Holy fuckballs this has over 60k views and rising! For real though guys thank you so much. I originally uploaded this onto KZfaq just because a friend asked me to record Mom’s reaction and the file was too big to send anywhere. I never would have thought that it would have blown up like this. Mom and I were reading all the comments, although admittedly there’s a lot to keep up with now 😅 we think it’s incredible that so many people out around the world can relate to this same feeling. Every message is appreciated and super heartwarming. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the kind words ❤️ Also just to touch up on a few things that have been mentioned- Mom has been working on quitting smoking for a while. It’s a slow and steady process though but there has been progress, I promise. It’s been a long time since either of us have watched the original trilogy so she admittedly forgot about Luke’s saber being green. Don’t worry I called her out on it too 😂. Finally as this was just supposed to be for some friends, I didn’t bother with optimally recording her reaction in landscape. If I ever do this again I’ll be sure to record it properly.

I only wish Kathleen Kennedy had put that kind of magic into the sequel trilogy. Rogue One felt magical to me despite how gritty it was. A lot of people felt like it was a boring film, but I feel like it gave us a glimpse into what it was like to be a rebel in the trenches, and the interactions with K2SO were hilarious at times. Plus, Vader slaughtering rebel scum😎😎😎
@ZazzilasArden
@ZazzilasArden 3 жыл бұрын
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar If people liked the new sequels, you wouldn't even need to be making a comment like that. They are divisive for a reason. Kathleen Kennedy tried to suck the soul out of Star Wars and turn it into identity politics, plain and simple. The Disney sequels are nothing but a trilogy of Mary Sue fanfiction. These boys are bringing Star Wars back. This is how Star Wars is meant to be. This is the way.

She doesnt remember that Luke had a green lightsaber, she doesnt know that "The Mandalorian" happens just 5 years after ROTJ, she doesnt really know that well that "Katano Woman", she doesnt know what CGI is, BUT that excitement, those tears, that emotion, her putting both of her hands in her mouth, that second grade reference, that OH MY GOD while trying to hold her heart when Luke reveals his face, that kiss to the screen when R2 appeared, all that is 100% PURE BLOOD STAR WARS FAN DNA, so it is clear is not about memorizing every detail about every SW book ever written what makes a SW fan a fan, it is what we saw in this vid, for a few minutes she became one with SW, and SW became one with her.

I know what I wrote below is unsolicited & not really my place but I can really relate to the pain, the stress and the hopelessness that (I imagine) you are struggling with & feeling at the moment. The following may come off weird but hear me out... I don't know why but after reading your comment something compelled me to click on your page which resulted in me watching a couple of your videos and I felt further compelled to write this comment. You are incredibly talented, you have a gorgeous voice and to say you have 'the look' would obviously be an understatement... you have such great potential but like most people you just need someone, regardless of whether it's a friend or partner, that who be in your corner to push & motivate you, will advocate & fight for you and will stand by you & support thru the good and the bad. The person you were in a relationship with was not that person but is the one who is missing out. One important thing is to always remind yourself "this too shall pass" & "nothing lasts forever". Yeah, they might sound corny & cliche but it's in our darkest times when we can truly experience the power of those words. Just as a side note - personally, the 'serenity prayer' has always helped me during times when life felt overwhelming and when things were a mess/chaotic. 🙋‍♂️😊

Respect. My teenage kids were so confused by my personal reaction to this moment, tears streaming down my face. But they will never understand. They weren't there when Star Wars was new, when there had been nothing like this before, when Luke was the hero we all wanted to be. The absolute joy of a wide eyed eight year old kid staring at the cinema screen in disbelief in a time before mobile phones, with three channels on the TV and the internet did not exist. I knew as soon as I saw that green saber and at that moment I got so excited that the kids even looked up from their phones (!) to stare at me as if I was some kind of looney 😳. The OP's comment is so profound and compelling -- particularly when combined with the first reply. It underscores how and why KK and RJ earned their reputations as deceitful wrecks (at least as it pertains to their involvement with SW). And then you have that one designated Twitter mob -- the vast majority of whom weren't even conceived before 'Return of the Jedi' was released, and yet they arrogantly talk down to Mark Hamill as if they know Luke better than he does. What a joke. If I recall correctly, they even demanded he apologize to Rian Johnson for completely disagreeing with how Luke was portrayed in TLJ.

This is a glimpse into the emotional attachments that luke brought to so many people. If Disney ever wonders why their trilogy was so badly received and why their treatment of luke in those films was so despised, look at this.. you can't play with people's emotions. He meant so much to so many people and to see him depicted that way was such a let down. Jon Favreau gets it. 7 minutes of Sweet redemption.

I was 5 when my dad took me to see Star Wars in the theater when it first came out. We saw the next 2 in the theater also. I’ve spent over half my life being in love with SW, the lore, the characters, Luke, and all the rest. I never wanted Barbies for Christmas. I wanted Star Wars action figures. I wore a Leia costume ALL. THE. TIME. When the movies came out on VHS my siblings and I watched them over and over and over again. When I had my own kids, I had the pleasure of raising them to love Star Wars. The sequels broke me. When KK said women couldn’t relate to Luke or male characters like him, my resentment towards her and that whole camp who took a story that has been a beloved tradition in my life since 1977 and treated it so ignorantly and carelessly, reached epic levels. I never thought I’d ever see my Luke again. This episode healed a scar that I didn’t even know was so deep until I saw Red 5 fly across that window. My brother and I started screaming and then we both began to sob. THIS was the Master Luke we’ve been waiting so long to see. THIS was the treatment he deserved. It was an honor to see it. I dont even care about the CGI. To see Luke’s face as I remember him as that little girl staring in awe at the movie screen was EVERYTHING.

Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. I was just shy of 4 years old and I remember the experience vividly. I was sitting on my dad's shoulders while we waited in the line of moviegoers that had extended down the street and around the building. I remember being amazed at the idea that all these people were there to see the same movie we were going to see. I was hooked on movies from that day forward and Star Wars is the reason. I remember the excitement going to see episodes V and VI and being smitten with Yoda from the moment I saw him. I remember my brother and I creating a silly dance to the Imperial March that we still bust out to this day when we hear it. I remember my brother and I riding our bikes to the corner store and buying packs of SW trading cards with the awful sticks of pink bubble gum inside. I remember having a plush doll of Wicket the Ewok and all the original action figures - even the ones with the light sabers that were really just a piece of plastic that you would slide out of the figure's arm. I remember constantly trying to use the Force to move things in my room, even though it never worked. All of this felt like just yesterday when I saw Luke's face on The Mandalorian. What a feeling! All hail Favreau and Filoni. Thank you for blessing us. It's a glorious time to be a Star Wars fan.

I'm an Englishman nearing retirement age, so pretty stoic on the whole, and I unashamedly wept to see the hero of my childhood getting the screen-time he deserved rather than the travesty that was the Disney-verse Sequels. Hopefully Lucas can get those things erased from canon once and for all. It was such a moment of what Tolkien calls eucatastrophe - in some ways her reaction is all the more powerful because she was assuming Luke was dead at this point in the timeline.

My house burnt down in march. My 10 year relationship ended in may. I found my dad face down after 3 strokes in june. I've lost 4 people to covid in the past 3 months. I say all that to say I completely forgot about all of the terrible things from this year for those 8 minutes. We REALLY needed this this year.

70s & 80s babies have such a connection to the first 3 movies......I wish you young folks were alive to experience it back in the day. I'm happy to see over 40 years later you all continue to support the legacy of Star Wars. I'm 47 years old and was in tears when I saw that green saber and gloved hand....and then for R2 to show up. The nostalgia really does warm the heart if you were a child back then. The Mandalorian Season 2 was just awesome!!

That part where she said "Its not like its luke skywalker, they're not gonna save anything". That right there is an OG Star Wars fan who got burned on the sequels. So her reaction later on is what many experienced and that was the Star Wars kid in them coming back to life after the sequels killed that little kid in them.

You should see Mark Hammil's "reaction" to this scene. Its full of great lines, like "Dont get your hopes up, Mark, its still Disney," "My expectations have been subverted" and "Remember, the sequels are not canon."

Man I gotta tell you, even though she doesn't remember some details like the green saber and what time in the universe it is, you can tell that it's true love for Star Wars. This is now my favorite reaction. It's very hard to get my eyes to water, and I felt like my eyes wanted to water when I watched this episode but they wouldn't crack. This reaction made my eyes water yo and to see somebody else with such passion for Luke is what it took lol. What a magical moment for Star Wars fans this episode was.

All the fans wanted was to see their heroes treated with respect and to bring back some of the wonder if childhood or teen years. We didn't want subverted expectations. Just to have a few more hours with them as we remembered them and see where they were.

I watched the last episode three days ago with my 50-something wife. Our youngest (19) came in to watch our reaction. Watching your mom, gave me an even more emotional response than seeing it first-hand - and that’s saying a lot. In my opinion, Favreau and Filoni managed to restore our faith in Star Wars, giving us the story fans deserve. Your mother's response only makes that opinion more certain. Good on you for sharing this.
