Scott L I am doing great. I did not do radiation because my doctor did not recommend it after looking at everything. I do an MRI every year to check on the tumor because my doctor left a little bit behind. Thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you the best of luck with everything.

@@BettieJanesian Thanks it's going well. I'm so glad you didn't do radiation. 15 MRIs since 2013, but early 2018 was my last one. Blood levels remain low. So far so good. Well done!

My mom had this surgery on Tuesday morning, it’s Saturday today and she is completely fine, back home and doing everything she was doing before surgery. No pain, no complications 👌🏽🙏 she is 66yrs old and we are happy to see her recovery this well.

d0uble _ 0 I still have the gland. They didn’t remove it. They only thing I take is levothyroxine for my thyroid but other than that all the hormones seem fine

@@d0uble_Omy neuro surgeon explained that if the gland is removed the patient will need to have hormone replacements for the rest of their life. Sadly.

@@DanieleManca1983 right!. i had a tummor next to mine. The surgeon wanted to remove it. My Endo doctor wanted to shrink it with Cabergoline..but if you stop the pill, it regrew again.What did i do? i went for both. Shrunk it with the pill and once smaller, had it surgically removed. Less surgical risk of glad obstruction/damage..i was in and out the surgery room! i keep taking the pill because of tumor residue and while the glad regained its ability to regulate the pipeline (thyroid). The endo doctor thought i was ganna have to be on the pill for the rest of my life and i literally recently mutually agreed to stop it to see if the gland had fully recovered. IT DID!. So glad im now as if nother ever happened. Fully recovered and back to perfect health! 🙏

xcalabur18 I was actually scared too. But here is what I remember. The anesthesiologist came to talk to me right before my surgery. He explained what he was going to do. I am sure they will do the same to you. I told him I’m anxious and I don’t want to see or remember the surgery room. So when it was time to go to the surgery room, he gave me something through my IV that relaxed me so much. I didn’t feel anything when they put the stuff in, but It kicked in, it felt like I have 4 glasses of wine and I was just soo relaxed and drowsy. It took my anxiousness away completely. All I remember is them rolling me in the surgery room. I don’t remember the room. I wouldn’t be able to tell you what it looked like. Next thing I know they were putting the oxygen mask and I remember the anesthesiologist saying “ok now we are going to put this mask on” and I dosed off. It was like I was sleeping. Next I woke up when they were putting me on the recovery room bed. It was hard waking up from it cus my surgery was really long and I was very drowsy. There is no way you can stay awake! Hey monitor your heart rate the entire time and if they see your starting to wake up, they give you more. I was scared that I was gonna wake up in the middle of my surgery. But will never happen. Hi if I may ask, what was your symptoms? I got referred to get an mri but I couldn’t afford it since I don’t have insurance so I’m trying to save up so I can get it done asap. I’m scared bc my eyesight is getting worse and the headaches are getting worse

@@carmenr.4252 Hi there, no worries. I had hemifacial spasm and trigeminal neuralgia, which prompted a FIESTA protocol MRI (a dedicated MRI for those conditions) which in turn also caught this pituitary mass of 1.67 cms in size. As for symptoms, I really didn't have too many, my eyesight is deteriorating quickly (could be due to the mass or age) and I have a severe field of vision reduction on L side. No headache. I did get MRI results and had appt with neuroendocrinologist after a ton of bloodtests. My mass is not affecting my pituitary function (so it cannot be reduced in size with medications) and is also not near the optic chasm (which would affect your optic nerve and vision) I just had microvascular decompression, which resolved my facial spasm and trigeminal pain, but not the vision troubles so to see if they are due to this mass, in a couple of weeks I will have an appt with a neurosurgeon to further assess whether extraction is needed or just monitoring for now via MRIs to see if it is changing in size.

@@kenasoup202the same symptoms occurred with my vision. Bitemporal hemianopia causing field vision loss, worse on right eye. The pituitary tumour was diagnosed and confirmed with MRI scan, as it is a little too large it must be removed through surgery. I hope you get your vision restored as well.

Hi, thanks for your comment, hope you are doing good. It took me about 2 to 3 month to fully gain my sense of smell back....it was slow but it came back eventually

Hana XoXo that is awesome! I’m soo happy you are doing well. Thank you for keeping me posted. The first week, before they took the stents out, I had to do the spray to keep everything moist. I recommend for you to do it every 2 hours. I got lazy and didn’t do it regularly and I had died blood on one side and it was completely blocked and hard to break through. So just keep doing the solution. You will be able to breath soooo much better when they take the stents out. That’s when you start the rinses. They told me to rinse 2 times a day but I am doing 3 because the past couple of times I went there some dry build up and it’s hard for them to get it out. So I recommend doing the rinse 3 times too especially if you live in a dry weather area. Keep me posted on how your recovery goes. Good luck!

rubberneckk I felts pretty tired and weak. Had a little bit of a headache but nothing too crazy. I just kind of took it easy and relaxed

Laura lalli thank you for your comment and good luck with your surgery. Right after the surgery you will be swollen so that swelling makes you feel like you have a headache and you feel pressure. It’s not painful just uncomfortable. You will be on pain medication so it’s totally tolerable. My period was still irregular after the surgery so unfortunately that did not go back to normal. No but my Dr. told me to use nasal rinses. It helped alot

Cheree Miller the pain wasn’t bad at all. It was very tolerable. It felt like pressure in my head kinda like a head ache but the medications definitely helped. Good luck with everything

Deperivi Animae thanks for your comment. My only option was surgery because my tumor was not producing the access prolactin it was what they call “stock effect” where the tumor is so big that it pressed on the stock of the gland causing the excess hormones. My tumor was 3cm and they said they could not shrink it with medication. After the surgery we found out that it’s a very rare type called pituacytoma there r not a lot of studies on this type of tumor so I just have to see if it will grow again. The only symptom I had before I found out was the high prolactin and long mental cycles. I am on thyroid medication now but other than that, everything is going great! Good luck with everything.

Victoria H great question. Have some pillows around to help you prop your head up. Have a notebook or something to write on so you can keep track of when you took your medication. They will probably have you in 2 or 3 medications. Have some soup or something warm prepared before hand. I remember I only wanted something liquid. I think that’s pretty much it. The recovery is not hard at all. You just need to rest up and take care of yourself. I wish you the best of luck! Keep me posted on how your surgery goes.

@@BettieJanesian When yyou say that your head was very swollen was that a physical actual looking of swollen and brusing or was it more just how stuffy your sinus's felt? Also, was there anything that you did leading up to surgery that helped? Lots of vitamin c, etc?

Victoria H I just was swollen all over from being in surgery for a long time. The swelling went down within the first week. I really didn’t take any vitamins or anything. I just focus on making sure that I was mentally ready for the surgery.

I also wanted to say thank you for making these videos. there really aren't any out there of people talking about pituitary tumors in specific.. their story and recovery and life etc. yes there are doctors talking but not patients quite as much. and i haven't found many blogs about it either. Hi! Yes mine covered the area and my nose was packed. I had stents in there for 2 weeks I think and I got it removed by the ENT. I was annoying to breath through my mouth for that long but I survived.

Mariam♡ I was ok to drive about a week and half after my surgery. The reason it took long is because I was on pain medication and I did t want to risk anything happening.

Bettie J that’s not too bad. Thanks for this video, very helpful. I know you might not know but what do you think of surgery for the removal of a 3mm tumor. It’s definitely not as big but it’s still there

Mariam♡ is it giving you any pain or discomfort? If I were you, I would remove it for the peace of mind. If you leave it, you are always going to worry about it.

Bettie J I found out about it because of constant headaches and eye sight change but those symptoms have stopped for a few months now although i still have the tumor. I’m thinking the Doctors may say it’s too small to remove but i’m not sure, i’ll find out next week. Thanks! :)

yelin sorry you had to go through that! Sedation at the time of MRI really helped me relax. So ask the center if they can give you some type of sedation before you go in. It takes the edge off.

Bettie J did you cover your eyes? listen to music I felt that made it worse but I didnt even try it? would having someone in there make it better? I really need this MRI

yelin I did ask them for a towel to cover my eyes before they put the cage on my face. It’s better to to see it when they put the cage on. I didn’t listen to music. The sedation really relaxed me so I was able to get through it without it.

Hello I just had surgery 2 weeks ago, I’m feeling pain still..

You will be ok. if I could do it, you could do it to. Go into it with a positive mindset and it will work out. You can only control your attitude about it
