If you run a black sharpie around the exposed cardboard edges they’ll blend in a thousand times better
@brionl4741Ай бұрын
Doesn't always have to be black. Sharpies come in a ton of different colors.

Will do! Thanks for the tip dude! 🍻

Hot tip: You can make brick and cobblestone texture with wallpaper. You do need to bump into a roll with the right texture. But it can save a lot of time compared to creating individual stones.

There's something so charming about the old school way GW and hobbyists made terrain. I gotta get me some cardboard, toothpicks and foam balls

As a fellow bricklayer’s kid, I’ve had the same feeling while making terrain

Best visual design and audio in a hobby channel? Yes. The pastel tones, old school fonts and badass 80s computer game music just fit so perfectly together. Also the videos are great

The cobblestone board looks amazing, but there has got to be a multitude of more efficient ways of going at it 😅

Great idea with the recycled paint brush as brick stamp, very effective. I like your building with hand cut bricks, non uniform appearance adds its own realism. I'll have to try that plaster, sand, glue mix see how it compares to grout filler glue mix, it'll add variety to my builds.

The dad being a brickie line got a good chuckle out of me, cracking vid as always!

oh and the board is just amazing. I do think you should paint the white edges of the cardboard though to give it that little extra.

They do rollers for cobblestones and roads about the size of a bog roll if you ever do it again, you just slap your plaster down and roll into it. But cool as always :)

So jealous you managed to get that box, and wonder if it was the one I was following too, haha. Small suggestion: get a sharpie (or other moist marker) and "edge highlight" all the card. It'll make the edges stand out less than being able to see the white-core.
@huwtindall7096Ай бұрын
Smashed it
@user-zd6dz5bx5iАй бұрын
Use some wash or paint on the white paper edges. helps alot to done that down..

If you're gonna try making foam bricks again for a future mordheim/medieval build, then I'd like to suggest using foamboard, measure and cut long strips of it, then peel away the paper layer and cut to size and you need. This is much easier to control than just eyeballing things with the xps foam, especially for those of us without a hot wire cutter to hand.

Very cool. Like the mix of scratchbuilt and original terrain and the board texture turned out so well, though it must've driven you both mad. Good to hear Leif of Devs and Dice getting a shout out. He's one of the very best.

You may find the brick cutting easier with a knife sharp box cutter type knife. I find the longer knife length really helps

Two tips for future crafting. You can use a wire brush on all things made of wood to give them a nice used structure in no time. For the cobblestones you can use plaster and then a rolling pin (I got one from Greenstuffworld). Thanks for this very nice video. It's always fun creating terrain with cheap stuff and a lot of motivation.
@OldrumptyАй бұрын
I find terrain building waaaaaaaaay more relaxing - it's just so much more forgiving than mini painting. I honestly prefer the hand-cut brick look! Having access to a Proxxon definitely speeds things up, I just find that everything ends up looking too uniform and not as realistic. Was just surprised you were able to spray prime your XPS with a rattle can - just about every guide I've seen has warned about it melting the foam, unless you've sealed it first... feel like I've been lied to all this time 😩
@anvilofdoomminiaturesАй бұрын
Haha yeah it has its peaceful moments that’s for sure. Thanks mate! Yeah if you keep the can a bit further away it doesn’t melt it. Takes a few more coats though.

very lovely table. I can't help but wonder if there's a way to 3d print a "brick roller" or something that you could stick onto a paint roller handle and it has brick lines printed on it, so you just roll it accross the foam board instead of pressing the brick lines by hand. I do wonder if that exists, or how easy it would be to make if it doesn't yet exist.

Another incredible one! I have the card terrain and will be doing something very similar soon! Quick tip as well, take a sharpie and just run it along the outside edges of the card terrain to make them blend in a bit more rather than have light paper color sticking out

Congrats on being able to finally do one of these. I think the best part about Mordheim is everything should be janky (or have some jank to it). In addition to Devs and Dice I recommend Black Magic Craft, Erics Hobby Workshop and MS Terrain Lab for more inspiration and instruction (especially MS Terrain Lab)
