I did this DIY peel and stick floor with a marble pattern in my kitchen and it is stunning!

When you pull it up - after two years it seems like the grout would of affected the tone or texture of the floor on the bottom. Are you sure it's not affected?

She put a nylon layer under, so I think it shouldn't stick.

I don't understand why you can't have your own floor. Here the Netherlands when you rent a place you can choose your own flooring, you can paint any wall, you can screw things in the wall. You can paint the doors or change them even. The only thing is when you decide to move out (we don't have contract for a year, if you rent you can decide to live there your whole life if you want to, they won't kick you out unless e.g. you don't pay your rent for some period of time or when your parents die and it doesn't matter how old you are you have to get out cause the kids aren't the one renting (yes this happens) or other stuff) you have to get the house back to it's "original" state, so that means filling all the holes in the wall, putting the old doors back, getting rid of the flooring etc however if the new tenant likes the doors, floor etc they can take it over from you for a price (depends on what it is). So sometimes the new tenants like the floor so they don't have to buy a new one, they buy yours for a decent price. This will be in the contract aswell if I am not mistaken. But when tge new tenant doesn't like it or don't want it you have to take the floor etc down. Btw all the rental housrs in the Netherlands are without a floor, it is literally bare and no paint on the walls so you always have to do that yourself. You can also change the kitchen, but the big things like kitchen or bathrooms you have to ask permission for but it also depends on the owner. Note that people who rent from a private owner not a company then it's more dofficult to change something, it really depends on the owner. And sometimes they do rent fully decorated houses but that it mostly for expats and such. Also students dorm is also different I believe (I never lived in a dorm just stayed home it was cheaper and I studied at a university just one city away. Like 30 min with the train so it was easier to live at home and save money). Anyways long story short....why can't you make a rental home in the US not to your own liking? Find it strange!

American renters do DIYs like those shown in this video and fill in holes in the wall when moving out. Most apartments come with appliances which is a good thing as most renters don't have the income to shop for new appliances or to hire moving companies to move. Americans don't rent for life as in the Netherlands, most renters move within a few years and the expectation is that people will buy their own home at some point though in recent years that's become increasingly difficult for the average American to accomplish.

can't do anything to a rental here in Aus. it's someone else's house and usually you can't even stick anything on the wall. it's fkd up.

I have these tiles and I didn’t put the spacing like she did and I just sweep and swiffer if I do a deep clean I just use my spin mop with hot water and floor cleaner of choice

That's what I was thinking. The tiles are stuck to a shower curtain and not the floor. Maybe the grout stops it moving around 🤷‍♀️

I applied straight to wood floors like not laminate like actual wood in my bedroom my house is old but it works so well it’s even unlevel a little but still has stick and hasn’t peeled up
