They are making me a replacement barrel currently. Im sending them the bad barrel so they can see what happened. They were very easy to deal with and responsive. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again

@@PursuitofAccuracy mine would shoot the Eley fine but when i was plinking with the Norma-Tac which supposedly runs over 1100 FPS i had a fail to eject and had to use the pocket knife assist manuver. I went back in and cleaned the barrel (carbon ring) and went back in with a ball hone and re-polished the chamber again then i noticed the bulge on the brass and it all made sense after that. Norma brass wheather .22 or centerfire has alwas been soft and once again i proved it. My chamber looked exactly like yours did. But i gota tell you it didn't effect accuracy at all. That's why I'd like to borescope that barrel for any defects. I look at alot of barrels and for my $$ i'll take a Cut Rifled barrel every time the twist rate is more consistant and more twists available Bartlein can cut any twist on their computer cut rifling machine with just a few key strokes and it imparts no stress to the steel like pushing or pulling a button does and the button has a tendency to skip/chatter down the barrel causing a washboard look to them. best button barrels out there are hands own Lilja and Benchmark and are beautifully hand lapped and polished. Dan Muller rates very high in the RF community as well as Bartlein and Krieger. I personally consider Douglas and Shilen hunting rifle quality and you'll not see them at F-Class events. Just my 2 cents and I pull and inst. around 100 barrels per year.

No case buldging but i could see where gas was escaping around the cartridges

The ejector / extractor would contact that part but they are beveled and can move out so barrel must have been really really soft there

I swapped the IBI onto the b14r. I wanted to test it and use it for the extra weight it had over the bergara barrel. Will be running the b14r barrel again until the ibi replacement comes

There are easy fixes for the stiff bolt. A guy shouldn't have to do them on a new rifle though. Bergara should go in there and make some changes. My Anschutz 54 is pretty stiff as well as my Walther UIT but they aren't repeaters and I expect that with a single shot zero head space Match Rifle and men were tougher back in 1966 when mine were made. It's never going to be butter smooth by design "It's a training rifle and supposed to have the look and feel of a 700 short action" which it does. it's for the off season so you can pull your big boy centerfire rifle action out of your PRS stock and put in the Bergara and use your same stock and trigger and scope and shoot a cheaper ammo and stay in practice and it basically has the same poundage spring and feel as the 700. it's just a shorter spring and makes it a tad stiffer and it also has 2 locking lugs and same basic bolt design and same action foot print and recoil lug system as the 700 the head spacing is set pretty tight from the factory. mine rubbed on a go gauge when i set up my new barrel i backed it off some and it made a noticable difference in bolt feel. I lapped the lugs and polished the cocking piece and the cocking piece notch and polished some other things and lightened the spring. I did the same things I would do to any out of the box 700 I would build for a customer and I also do these things to custom BAT or Defiance or Borden actions. It's a totally different design than a CZ and it will never feel like one and it wasn't designed to.

New production Bergara's seem to be a lot smoother. At least the latest ones my shop has gotten. If the CZ was a Rem 700 based action, it would be perfect

I think it was a one off thing where my extractor reliefs were cut to close to the chamber.

@@PursuitofAccuracyIf simply chambering rounds has done that then maybe it isn’t hardened properly, happens more than you think in steel. re replacement, I wouldn’t have thought anything less from IBI, they have a good name for customer service.

Im not sure. I think mine failed very early on and never shot great. Will have a replacement soon and test it

I was on the fence about getting a barrel spun up for this rifle once the ibi failed but i think im gonna try another ibi and see what shakes out

Bergara has a Match Chamber, Chamber a round and then extract it and you will notice the grooves are imprinted on the bullet also part of the reason the bolt close is hard the bullet is being forced into the lans and grooves. there are at least 15. different match chambers out there and some of us have reamers made to our own design and i'll bet the IBI has a match chamber as well. Eley, Lapua, Manson, PTG, Anschutz, Winchester 52, Walther, Bergara, CZ etc. etc etc. all have a version of a match chamber and none of them should have hyper velocity ammo fired in them. I have a Hugh Henricksen reamer that i had him make me that has no stop/flange on it and it allows me to chamber as deep or shallow as i want so i can get more or less imprint on the bullet with just 1. reamer. My Manson match chamber reamer imprints the bullet so much that once the cartridge is chambered it can not be removed without being fired first so "match" chamber is a broad spectrum.

@@markthegunplumber8376 I would agree with you. However both of my 52s feel like they have a better chamber. I would want a copy of them. My main point of asking the question was to decide if I want to replace the carbon barrel. In my B14 i have a TT trigger, manners stock, ats tuner and 32x NF optic shooting Lapua ammo. And it will not compete with my old 1940 52 with unertle. B14 = best yet 245-7x. 52 = consistent 248/249 -10/14x

The extractor relief cut was machined to thin or got to hot and made it weak enough for the extractor to damage it.

Why would it do it to one side and not the other? Bolt close was noticeably easier than with the factory barrel as well. The headspace was also set per their instructions.

@@ezrabrook3993 not sure. The reliefs are way bigger on the ibi vs the fsctory barrel and there was no contact on the fsctory barrel.

They have benefits and drawbacks, up to you to decide on whether its worth it or not

@@PursuitofAccuracy I would think this flaw would be something noticed during inspection of your new barrel, before installation. Check the replacement very good, saves on these kind of headaches.

Unkikely to be changing a bergarra barrel in UK after being ripped off for the rifle. Then unlike;y the IBI or any barrel available. Anything means overpriced, a long wait and not worth it. Any problems and there will be no useful help - blame the idiot customer for buying it is general policy.

@@rikoshea765 it was a coincidence. Ive shot that rifle and never had consistent poi in my groups. Its had two seperate cronus on it and shot out of a stock and chassis and it just seems to print high then low then high etc
