This is in fact the original accent, given that here we are talking about original Italian names. If they were English names, it would be different. The ideal would always be to pronounce terms, names of certain brands, regardless of which country, in an original way and not pretend, as unfortunately often happens, as if they were terms of one's own language. among other things, today it is enough to open a translator on a smartphone and hear the pronunciation of certain words by a native speaker. among other things, today it is enough to open a translator on a smartphone and hear the pronunciation of certain words by a native speaker. The "excuse" today of saying "but I don't know how to pronounce it" (something you often hear even from KZfaqrs here on KZfaq) is no longer valid. All it takes is one click.

Very well done. "Countàch" is piedmontese and means something like "Blast! No way!!". It is pronounced with stress on the a and ends like "detach". On a side note, most Lancias in the 60s trough the 80s were produced in Chivasso (TO).

Correct. Countach - "Contagion" - 'Koon-Tatch" would be the correct way, but nobody says that

85 is nothing. It's the whole Mediterranean lifestyle that gives them the extended lifespan. There's a village or town in Southern Italy where many of the residents are in their 90s or are centenarians - they have undergone a fair few studies as to how they did it.

My dad was a modern languages teacher speaking French, Italian and Spanish like a native. He was a massive stickler for the properly accented pronunciation. He said learning a Romance language was easy if you just put on the accent. He also used to take great pleasure in explaining what Italian footballers names were in English, such as Allesandro Altobelli was Tall and beautiful Alexander

Ciao Giacomo!! 😀 I have been a follower of your channel for quite a while now (with another account, BTW). I didn't know of your Italian origins, but I can tell you that you are one of the few Britons who can pronounce Italian names correctly and now I can see why!! Your channel is fantastic and your reviews are amazing!! My favourite is that of the Alfa Romeo 155 Q4, one of my favourite cars since I was a child! I still own her direct relative, the Fiat Tempra, and I love basically all the models based on the Tipo 3 platform! However, your videos entertain me every day and I am so glad to see your appreciation for Italian models, especially some that are getting forgotten as time goes by!! I waited for the bus from Rho Fiera to Arese in my Alfa t shirt and the bus driver asked if I wanted to go to the museum. All the way there he was teaching me some pronunciations . I lie how the italians try and teach you and love it when you have a go. Very different to the experience I get with the french who just roll their eyes at you when you try and speak their language.

Lighting from Alfa Romeo? Don’t know what era you’re talking about, but for quite a while lights were manufactured by Carello on multiple Italian brands. So you would see Carello on an Alfa but also a Ferrari of the same vintage.

This was wonderful Jack. So nice to know you still have your Dad & we got to see & hear him. My Dad died Dec.2nd, 1984 & when I was growing up, I was as likely to hear German, Gaelic, Greek and/or Italian as I was English & It breaks my heart to know all the Old World people are gone. I'd like to add though, I love running into my friend Tony's parents because they're Greek & always speak to each other in their native tongue & in Old World fashion, she'll say something, which in turn he says to me. Tony's parents are in their late 70's but to see them, you'd think they were time travelers from the 1940's. Great people.
