A new addition to my dad's growing handcrafted pen portfolio. We listened to your feedback and did some changes in regards to comfort vs functionality. We also added a handmade stand to each pen for safe resting.
Would love to hear some additional feedback from you!

I had no idea how ebony actually looked. It is interesting how it is naturally so dark. Thank you for sharing

Sir Stopan❣️ I feel like these Pens are very nicely designed, I would like to suggest to you and your father that maybe to include a sort of a grip, which are just a little divot where the holder will rest on middle finger a small divot (concave space). This will help to hold the nib holder from sliding , it would be easier to hold while writing.💖 It dose not have to be a large, how do you say, “indention “. Then the silver decoration would not bother the finger.

A wonderful result as always Stopan. Congratulations to your father. Beautiful designs that are so appealing. I am wondering if your father prefers the flat finish of the ebony, or if it is just the camera that makes it look flat. I use Gabon ebony to make the tops of harpsichord keyboards and use a series of sand papers down to 1500 grit followed by a buff wheel with no oils, etc. The result is an almost glassy finish that lets those subtle steaks in the grain glow under light. It is delightful to touch with good grip - not slippery, but not too much friction either. Something else that occurs to me is how the set would be finished off nicely if the pen holder had a decorative silver base to mirror the pens silver work. Best wishes and good luck to you both with this excellent project.

Thank you for taking the time to share this! I believe he stops at the 1500 grit sandpaper as well but hasn't tried the wheel polish. I'll forward the idea to him! But yes, the ebony in this condition has more of a matte finish with almost no shine. By the way, what exactly do you mean by a silver base? The same thing I call a stand on the video or something else! Many thanks for your kind remarks and have a great weekend!

Hello Stopan, by silver base I mean something like a decorative silver band around the bottom of the wood base similar to the silver work on the pen itself, so that the pen and it's holder/base are more harmoniously married in visual design. Thanks for asking me to clarify. 🙂

You said you'd like writing habits, as a painter, and writer perhaps my input would be useful. When i brush with paint, I often hold the brush from the end, Because it allows me to see the work from farther away. I'm not sure how many people do this with pens and pencils, but lately I've been holding my charcoal, and ink pens from a bit farther from the tip as well. Perhaps a niche pen design might have a groove farther back on the pen for users like myself?

Thank you for sharing this! It's quite the coincidence to be honest, because my dad's new design consists of two pieces of wood connected by a silver ring. It's a bit more towards the front but I believe it can be done on the back as well. I'll forward this idea to him and maybe we'll make it a bit more elongated. I've seen Japanese calligraphers write with big brushes held at the end but never with smaller utensils. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
