In this video, I show and discuss my Analogue Productions record collection. I give my honest opinion about each record from artists/bands such as The Beach Boys, The Doors, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, The Royal Ballet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, Elvis, Norah Jones, Eddie Money, Ted Nugent, and more.

Lol, what was I listening too (as if you knew the LP I was spinning lol) but anywho, I flipped on both tubes (pre and amp) and the TT "TurnTable" 30 mins after warm-up I put a record on and it was only after 20 mins and half way through the last song that I realized the whole works was out of whack. What the hell is wrong with my TT? Like the dummy I am (not really) I too forgot to hit that good old 45 button. Ahhhhh much, much, much better now that's music to my ears, no pun intended.

Great reviews. I have 100s of LPs from the 70's-90's, but haven't really listened to them in years. The Mo-Fi story and the vid you did caught my eye. Also got me ready to rebirth the old stereo. I also recently inherited my Dad's jazz (etc) collection from the 60's. Hundreds more that haven't seen a turntable in ~40 years! It is nice to hear someone like you that is obviously passionate about records, music and listening.

Thanks for the great video, Melinda! I second mlblue535’s recommendation -- Scheherazade is stunning, a fantastic listen for both dedicated classical music fans and those just looking for an album of beautiful music. Both the 33 and 45 versions are superb. Another unexpected delight worth seeking out is the 45 version of Dusty Springfield’s “Dusty in Memphis.” Seems like an unlikely album for the AP treatment, but this version completely changed the way I heard “Son of A Preacher Man."

PET SOUNDS and all THE DOORS LPs were issued in the old DVD-Audio format (including 5.1 mixes) and sounded great, so the masters were in fine shape then and there would be zero excuse for the vinyl not to sound as great, so you have confirmed it did and all the hard work then and additionally for the vinyl really paid off to save and preserve that catalog. Same for DAVE BRUBECK and I have that album on Super Audio CD sounding great. You can get high resolution improvements in all kinds of music and soundtracks, esp. as things pick up in the later 1950s. Thanks for another thorough, excellent video. I had to build up to jazz and blues. I came to blues from blues rock, but if that's not your thing you can come at it through R&B or soul. A lot of the artists cross over between the different styles, at least the good ones do. It's more improvisational, so it lacks the complexity of other forms but better describes a moment.

Great selection, you've definitely got a lot of the must haves from AP. I can't even remember how long I've been doing business with Acoustic Sounds - 25+ years I'd guess - in fact I've got a huge order that should be arriving on Thursday! Great company that really cares about giving people value added products. Pet Sounds in 45 isn't as bad as others may seem in terms of shortness, considering the singles format of the time. Agree on Elvis 24 Karat Hits, one of _the best recordings and performances_ - Golden Records a distant second. One more I'd throw out there is Getz & Gilberto. Maybe because I have my dad's original pressing, I've listened to it my entire life. The 45 is absolutely a top 10 60's jazz recording I'd put up there with Time Out.

I've only gotten one Analog Productions LP at this point having only jump back into the record collecting passion about a year and a half ago. But I've been looking at quite a few of their LPs including one they did of an Eddie Money LP. My mom was a huge, in the largest degree, Elvis fan. Growing up I remember all the Elvis LPS she had stored in the console that had a record player built in. I guess it was some of that 1960s type of furniture. My mom passed away in March of 2021 and just 2 weeks ago my sister brought up all of my mom's Elvis LPs for me. I did not realize she had so many. A lot of them go back to when my mom was very young too. There are at least 60 to 75 Elvis records, and they look like they're in great condition, maybe even mint, with the exception of two or three that the glue on the cardboard record cover started separating from. But those LPs still look glossy and flawless from my blind perspective. I'll be entering them on my discog collection as I go through and catalog them. I'm not selling any of them but I'm just organizing them and learning more about the music she loved so much. It's kind of funny because my mom heard Freddie Mercury for the first time on her birthday the year he died, November 24th, 1991 I believe, and she fell in love with Queen / Freddie Mercury music. I always liked the songs I heard on the radio from Queen but until my mom started buying recordings, CDs, and even tapes from a guy over in England, not even realizing that many of them were bootlegs, I never really had paid a lot of attention to Queen's music. I was able to convince her not to spend any more money and let me find the rare stuff for her since I was into doing that already anyway. But doing so, especially in the earlier years of Queen's music, really opened me up to some stuff I just had not explored yet. And I liked it too! It's going to be bittersweet going through my mom's collection and cataloging it. It'll definitely be bringing back some memories as it already has. But I'm looking forward to it at the same time and I'm going to be taking great care of what she enjoyed so much from the time before I was even born. I was a 1967 baby and from what little research I've done on a few of the Elvis LPs, I can tell they were made and she had gotten them before I was ever thought of :-) I'd love to get some Analog Productions Elvis material like you were showing in the video. I may look into that as well. As usual, I enjoyed the video and thanks for the great AP collection video and ideas! (Brian aka Bootradr)

Hi Melinda, I've never owned an AP LP. So this was a good educational video for me. Once again, I learned a lot. Pet Sounds would be on my list if I were to purchase AP. Somehow the Beach Boys are not in my collection and I need that one for sure. Also the Dave Brubeck would be sweet. I'll keep an eye out. And Elvis! Since i used to be in the Rock n Roll Merch. Business, as a buyer for one of the biggest Merch companies of the 90s, I'm always interested in your T shirts. We never had The Doors as a client as they were always signed to Winterland for their Merch. Maybe a future video featuring your TShirt collection? I for one, would be totally into that! Hope you have a nice weekend. Mark in MI.

I think that would be neat to hear about the nuances you hear, what you liked about each, and which you'd choose if you could only have one. Hey there. It is fun to get a glimpse into your style and interests. I purchased Brothers in Arms and Thriller from MoFi recently, but nothing yet from AP. Waiting to compare Thriller to other pressings to determine if my ears are up to the challenge. If it is worth it, I'm happy to buy (my favs) on premium format. Anyway, keep the hits coming, sister. Great Video Melinda. It’s unfortunately geared to vinyl buyers that are well off financially. Here in Canada Analogue Productions are a no go because quite simply they are $100-125+ per album plus taxes. I’m not in a tax bracket that could justify the expense when a good OG will keep me happy at a fraction of the price. I’ve only ever bought 1 Analogue Productions album and after sure it sounded great but the price left me feeling guilty for days after. Maybe if I was rich I’d buy more but life costs a lot of money these days and premium vinyl is truly for those with money to burn. Best regards.

Cheers Melinda, Don't think I was more than 5 seconds in you video when I just smashed the like button when I saw your The Doors shirt. You are on an absolute roll with this video. I can't think of many vinyl record subjects that are more interesting than AP/QRP. Their commitment to all analogues recordings is so heart warming. Other than the Norah Jones album, all of the records you showed are keepers in my book. I have many of them but not all of them. I was in hog heaven when you went through every single The Doors 45 rpm album. I have my three favorites so far, and I'm working toward acquiring the remaining three albums. I have the debut, Morrison Hotel, and LA Woman. The first album by them is my favorite. I have an original Monarch version of the debut album, and the AP/QRP 45 rpm is close to it. Doug Sax did a wonderful job on it, and I really appreciate the fact that tube electronics were used. Of the three, I think the sound quality on Morrison Hotel is the best. LA Woman is great too. I really look forward to hearing Strange Days, Waiting for the Sun, and The Soft Parade in the future. I didn't know that Waiting for the Sun is your favorite; I have a really nice original pressing of that album. I have so many AP/QRP pressings that I won't single out a favorite; they're typically great. You may be more interested in what AP/QRP vinyl release doesn't live up to the original issue. As I may have told you already, I have the true first UK pressing of Black Sabbath's Paranoid album on the Vertigo swirl label. I also have the deluxe version of the AP/QRP 33 1/3 rpm version of the same album. No exaggeration, the first UK pressing of Paranoid just blows me away. The AP/QRP version sounds really good, but doesn't even come close to the first UK pressing. Still, the AP/QRP version is definitely worth getting, especially if you don't want to fork over the big money for the first UK pressing. My only constructive criticism I have for you on your review of AP/QRP releases is that you didn't touch on their Direct-to-Disc (D2D) recordings. If you had one of those in your collection, you would very likely have a much different opinion about what the best sounding record in your collection is. All in all, I really enjoyed this video and thank you for taking the time to put it together! 👍👍👍👍👍

@@jackwezesa1081 Thank you for the heads up, Jack. You are right. I have the 1967 earliest Monarch pressing of The Doors' debut album. It is not the first press. All I can say is that it's the best version of this record I've ever heard. I have NM original issues of the other Doors records from eastern U.S. pressing plants. They sound really good too. @@audiophileman7047 I can relate to what you are stating. Have you ever heard "The Mexicali Singers - The Mexicali Singers Ride Again"? I found a Mono Promo copy and did not know them at all. It is now one of my favorite background LPs. I hunted down a stereo copy and found them both to be great sounding copies.

Hi Melissa, I would definitely try and ask for a replacement from Amazon for the Rolling Stones set. It happened to me with a Bob Dylan box set, that they had replaced 3 times, but kept shipping it poorly packed, and the first one was in the best shape of them all, so eventually I gave up. But it's worth a try. I love that Chris Isaak album. I got mine from The In Groove a few days ago as well. Bummer about that unauthorized single, I sure home the store owner was clueless and made a mistake. Thanks again, take care!

The Chris Isaak album is definitely a highlight of the records I have bought recently. So good. I fear they will just keep sending my box set without protecting it. So frustrating. 😕 Thank you and take care.

I’ve been super impressed by Acoustic Sounds. I’ve had The Wonderful Sound of Female Vocals, Patsy Cline, and Nina Simone for a while and they’re all awesome. I’m partial to that sort of sound, though :) Thanks again for the recommendations. I buy one or three new ones a month, not counting marches and European nationalist/cultural type music from the flea markets in Albuquerque.

When buying records from Analog Productions, great quality and sound is a given. It's just a matter of finding music you enjoy. That's definitely a great reason to love Analog Productions. Thank you and enjoy your day.

After watching your video, I went ahead and ordered the Ted Nugent ''Ted Nugent" 45 RPM LPs. All I can say is WOW!!! I had seen this one on Acoustic Sounds' site but had no idea it was going to sound as good as it does. Your video really helped me pull the trigger finally and get it. So thank you! I've mentioned before that I am legally blind. So I'm going to ask this here instead of trying to find the video again where you talk about the most asked question you get haha. What is the brand name again of the qualitycovers you buy? I need to get some that will fit these type of LPs and I'm really impressed with how nice they look on the albums you show. I also bought the 45 RPM 2 LP Fleetwood Mac Rumors. It took me about an hour to finally get one of the regular record cover sleeves on that LP set. And then it split along the seams. I need to get some of those great covers for these specific types of releases as well as some of the types for the box sets. So I hope you see this and can help me out with the name of the company you use. I had looked them up earlier when I saw your 10 Most Asked Questions I believe it was called video (at least I just remembered which video it was now). I definitely want to buy some more AP releases and I hope that they start putting out some more great ones, like the Ted Nugent one, again soon. I'm looking currently at LA Woman and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Second Helping LPs from AP. I am so impressed with the quality and the sound on the Ted Nugent LPs that I will undoubtedly be replacing a few LPs I already have as well as getting some more that I haven't had from the AP lineup. Not that I have them on AP pressings already but I'd rather spend the extra money and get the better deal I believe it is. Thank you for any help if you can just tell me the company name for the covers/protective sleeves. And if there is a model number or any more detail I might need in getting the right ones for the larger AP types of covers, I'd appreciate any additional information as well. Thanks again...

I'm glad you picked up the Ted Nugent album. It does sound fantastic. LA Woman is another amazing sounding record. You can't go wrong with Second Helping either. My outer sleeves are from Vinyl Storage Solutions. I highly recommend the 4 mil thick dual pocket sleeves with tuckable flaps. That's what I use and I love them. Thank you and take care.

@@MelindaMurphy Thank you so much for that information Melinda! And that's what I'm going to go with. I've been watching so many of your videos that I never could find the one that you were describing the covers in because you have so much great information and I forgot haha. I'm writing it down now so I'll look them up and make some purchases from Vinyl Storage Solutions. I'll tell them you recommended them also. Thanks again! Brian in Fort Worth.
