Oh my my, Chris. How sweet is that!! What a beauty. I love your aesthetic choice of wood, as well. I'm sure there going to be a new house rule, as well. "No, you can't take the ukulele to bed with you!!" Haha haha. 🤪 What a beauty my friend that I'm sure will give you a lifetime of musical delight!! Some day I'll have to show you my 4 x luthier handmade ukuleles. 2x tenors, 1x soprano, 1x baritone. I love them all. Enjoy!!!!!!

Now I watched the complete video and I must say that both of you put a lot of thoughts in this instrument. And it really turned out to be a beauty… in sound and in looks. Believe it or not, yesterday I already sent an email to Paolo to check out prices but now I would like to buy a uke from every instrument line he does. They all are really great but I never heard of him before you named him in an answer to a question I asked you on YT. Have a great time.

🎉Great!! I made an electric ukulele by a cigar-box a few years ago, but I it as a mere bizarre and left it unattended. But after listening to your wonderful sound of your uke, I would like to refine and play it again. I will post on instagla😊

beautiful little hatchet! there’s a couple things on it that are no no’s in my book, but they’re personal quibbles and have no bearing on anyone’s reality but my own. I too have just gotten a new ukulele and it falls outside my usual. it’s a wood bodied, concert sized, resonator ukulele. prior to this, except for the sopranino and the banjolele (which is concert scale length) all of mine are sopranos. OK, there’s the UBass, but that’s a whole other critter. for a variety of reasons, I’m happy I chose concert size for the reso. if nothing else, it’s shaking me out of my rut.
@G..G..

What are the no-no’s? Just curious.
@howlinhobbit
@howlinhobbit Жыл бұрын
@@G..G.. mainly the steel strings. as I said, they’re personal quibbles. it sounds lovely, just doesn’t sound like a ukulele to me. (also I have to keep one acrylic nail on my main strumming finger going because the _nylon_ strings on my ukes chew the hell out of it. imagine what steel strings would do.) the important part is that Christopher likes it and has been making pretty music on it.

lovely instrument! Sounds really good - a lot of electric ukes sound pretty anemic to my ears. Not this one.
@Banjoleletinman
@Banjoleletinman Жыл бұрын
Thanks! A lot of that is probably due to my amp set up. Plugged directly into an interface a magnetic pickup can sound pretty wimpy. I think amplification is a massive part of the sound but even direct in this thing is pretty beefy.
@matthewzin
@matthewzin Жыл бұрын
@@Banjoleletinman Agreed on the amplification. for acoustic instruments, I tend to prefer mic'ing. This sorta splits the difference. Super cool instrument though.

Fantastic - brilliant jazz sound, and looks lovely. You said you wanted it to handle similarly to your classic soprano - how differently do you find the steel strings feel to play?
@Banjoleletinman
@Banjoleletinman Жыл бұрын
Quite a bit different! With the right hand I'm stuck with mostly thumb work (Which I knew I would be going on; I get to live my Wes Montgomery dreams) so all my fancy strumming it out the window. Surprisingly with the left hand I'm finding myself having to lighten up my touch even more as little changes in pressure can make noticeable intonation differences on such light gauge steel strings. A fun learning curve as to how it likes to be treated as with any new instrument.

@Banjoleletinman
@Banjoleletinman Жыл бұрын
I happen to have them stuck in my head since I just ordered a few new sets :) both the G and A are .012, E .016, and the C is a flatwound .02. I found that the flatwound really helped balance out the set vs round which overpowered everything else.
