A busy few days, but top priority has been trying to treat this lamb with polio. After a day of some optimism, she's been going downhill ever since.
And, in my gut... I think I know how this will end.
BUT..
in the other barn, we are beginning the process once again of new life. We are pulling CIDRs and introducing the rams for what will be our next breeding session for June lambs!

it takes great compassion and courage to know when to continue and when not too, you do not give up, you give in to nature and the knowledge that you are doing the right thing for those in your care, I love respect and appreciate all you do for these animals xxx

I'm in England and when I was a kids I fed a few lambs as I lived in the country that had farms in the village I lived in. I never knew how hard it was to keep sheep and lamb. You work so hard to take care of then. I must say sheep and lambs are so cute and you can see that they have their own personalities. Your job seems so rewarding

So sad when you have a sick baby that's not improving 😢 you are so wonderful with your babies doing anything you can to save them. Why we all love watching your videos everyday. You have a sweet daughter who loves her Mom so much ❤.

Your persistence and determination with that sick lamb is admirable. You do your best at every opportunity and you keep trying. You can't save them all, but you do your best to give them a fighting chance.

She could just see that this animal was really ill and just put it down by the heart she knows that every living thing has a spirit end it and deserves a chance to remain in this world. It’s definitely not a monetary thing for her

Sandi: I think the amount of records you keep on each of your sheep is amazing. This effort on your part gives you the knowledge of what sheep you keep for your flock. Knowing how many lambs a ewe has had in your flock allows you to go back and find out if stillborn lambs may be a genetic or just a once happening. I know it takes a lot of time to do record keeping but boy is it important. Thanks for showing that. Stay safe and healthy '

Warm molasses water as a drench!! The molasses has good iron and energy. I give it to my does as soon as they kid and it snaps them out of a grog really well. Hope she improves! I feel you on this, I don't give up until the last breath when one is sick. It's so hard to know when enough is enough! Stay strong!

So sad about the lamb with polio, I didn't even know they got that, it makes me feel too sad for the lamb! 😢😢 I use that paste stuff on my sick cats, it has lots of vitamins and other good stuff they need. P. S. You have a beautiful daughter!

Sandi, it is so good to watch you work with your sheep. Anyone can see how much they mean to you, they are treated better than most sheep I have seen. The lamb will let you know when you have done your best. Try to keep your spirits up, you mean a lot to a lot of people. Blessings!

I’m not even a farm person, living in a city and haven’t been on a farm since I was a child, eons ago. Thank you for the data on the stillborn babies and the mamas. Just found this KZfaq channel last Tuesday, and I have now have binge watched the whole thing from the start. I really was wondering what would happen to the mama who lost her own babies, but fostered two others. I was so relieved to know that she had gotten a "pass"!

That poor Ewe...im glad you love your sheep to the point that you keep trying to save them. Not many people do. They only see them as $ and thats it. You see them as your babies, since you do see them from the beginning and they see you as a mom. Keep up the good work my dear!

That list of the ewes with still borns and their track record was SUPER INTRESTING! Even the one that had the worst number still had a good track record and the still borns were kinda questionable. I really hope your region can be cleared enough off the pandemic that they can test for the (sheep) virus next year

I think it is GR8 that you appear to have an appreciation for data. I once worked with a process engineer in a manufacturing environment who always said "Show Me The Data" and he never made an important decision without seeing and at least evaluating the data. Good processes lead to improvements.

Interesting about the losses and that there isn't a pattern with any of the Ewes. You make decisions as you go and cull when needed. It's always amazing that you can just say nope you are done and there is an X on their back.

The decision to put down an animal is NEVER easy. And then actually doing it is tearful as well. Praying for whatever decision is made leads to a deep peace in your heart. Found the part about which ewes had aborted and how they performed before to be really interesting! I’m hoping to buy 50-100 Lleyn ewes (Welsh breed) this year and start performance recording them. Partly because i think it’s the future of sheep farming but also because it makes such interesting KZfaq videos for sheep geeks like me! Keep telling us the stats Sandi, i love it 😁

Awww it's so heart breaking when one of the lambs get so sick and you have worked so hard to help her get better. When you've done it all and your gut tells you it's not helping you know it. You do a great job for your sheep.

It is so heart wrenching, I feel your desire to get her back. Love you for the hard effort and love you always give to them. I never know when to give up either but know at least we gave it our everything. I try to console myself with if it was meant to be it will. If not I did the best. you rock. She only ended up getting more paralysed and Sandy had to put her to sleep yesterday unfortunately. Even after 5days of treatment she was still really bad and showed no signs of improvement

That poor sheep! It's groaning and being stuck was heartbreaking! I honestly think I would have put it to sleep to end it's poor suffering. Which is obviously a hard call to make. I just hate seeing anything suffer. ☹

Thank you times 1 000 000 for the ewe stats regarding the number of lambs born during productive life of a ewe. I have long wondered the information from your barns and it is just as interesting and thought provoking as I expected. The ewe with the 22 lambs,,,, wonders now about her offspring and whether any of her ewe lambs have inherited the profundity? Of Sandi keep on reporting, entertaining and educating. I thrive on your vlogs.
