Quick question, I am looking to purchase a NAS for my single-user SOHO, but then I saw the DAS--direct attached storage. What are the differences between the two? Thanks for the advice!

The DAS is a storage that can be attached to your device directly (laptop or dekstop). But the NAS is attached on the network and can be accessed by any device. So depending on your needs, I think NAS is better because you can link it to your phone(s) and computer(s) at the same time for file sharing.

Imagine there's a power failure or natural force disease Where you not able to access your resources. Or let say your NAS has been vandalized you won't have access to it anymore. For me I think storing your data on cloud, either AZURE OR AWS is the greatest advantage that won't let you down. There's region availability that guarantees 99.9%of uptime

Cloud is good and "guaranteed" but Cloud is VERY expensive. For example, 36TB on Amazon S3 will cost me around $828/month or $9,936/year... Even the cheapest cloud backup providers like Wasabi will cost me at least $180/month... So... I have a local backup on the QNAP and I am looking into having a remote encrypted backup on a friend's NAS... I will make a video about backups. Thanks @Giresse, Guy.

You can have your most important data and finished projects backed up from time to time and stored elsewhere. NAS is a must for high speed backup and video editing
