActuallyChristian Damn. Although I do face this issue, to compensate for it, I, well to be honest I'm lying because this is the first time I've ever done it, reference tracks I enjoy. The biggest difficulty is trying to listen to your own track from the perspective of a brand new listener. It's really fucking difficult. Fortunately, I've always been able to develop all my tracks to the very end without problem. Only advice I can offer is: carry on. Persist and you will be pleased. Good luck

@@ImNotActuallyChristian Please do, and send it through if you'd like feedback. One thing I forgot to mention, is that my most productive times were from about 10pm to 4am. I would sit up all night, consistently, and do as much as I could with the track before doubting myself. Also, whatever you start, you should finish in one sitting.
@ImNotActuallyChristian
@ImNotActuallyChristian 5 жыл бұрын
Peek That last tip is it I think. I usually get stuck up in one detail for hours, and I end up using multiple days before even finish arranging the track. Maybe I should try and get the basics done first and then do the details and perfect it later.

Everyone in the comments is hating on EDM. I don't understand why, just because it may not be as popular as it used to be, you can't deny you're really talented with all of the technical aspects of producing. Personally I just recently started getting into it, and I know it's really challenging to make and takes hours fine tuning all of the little details that nobody ever seems to fully appreciate.

This guy... says everyone is hating on an ENTIRE GENRE of music... He’s made progress, there is no doubt, but when it comes to everything sounding like big-room-bubblegum-panty-droppers... I mean.. mission accomplished I guess. The technical progress is there. The unique sound is completely lost compared to the countless other panty-drop tracks in the over hyped commercialized electronic dance music. It’s not hypnotic what so ever, and sounds like a drop is around the corner every 16 bars.. because it is. It’s not the type of intimate, hypnotic techno I tend to gravitate towards (Klock, DaxJ, Benjamin Damage, etc). If massive anthem is what he’s going for, he nailed it. In my opinion, albeit a subjective one at best, is that panty-drop tracks are popular amongst the EDM illiterate. You can solo 3/4 of each tracks channels and hear the painfully similar sounds across hundreds of other tracks/producers. SNL did a skit on the bass drop... that skit is this style of EDM to me. Nothing wrong with that, just not my cup of tea, and I was raving back in the late 90s, I’ve see countless transitions in the community from acid to tech house, garage to skrillex, happy hardcore to terrorcore, and so on. These types of tracks , rather the transition to its popularity is by far my least favorite.

This video shows us that even if it takes years, even if it's hard to be satisfied of the songs we made, we don't have to give up ! At the beginning of 2017 I wanted to give up, I felt like my music was just shit and that I could never have a good level at producing music but Music is my passion so there was that kind of strength inside of me that pushed me to make efforts, watching tutorial, practicing, experiment, ask for advices, analyse tracks... And today I'm kinda happy of what I can make ! But we always improve ! We always learn new things everyday ! Great Video Memphy ;D

Don't those go hand in hand tho? You can have a good track but if mixing ain't good your track gonna stink. Almost anybody can arrange a good track given some time, but getting levels right and making it sound good and clean is the real challenge and goal

ILL Fortune I agree... his sound was more unique at the beginning. Besides the one with the out of tune bass line, I could see it going somewhere. After that it became very cliche and forgettable sounding, imho. Sounds like trying to chase a moving target. Can’t work like that. No Doubt for example was a small band struggling for 10 or more years before they started getting some national attention in the late 90s. But for someone to copy them when they became popular wouldn’t work (unless it was a major label opus it some similar stuff out quick). Just like Skrillex... he’d been doing his thing for years! To copy his style when he had those first hits was kinda too late.

I don't care what other people say, the difference in your old songs a new ones are easy to see, and that's coming from someone who's never heard of you before today so I have no biases. Your production and mixing sound so much smoother and more satisfying, each element you add in a song has a purpose and makes an impact, whereas before it seemed like you were more so trying to copy or recreate the style of music others were using. Also your newer songs seem much less repetitive and have a lot more elements added in to keep things interesting and flowing, rather than just reusing parts to increase the length of the song. You've definitely made a lot of progress, and should be proud of yourself!
