Chris, I very nearly sold my laney head and cab this week. I took it up to my office and thought I would give it one more play before the buyer picked it up. It sounded amazing??? I am guessing the difference in the two rooms, one with carpet and furniture muffled some of the tones I was missing. My office, much more open, tile floor and nothing to act as a baffle gave it new life. Moral of the story - everything has its place, sometimes it is an amp and "that" space it needs to breathe and sometimes it is amps stacked on top of each other against a wall hitting you on every part of your body. Have a great 2023 Chris. I hope your year is as good as you have made my 2022!!! BTW - I called the buyer and apologized but I could not sell it. They understood - as any guitar player would.

H&H cab, takes me back. In late 70's my 60's era AC30TB flaked out on me before a gig and I borrowed my friends H&H 100W solid state head (which had been dropped at some point and now distorted on channel 1 in a pleasing way) used in conjuction with an H&H 4x12 like the one shown. Got me through a slew of gigs till I could get the AC30 fixed.

Nice collection, Chris. Funny to hear you mention Woolworth... There was one on the main street in my town when I was a child, back in the 80's. I actually bought my first cassette tape there, GNR Appetite. I think it closed down probably around 1988-1990 or so. I had all but forgotten it ever existed until you mentioned the chain in this video. Hope you have a wonderful 2023, take it easy!

That's a nice collection! So envy! I have be eyeing JCM800 for years. Even though now they have the studio combo version, I still couldn't bear to spend the money and buy that for myself. The thought of what will I deprive of my kids and family from having if I spend so much money just for my hobby always prevent me from buying. I wish one day I would receive one in my dream as a birthday gift.

The Auditoria reminded me of my Selmer 15w little giant with it's optional and variable tremolo. Must be at least 60 years old now and aprt from the damaged to the front cover during one of my many house moves, and the worst for wear protective cover it still works. All it needs is a proper guitarist to go with it; or maybe I a can still make it happen? Thanks for Friday Fretworks and you're ongoing commitment to it. Always a great listen. Happy New Year.

I had one of thise H/H cabs, weighed an absolute tonne. The final time it made it up the stairs at my parents house was the last time it made any journey intact. I got a Marshall Jubilee shortly after with a much more manageable 2x12, so the cabinet’s final journey was in pieces after I broke it up and removed it from the house, rather than struggle down the stairs with it intact one final time. 😆😆😆

The TSL 100 had a design issue on a primary circuit board. That issue resulted in a circuit board replacement, which may have contributed to the sound change you mentioned. I have a dead one in the corner. It plays for a bit, but dies after heating up.

That JCM800 combo is great. People often overlook the Marshall combos beyond the bluesbreaker in favour of heads, but my goodness, some of them are awesome. My prized possession is my 1979 JMP 2103 100W, which is a 2x12 combo version of the JMP 2203 head. There are lots of the 50W 2104 combos about, but many of the 2103s were unfortunately converted to heads like the 2203 because they were just so heavy.

Crazy cool amp collection. That’s definitely an Uncle Larry aka Tom Bukovac 335 special…he inspired all of us to start playing them or wanting to play them after we heard the tones he was getting out of them. I think I remember a comment saying he inspired you to buy one. I’ve always been a huge fan and you introduced me to the Cali76 which I’m forever grateful for…but any fan or Uncle Larry is more than cool with me 😂 but you’re an amazing player and even when I thought you couldn’t get any better, hearing your recent solos show you can always improve and fine tune your style and your playing. Great video mate!
