I always hated my hair growing up and had no idea how to style it. But also never had access to a flat iron, not even a hair dryer, so I just brushed it a lot and it was super dry and frizzy. When I was about 30 I did dreadlocks thinking it would be easier but it was a lot of work so I ended up brushing them out like a year after and that's when I found some curly hair videos and started taking care of it. Now I absolutely love my hair and have so much fun trying out products and techniques!

Woow what a journey! Love to hear it tho, it’s so great we have access to information about our hair now because it was a lot harder to find out about curly hair 10+ years ago

Mine was exactly like yours! Never really cared about my hair and for picture days I used to straighten it. But until I started watching YT videos on curly hair and saw how beautiful it was did I start to take interest. But became too much work and did it very lazily (My career is in medicine, so no time too). Only now starting to get back into my curl routine.

this was such a nice video for someone who is mixed with the same hair type as you!! i’ve never had anyone with textured hair in my life to help me out with stuff like this so i am very grateful! i didn’t have all the products in the vid so i kinda made do with that i had but i can already tell there’s a difference in my hair compared to my everyday 5min routine 💞💞

This was an interesting way to do this. Being a male, I've had mine done similar to this but it was flat-ironed instead. My hair, for a while, was longer than yours and possibly thicker as well. I got the same results as you did here, just done with the traditional heating methods. But this way keeps it moisturized a lot longer and seemingly takes less time. Right now, mine is breaking a bit and likely needs to be cut. I won't complain if it does, I've had long hair much of my life and admittedly, have been the envy of many females (and some males, white as well as black!!) Keep up your technique, baby girl! It's one of the more natural way of caring for hair. PEACE *🌹✝*

I’m curious to know what your natural hair type is. I would definitely say if you have naturally curly hair to use products and techniques like I used in the video to define your hair rather then heat tools so you don’t have the chance of heat damage! And maybe you should think of getting braids instead of cutting it off! And thank you🤗🤗

@@danaerose6943 Not sure of my hair type, but I do have curly hair by nature so I can only guess at this point, possibly 3B/3C. It's mostly frizzy when very dry (when wet, extremely curly) If I apply a moisturizer of some sort while combing/brushing it out after showering it will be wavy, almost straight about four inches or so from the roots. I really never sat down with the lady that's been doing it over the last 10-15 years. I'd completely trusted her cause she's always been the professional. Maybe I should start inquiring more in order to use the right products for it. Other events in my household have put consistent hair care on hold for the last five years, so I'm not wholly upset about it. Anyway, this was informative as most of the hair care vids are but this one was a bit different, special even. Thank you!!🌹

My mom always braided my hair into two pigtails and they would be really tight and I would be scratching my head and pulling my hair out. I also saw so many girls with straight hair and could style them very nice, and I really wanted to do that. So I started straightening my hair in 6th grade and continued that all the way to middle school, but once I got to high school, I started to miss my hair, I had never had my hair down and just letting my curls out and I regret that so much. Now I am trying to fix my hair and it is slowly getting better

Love this soo much! I grew up with dead straight hair but one day I went camping and it went curly and never went back (I was 11 at the time) I’m now 13 and going into my teenage years and I’ve been obsessed with everything beauty, skincare, makeup, haircare and fashion. For the 2 years I had curly hair i ruined it, got to the point where there was no curls on frizz (🤮). I’m finally getting out of my straightening hair phase (although it only lasted a few months)
