This is touching. Some people don’t realize that athletes are humans and deserve to b treated as such. The hate spewed to Omar is unfair and disgusting. I defended him on an IG post today and someone said “i am too old to be on my knees for Omar”. Imagine trying to support an athlete that has done so much for 🇯🇲and this is the perspective someone ignorant person had. I will always support all my athletes, they deserve our support and appreciation. Respect Omar you are a great champ and I for one will always support your journey by cheering , wishing you well and offering a kind word when things don’t go great. We have to do a better job of treating our athletes like the stars they are, Omar should never have to feel this way, he doesn’t deserve it. 🙌🏽💫🇯🇲🙏🏽

Same here. I responded to a post on the OBSERVER page, stating that I hoped he never wandered to the comment section. The hateful comments were unreal! I was called a name, because I called out their ignorance. I can't imagine posting negative comments about someone running for your country.

At the end of the day he has a personal accomplishment that several may desire but never possess including sub 10 King A.P. Support is key yes but at the end of the day all he has is himself really and never mind the numbers once one has key Support personnel. We all will not get the Praise n due recognition here but to God be the glory. ... N if he is otherwise orientated, once he comfortable with his life who can stop him? Ppl will always do themselves amidst whatever others say

Have always appreciated this excellent athlete, a generational talent in the event, and a sub 10 100m runner. He was gifted in the 400m hurdles as well. Jamaicans hating this guy for things that have zero to do with athleticism is everything wrong with our cultures today. Civilized people shouldn’t make that the norm. Big ups to him.

Everything he said here is true. He never got the respect he truly deserves. There is a popular quote that says" go where you are celebrated, not where you are tolerated." Many Jamaicans didn't celebrate his success in the sport and that can be devastating for any athlete.

I was wondering over the years - why he ONLY do 110M hurdles and NOT combine it with 100M, 400MH or 400M flat. he is definitely a good athlete!!! Wherever you are, please know - you're the biggest factor to your healing.

Omar, you're a great athlete, and a great Jamaican. And all Jamaicans should be very proud of you. And I'm sure most well-thinking Jamaicans are, but there's always going to be the less intelligent, ungrateful minority who will find some irrelevant thing to criticize and make a fool of themselves about. Your greatness lies in the fact that you're the first Jamaican in history to win any kind of medal (much less a gold medal) in the 110m hurdles event (which has always been dominated by the US) at either the Olympics or World Championship. That's a very big deal (especially coming from such a small country). That's like when Bolt won the 100m in Beijing. So don't let foolish people make you feel unappreciated, because sensible Jamaicans appreciate and love you for your contributions to the country. I've always rooted for you, and was sorry to see that you were struggling over the last few years to get back to where you once were as an athlete and human being. So I hope you'll continue your current progress, because you still have a lot to give and to achieve.
