Rough and dirty defines my construction style, too. The great thing about these kind of videos is they make the custom workspaces accessible to the newbies out there that don't have a router, table saw, and a $30,000 gift card to Rockler.

The “not perfect” is what makes your videos perfect. Much better than watching someone with a 100k shop spend a week making a shelf. Remember this when you’re rich and famous from this channel.

My autism hates dust and dirt when it comes to my camera gear so my cameras often hang out in dedicated Lowepro bags. HOWEVER, I love your style of using scrap wood like you do and also do similar when it comes to tool space. Combining the two is a really cool aesthetic and it is making me very happy to see. If I attempt something similar I feel like I’d need to build said shelves in a seperate space before cleaning and bringing into the camera area space, but I may just do something like that

I love the absolute utility mindset. Hurts me a little bit to not have lens caps in such a dusty environment, but that's made up by the 30 degree tilt of the shelves ;)

Thanks for making videos. I just found you tonight and immediately binged half your content. I've been stuck on a bunch of half started projects because I keep "needing" another piece of kit or tool or something. But I don't really. I just need to do the things. Your videos spark so much creativity and your philosophy is inspiring.

I love this 😊 i like that you have an idea and just get a piece of scrap wood and go at it! I use plastic storage bins from dollar tree to organize my lenses 🤣🤣 I’ve added those little silica packets in case that creates any extra moisture but so far it’s working great! And hey even if you don’t use all the lenses all of the time that’s fine. Your c-mount lens video was very inspiring

I found this channel a few weeks ago and have since seen every video. I love them. Feel it's kinda rude, but since I have watched everything and will watch every future video, I allow myself to ask: Can anyone recommend any similar channels? The mix between diy, photography/videography and relaxed storytelling is so perfect. The closest thing I know is Van Neistat (who is clearly an inspiration to Evan), but I need more.

Hey, instead of puting the drill batteries (or even camera batteries too) in a place that makes it hard to grab them quickly, vertically hard mounting the chargers on an independent box could provide better usability and future expandability. Watch "Casey Neistat's Wildly Functional Studio" at 12:30 for a better idea of what I'm talking about. A simpler solution could be to have a 2x4 be mounted flush with the front inside of the shelf and the chargers could be mounted on that (Though you would lose work space that way) P.S. I think the tiny lens section should have a backing, one wrong nudge while grabbing one could make a lens fall backwards out of the shelf, that or the baby lenses could have their own angled shelf cradle (yes, that pun was fully intentional).
@EvanMonsma
@EvanMonsma 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestions! only reason I didn't hard mount the powertool chargers right now is that they travel with me pretty often so I havent wanted to fix them into the studio yet. But eventually I'll get two sets and mount these more permanently for sure.
