I'm a brazilian video editor so sorry for my english if i make a mistake, it's been some years i worked throught two studios for comercials and such, it's not a great environment to enjoy working, stressed people everywhere, agencies are asking for shorter and shorter deadlines for smaller prices, director is doing free jobs and expect you to do constant overtime to deliver them, there's no coworkers that are like minded or know what you are doing cause its always a skeleton team working on huge projects, there's no space to creativity, just teamplates everywhere and copy paste since agencies are afraid of innovating, theres 0 time to think and plan and of course money is always a issue that's why i cant simply leave to other places. It's very difficult to keep a positive view of it or feel pleasure. Nowdays is just deliver and deliver.

This video just came the right time..I have started making KZfaq videos 2015 as a kid in school and since then i have been in love with the process and everything about it..I remember how excited i used to be trying new cameras and making new videos with it..I kept on getting better and better my editing got really good and everything was perfect..Years later actually almost 10 years later now..I have become really professional and even work in big TV shows and films..But the excitement for making youtube videos is dead..i no longer have any motivation to even make a single simple youtube video..When i make one video i feel like am forcing myself to make it..I am hating the process more than ever...Sometimes i think the reason is because i learnt and mastered everything there is to learn in this creative journey that i no longer feel excited about it anymore..I think i fell in love with the learning process rather than making a video..what i mean is i fell in love in "learning making good videos" rather than "making the videos" To be honest this makes me really sad and that something i once enjoyed..doesnt make me excited anymore...I still have great passion for making films and telling stories...I enjoy directing and Cinematography outside youtube..But when it comes to uploading it on youtube..the excitement is not there at all...I do not know how to get my motivation back..and it is really sad..

Thanks for sharing you story. I can relate to this. May I ask, why do you feel the need of uploading to KZfaq if you don't like it?

@@Andyax because youtube was part of my childhood and I have been doing it since...I really do not want to stop it..Apart of me doesnt want to stop making videos but the othe part of me tells "You gonna go back to uploading when the time right again..So chill for now..you dont have motivation..take a break..." But this break is becoming too long and it doesnt add any value to me as person..So I DO NOT WANT TO STOP..But i want to be creative again and start enjoying it as i did before..I want to feel that excitment again..I wanna fall in love with it once again..I SERIOUSLY DO NOT WANT TO ABANDON MY KZfaq...But i just dont know when that motivation will come back

I discovered this video with a little delay but what a video! As I mentioned a few years ago, this is a family you've built around shared passions. This is what we intrinsically desire in our lives in order to give them true meaning. Creation is at the heart of our joys, located precisely in that zone of development you mentioned. Yes, sometimes this 'family' is lacking around us, so it may be on youtube that we find it. Through a channel like yours ;) It's already been a few years since I launched my filmaker business, encouraged by the hive mind that emanates from your group. You are a serene and stable point of reference. This goes beyond the framework of the professional world, and has done so since the time of Eskild and Thomas. This video of introspection is a little nugget. Please, say hello to the team.

Man, Anders, this is a beautiful video. Not only so REAL but I can relate with everything you're saying. I wish I could network and work with other people but I do everything alone because I'm way too anxious in society. You know how many times I've just WISHED I could work at VJUS because of how inspiring you guys are! But, you know, the reality is that leaving a comment on your video and following along all these years, wont get me there 😅 So instead, I need to relate, learn and grow from the amazing and wholesome videos you make! Please always keep making them ❤

Jeez, what a great video. Hit a few notes with me. I lost my mother around eight years ago and found that I lost my one person that gave me that fall back, that safety net for scary things in life… believe it or not, I’m 43 next month, and I still miss that feeling. Anyway, I’m only half way through the video so I’ll continue before I cry haha! Thanks for this, Anders! 👍😅

A nice description of the development stage and keeping your own pace, a good reminder for us. Working with clients can be intimidating sometimes but they value our experience to create a professional project in the end. I enjoy the process and getting good feedback from our work.😎

This was wonderful. I appreciate you sharing and being vulnerable. I like that you showed the fakeness of the set, not only as a bit of a set design proudness but it seemed relevant to the topic of viewers comparing their lives to what they see on screens. It seems you would be an amazing person to ever collab with. I'm a VFX guy from boston and I'm raising my hand ✋🏻

Did I just get a mention at 11:13? Haha. :o) Seriously though, thank you for this video. Its something I probably needed reminding of, and something every creative person should watch and listen to. You manage to balance talent and success with humility and compassion... which is rare these days, and this channel is relatable because of you! You should be very proud of everything you've done and how you've done it. Thank you.

Superbly valuable thoughts! And I think one big revelation is that filmmaking is not for everyone. Being a bit more specific, every variation of media creation is not for everyone. You don't have to like the preproduction side of things. You don't have to like using cameras (and KZfaq is notorious for emphasising cameras as the most important tool). Maybe you like making documentaries instead of fictional films? Ads, essays, podcasts, live productions, SFX, VFX - the list is endless. If you have a technical mind you can still be a part of a production helping out in the background. If you're starting out, don't try to force yourself into one mould unless you feel absolutely certain about it. You can try all the different facets of creative work out as a hobby and if none of it inspires you, choose a different career path. The media field is quite saturated and competitive. The working hours might not be the best for your work / life balance. Usually the less creative you need to be in your job, e.g. corporate in-house production, the more balance you will have.

That's some very good points, thanks for sharing. In the first draft of this video, I included a part about this. And you are kind of lucky if you love making videos that the clients wants. It's not for everyone, and some might enjoy filmmaking a lot more when doing it as a hobby instead of work.
