So glad I found your channel. I ordered a 2021 AMD Omen 30L with 16gb of Ram and ordered an additional 16gb for when it arrives. It’s awesome to have such a quick and easy way to circumvent the limitations of the Omen BIOS locking us out of the MHz on the additional ram kits.

Thank you very much for your vids! I also got a HP Omen 25L and did more or less the same mods as you. Heat is really an issue with these. I installed 120mm fans in top and bottom of the case, replaced the 92mm rear fan and a new CPU-cooler. The temp dropped from 85-95 celcius to 45-70 celcius, both GPU and CPU, dependent of load ofcourse. Replaced the RAM aswell to 32Gb and followed your instructions. Again, thanks for your videos! Cheers! :)

Thanks Paul and congrats on the Omen. I originally was building a PC ( April / May of 2020 ) and at that time, CPU’s and PSU’s were months behind on shipping out, so I bought the Omen. Hey man, not sure if you are still reading the comments on these older videos, but really appreciate that you recorded the progression of having your HP L25. I want to buy a newer model of L25 and it basically came down to it being best PC for it's price but the cooling is bad. Ah mate, thanks so much for all your content on this channel. I got my Omen 25l a couple of months ago and though I have absolutely loved it, I've had issues with cooling since the start (90 degrees at times on the CPU when gaming!). I'm completely new when it comes to PCs so wouldn't have dared opening it up until I found your guides. I've just installed 4 fans in the same configuration as yours and have dropped the temps by nearly 20 degrees in game and 10 at idle. Once I work up the courage I'm gonna have a go at the CPU replacement - taking the whole thing apart gives me the fear! Anyway, thanks again mate! Keep up the awesome work.

Hey Christian! From what I’ve seen, most 3070’s will fit except the triple fan version which may be a little too bulky to fit in the case. Most seem to be running the founders edition cards, and they fit great. 750w will be more than enough to power that system with a 3070! 👍🏻

Did you originally put in a slim and went with a standard later or has it always the same Noctua fan? Getting ready to start updating my 30L and want to be sure which exhaust you are using, so if you can let me know which one it is I would appreciate it. 92mm Slim Noctua Chromax or 92mm Noctua Chromax Fan? Thanks Rob! I’ve got a few videos planned before the end of the year. Actually, as of now, I run no slim fans in my system anymore. While they do work, the Noctua normal size fans push more air and are a lot quieter. I should have a new fan update video within the next day or so. @DanKamYouKnow 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jo, the absolute best mod you can do is replace the stock air cooler for a much better one. The Noctua U9S is hands down the best mod you can do for it. If your Omen came with a liquid cooler though, then swapping out the case is your best bet to lower temps. The fan additions do help, just not as drastically as the cooler.
@rbtobeck
@rbtobeck 3 жыл бұрын
Wow I'm impressed with not only your videos but also how you reply to just about every comment. Is there are reason you went with the noctua chromax air cooler over the corsair h60 liquid cooler? I think i saw in a comment that the chromax had better results from other builds maybe
@DanKamYouKnow
@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! While the H60 is a whole lot better than the stock air cooler, I’m not a big fan of 120mm AIO’s. With that being said, my Noctua U9S has yielded better results than all of the 120mm AIO’s that have been placed in Omens. Air coolers are extremely silent and have zero fail points, just always been my preference. If you’re case swapping though, the bigger AIO’s ( 240 / 280 / 360 ) are fantastic though!
@rbtobeck
@rbtobeck 3 жыл бұрын
@@DanKamYouKnow i ended up swapping it out for the H60 aio. Its done amazing. Cpu Temps are now maxed around 45 when benchmarking with shadow of tomb raider. However my gpu gets maxed out around 74 when under full load. This might be a stupid question but why don't gpu have the same easy swap out parts set up like the cpu cooler, or all the other fans in the pc? I did see a video that the fans of the gpu are connected to the gpu itself if you take it apart. I have Intel i7 10700, gtx 1660 super. Since you're a big noctua fan im sure you would love to have noctuas on your gpu. Or even another noctua chromax air cooler on the gpu. I know space would be an issue on the hp omen The stock cooler did decent, and I was surprised how much it actually covered Intel cpu compared to amd. Similar to your setup I went with 4 noctua fans (top, bottom, front, and rear). Thinking about getting one more for the push pull configuration with the radiator. Thanks for your help. Its my first time actually messing with my pc and loving it.

@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear the H60 worked out for you! It’s so much fun learning how to mod PC’s and build them. So, your GPU temps actually look really good, and 74 is nothing to worry about at all. If you want to bring it down a little more though, you could always use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan curve for the GPU fan. Glad I could help you out 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the late response, thank you! I want my machine to run VERY cool so I added all of my fans but a top mount fan and a bottom one will help tremendously over the stock configuration and totally work for you. Also, replacing the rear fan and CPU cooler fan will also greatly help your temps too. Even in it's stock configuration, the PC will run warm but the temps will be safe.

@DanKamYouKnow
@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Well, you could always add fans inside the case and if you have a warranty concern, you could easily remove the fans. As long as your PC is in stock form, they will perform the warranty work. So if you did need warranty work, you just remove the fans before sending the PC in for the work. Top mount 120mm makes a difference and so does a bottom mount 120mm

Yes, the Omen motherboard will support pretty much any graphics card. There are Omen users who have installed 3070’s and 3080’s in their Omens with no problems. @DanKamYouKnow
@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
If you are on the stock cooling system and are seeing very high CPU temps, I would recommend running the max processor state at 99% until you change out the cooling stuff. It will slight hinder performance but greatly reduce temps. I use to hit 93c when rendering videos on my Omen, which is throttling territory. The 99% helped with temps a whole lot, then I installed my CPU cooler and went back to 100%. It’s a temporary fix but with my Ryzen processor, it didn’t really seem to change performance that much.

Hi Dan. I just bought a 25L and I was wondering if you could help me figure out what hardware upgrade I should prioritize first. I've got the 3700X & 2060 and currently only have the 2 stock OMEN fans. I already removed the metal pannels on the top bracket to improve airflow. I also only have a single stick of 16G 3200 ram. I don't really have a budget, however, would like to make the best bang for my buck upgrade. I guess its down to: top 120mm fan, noctua U9S or another stick of 16G ram? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate the in depth OMEN videos.

@@DanKamYouKnow Linus was complaining that you can't overclock the CPU because HP has limits to what you can do with their pre builts. The Omen he had came with the Intel CPU. If that’s in US dollars, then that is a great deal for that build. Depending on which 3xxx series graphics card you get, you will probably have to swap out the 500w power supply to a 650w or 750w. Yes, that is normal for the diamond to flash during sleep mode. Unfortunately you cannot turn it off either.

I am trying to remove the non-glass side panel to switch out my power supply. The only info I could find is removing one screw by the current psu and trying to slide the side panel forward. Have you done this on your omen or know how to remove it?
@DanKamYouKnow
@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have, just for cable management. There is the lone screw at the bottom near the PSU sand with a bit of force while laying on its side, it will pop forward and out. Check out this short video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a5mCZL2rut7Pqmg.html

I do not have a video of me doing it unfortunately. Once the PC is laying flat though, just use your thumbs to push it forward. It will take a good amount of “umph” to get it to slide.

Are you able to control fan speed of the noctua air cpu cooler in the omen command center?

Between the Noctua NH-U9S cooler and those case fans, which ones do you think play a more important role in cooling down the CPU below the stock levels?
@DanKamYouKnow

Noctua U9S is by far the best thing you can do for an Omen ( if it comes with the stock air cooler ). The fans help a bit but the cooler is a DRASTIC change 👍🏻

Can I make my top fan an intake so it pushes right into my CPU Cooler then blows out the back?
@DanKamYouKnow
@DanKamYouKnow 3 жыл бұрын
Sure, the best way is to experiment with it and see what works best. I’ve tried both methods and for my current setup, it worked best and an exhaust fan BUT, it could work better for you as an intake. Takes about 5 mins to flip the orientation 👍🏻

What cooling system are you planning on running? You definitely should not need to change the PSU for a different cooling system. Yes, you can use off-brand RAM but it will default to a lower speed. In stock configuration, they can run pretty warm but should not throttle. With the additions of some fans, it’ll dial back temps a good deal. A CPU cooler makes all the difference in temperatures. My temps are fantastic with my Noctua U9S air cooler.
