My Dog Pees When He's Nervous To Be Touched. My dog pees when i put leash on him. Dog pees when he sees me. does this sound like your dog? @@DiamondDogTraining I have watched many of your videos and they provide great insight on how to help a dog be more comfortable. All of my previous dogs were fine off leash, but my current pet [3 yr old Shih Tzu] I have felt I would never be able to teach her to come back if she got out of her harness. I've started practicing with your tips for the "come" command as my pup is very treat driven! I just find that your channel is so sweet; your energy with Nicky shows how much you love and respect her. That's priceless!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kindness. When you are calling your dog, find your dog’s highest value reward . Experiment with many different foods, toys until you find the best motivator. Shih Tzu can be very independent. You have to convince your dog you are more interesting than everything else in the world. Always reward for coming . Hope this helps. Have you watched the videos on Teaching your dog to Come? [Her name is Chime :) ]I think she will be successful since she does love her treats and was easy to train for other behaviours. I was given an abused dog about 1 year old due to this problem. Her sister was shot in front of her and mostly locked in an outside cage. Need help here pls. She never barks either. I need to groom her asap due to her bad hairloss and the farm area were living in. My pedigree Canadian wolf wasn't like this.

How is your dog doing. Be patient, turn away from your dog to pet him. Bend down low, let your dog approach you from the rear and come around beside you. Try not to look directly at your dog. Research how to understand calming signals in dogs. Let me know how you are doing. Thank you Joyce

I have a dog that seems to have separation anxiety. At least that’s what I think. When my schedule changes he bites at his back and looses hair and sometimes bleeds. He doesn’t have fleas and doesn’t have allergies. I have taken him to the vet and those meds don’t work. Do u have any suggestions?

I am not a veterinarian, so I can't give medical advice. But, I can give you advice on behavior. I would first determine if when your schedule changes, are there any other thing that change. diet, when dog is fed. different people caring for him. different treats. make a list of those things first. Then if you pinpoint the reason is because your schedule changes, set up a video to watch your dog when you are away. I assume you mean when schedule changes means , you are away from the house. Watching your dog on the video, should give you some clues. does he pace, scratch at the door, pant. All the signs of separation Anxiety. Send me a comment telling me what he does when you are away. my suggestions would be to start practicing Separation Anxiety Exercises when you are home. try having him wear a Thundershirt when you are home first to get used to it. talk to your vet to ask for a different medication to see if that helps. So many questions I could ask you. But i am sending the link to the video to start. Remember, helping a dog with separation anxiety starts by working through the exercises at home before your dog is left alone. we are getting a puppy that will be eight weeks this week. He just started scared peeing because he got repremanded very roughly from the breeder for trying to escape. The breeder said he kicked him ,we thought it was a bad joke but now we think it was true because she now pees when we approach her. Her mother also bit her all the time extremely rough parenting . Will she improve in a calm home.

If this is true, the person's cruelty, ( I will not even call this person a breeder) and the mother's rough treatment, your puppy has had a horrible start. you will need to allow your puppy to come to you. Sit on the floor and face away from your puppy, toss yummy treats behind you and let your puppy eat the treats and come to you on his time. give your puppy lots of space to move away and decide when to come to you. when you do approach her, face away from her sit on the floor. you can get lower by laying on the ground. Try not to make any eye contact look away . Those oare signs you want to be a fiend. Let me know how you are doing. Joyce

My dog pees when my wife and i try to pick him up. We rescued him and his brother when they were 6 months. They are now 20 months. They are a little intimidated my me but not my wife. No problems with his brother. We i call them they will often run to their bed. There has been times when I have picked him up and he will continue to pee in my arms. I'm starting a group dog training class tomorrow. But I really don't know if that's the issue. He hasn't always done this but has gotten a lot worse since my wife had to return to the office and not work from home due to covid. I am retired. Any suggestions..

Do you need to pick him up. What size dog? I would turn my back and sit in a chair or bend down low. Drop treats behind you to encourage your dog to approach. Keep putting down treats as your dog gets closer. Let your dog come up beside you and then eats the treat from your hand. Don’t turn around, let your dog come around to face you. Try not to look at your dog as you feed him. Blink your eyes as you feed and scratch under your dogs chin. Try these suggestions, let me know how you are doing. I will also send a tip on picking up your dog in the next comment.

Hi John, to pick up your dog, I would also turn away from your dog, bend down low. Drop down treats . As your dog comes closer and is beside you, feed a treat and pet your dog on the side closest to you. If your dog is still eating, put your hand over top and then around the chest. Any time your dog stops eating take your hand away and try again later. The goal is to slowly be able to just lift the front legs off the ground as you feed lots of treats. In time start to lift his body and feed . I do not stand up until i can pick up the dog into my arms and feed as I am kneeling . Then bending low and finally as I stand up. Feed constantly as you pick up your dog and put dog back on the ground. Hope this helps. I am sure your dog is stressed for the change in routine. It will take time to adjust to your wife being gone. I would give lots of stuffed Kong’s. I just read he has not always done this. Maybe there is a physical reason for the behavior like a urinary problem that needs to be checked by a veterinarian. Thank you for your comment. The first part of the video was to describe how a fearful dog interprets our approach when we are not using correct approach. The second part was to show the correct way to approach a fearful dog. I should have made it clearer with text. Thank you. Joyce

I hope your dog is more comfortable with your husband. you could ask your husband to toss a yummy treat at your dog as he walks by. no eye contact. when your dog is following your husband for more treats, your husband can sit on the floor facing away from your dog. toss treats and no eye contact. when your dog approaches, scratch the dog under the chin, not petting over the head. hope his helps
