StarWars was made for the mind of a child. Lucas made THX1138 for adults and then decided to write a version for children (his own children specifically) and the outcome was StarWars. The first instinct for any child during the "I am your father" reveal is denial and that is a thing of beauty. A child can't fathom a father attempting to kill his son or a son denying his father. It adds layers for years to come.

I still love watching the saga, but watching my daughters see them for the first time brings back the same feelings I had as a child. It was really baby Yoda that sparked their interest in seeing all of them. This is great, you have a lifelong fan in the making there. And she's so young she won't even get annoyed by Jar Jar Binks.

I didn't hear the Palpatine scream from Return as Luke fell in Cloud City. Makes me wonder just how many versions of these movies there are out there. I'm guessing I'm not alone in wishing for an option on the blu-rays for theatrical cut and directors cut. I've watched these movies too many times as a kid to not notice and be jarred by even small changes. There was a dvd set with the original versions but my ex somehow ended up with em. Also I'm posting this on 5/3 so may tomorrow be with you and your family. Cheers!

A little of envy here. I watched around her age, but in a small square tv. And I also bothered by the hand vanishing.

Showed this to my 8-yr old a month ago. Was waiting for an epic reaction to the big paternity reveal. “No, I am your father.” She turns to me, “Is that true?” Me, “Yes.”. Her, “Huh.” 😳😳😳. What?! That’s it?!! 🤦‍♀️😉

I was about her age (5) when I saw the Empire Strikes Back in 1980. Unfortunately, we had to wait 3 years to see how it turned out. I do know some of my friends were like her in that they thought Darth Vader was lying about being Luke's father. She only believed when her father confirmed it.
