This video goes into depth about the process of growing my basketball training business and what I learned along the way. This video is perfect for any basketball trainer, young entrepreneur or someone just curious of my journey to my current position!
The first phase of my business was dropping out of school to pursue what I wanted to do. Once I left school I got a full time job at a golf course while training part time. I was not charging a lot but was willing to train anyone and didn't care where or when, I would do it. I got as much experience as a basketball trainer as I could.
The second phase was turning it into a full time income. This was a slow methodical growth, did a lot of stuff I didn't want to do, put myself in uncomfortable positions, reached out to a lot of people and just stayed consistent. I slowly was building my clientele and got a point where I was making enough money for it to be considered a full time income. But getting to a comfortable level never was the goal. So then took it a step further and invested in opening up my own gym!
The third phase is trying to really scale it to another level. Gain more clientele, hire people, and increase streams of revenue. This is essentially the stage I am in now and is a new phase and new challenges just like every other phase in the business growth. This is currently where the business is and be sure to subscribe to follow along the journey!!

Bro when you started your basketball training career did you get any certificate and/or seminar? Did you write on paper your system and drills? Keep up the good work.
@tjltraining

Didn’t need any certification, just learned from the top people in the game and learned through a lot of trial and error

When you first started, where were you training at? I am just getting into the training business, and I currently only train at a local gym(XSport Fitness), but I can only train players 14+ because of the gym access. What do you recommend?

Find a few different spots, I was primarily training out of one big facility where I can bring all my own clients in but I was bouncing around to other spots as well

Do you think its a viable business if you're not doing the training yourself ? For example, if we hire a trainer/coach to work with the kids and rent gym space somewhere?
@tjltraining
@tjltraining 8 ай бұрын
It’s more difficult but doable, better if you can get the gym yourself instead of renting it then a more viable business

Hey bro did you have an LLC or DBA when you first started? If no..did you get a LLC after purchasing the gym? Lastly..is it necessary to have one doing this type of business? I am asking for myself..
@tjltraining
@tjltraining Жыл бұрын
I had an LLC prior to opening the gym as I was running my training business 2 year before getting the gym. I would say it helps to have an official business and tax returns when going to lease a space
