My Custom Car Build, Side Exhaust And Intercooler

This was the start of my custom car project. Filmed in 2020. I wanted to add a personal touch and learn, by hand, every part of customizing a car.
Many things in the series are my first time doing them as I purposely wanted to learn and share the experience.
Car is a 2008 Chevy HHR SS 5 speed turbo
Projects in the video are a custom side exhaust
Larger intercooler with aluminum piping
Relocation and upgrade of MAP sensor
BOV
Silicon fittings
Short ram intake
ECU tune with more boost
Future vids will cover
Short shifter
Chassis parts like anti-sway bars, motor mounts, coil-overs

I’m all in for this video series! I would argue most car audio enthusiast are also car guys and will appreciate this series.

Great work...I think some stuff you have done even better like some people who think about themselves that they are "professionals"...I like how you done things simply by your simple logical thinking...also a tip for tuning the exhaust system's sound lower and more rumbly: unequal length exhaust headers - for example for Hondas exist the "1320 UEL header" what makes Hondas sound like Subarus - this can be made for every regular i4 engine too, also there are vids here on yt where it is explained how this works, and a vid in which someone made something similar literally from scrap just to test out that if the car really will sound like that...yes, there will be unequal backpressures in cylinders, but anyways, in every aspect it should be better like the factory header, also gives some + power, and reduces turbo lag...performance wise an equal length header would be better, but that would make that "can of angry bees"-like sound...just as I can see, in your engine bay is very small free space: it is possible to make it, but it will be really hard...and also it is possible to experiment with it: the longer half of it make a bit shorter / longer, etc. - this changes the sound

Where's the two-step yo? I'm the same as you close to your age in Pennsylvania. Started out in the car stereo seen until I bought an Audi with a turbo and ever since then I kind of fell out of the car stereo seeing and got more into the horsepower. Turbo noises are addicting. Had three cars 500 horsepower MK5 GTI, beautiful eighth gen Honda Civic on air ride, and an MK4 Jetta GLI turbo has over 265,000 mi on it. Sold all the car decided to keep the cheapest one. The 01 Jetta GLI stage 2 tune downpipe straight pipe so you can really hear the turbo. Car never lets me down

lol, it does have factory launch control with rev limiter and no lift shift. I've never used any of it though. I love driving quickly, especially in a nimble car. Though I will also be adding a big stereo setup. No part of this car will be left un-customized.

Great car, I just got from auction a front end damage HHR SS, but mine is the auto….. from my experience with my lnf cobalt, the stock Ko4 max psi you want to run on it is 25 psi, mine at 25 psi lasted 2 years

I did drive the car hard daily tho
