Cymbalta has changed my life. A year of the WORST anxiety and panic. I've never had any of that in my life. The heart palpitations were the worst part. Or not being able to go into a store, or just sleeping for a week. I lost my girlfriend, lost my high paying job. The Clonazepam wasn't working, the magnesium wasn't working. Finally I begged my new Dr to help me. That I couldn't take it anymore. Started cymbalta, 20mg for 2 weeks, then 60mg. I've been on 60mg now for a month. It's like I woke up one day and all the anxiety and heart palpitations were gone. So far 10 days now not a single symptom of anxiety. I feel alive again, and like myself. I'll take it forever if it means not ever feeling like I did for a year.

Dr put me on Cymbalta for post stroke pain. I had PAIN & STIFFNESS. Cymbalta helped with the pain (not stiffness). No side affects. I wanted to get off of it, because I was hearing bad stories. Cut from 60 to 30. No withdrawal symptoms. Only thing is is my pain came back with a VENGEANCE 😢 Upped it again. Hopefully I can find something for the STIFFNESS. I have tried about 6 different muscle relaxers, nothing has worked **sigh**

Thanks for this. I was put on Duloxetine and started last week. I took them for two days and it was as though I was in hell. Technically this is a " drug" but I actually felt like I was on drugs. I felt like I experienced every side effect listed. Soon after taking the first one, there went my appetite - completely. Stomach was upset, and through the day I got the brain fog. drowsiness came - little did I know what was to come. That night absolutely no sleep whatsoever - complete insomnia with a night filled with panic attacks and constant anxiety. I experienced the pins and needles and weird, weird feelings. No sleep and nausea, drained from the night - the next day I took the second one. Left work early that day as I was not well and tried to see my doctor. Couldn't get in. Went home and tried to sleep but constant anxiety surging through me. It was a sickening feeling. That night was hell. I broke out into a terrible fever - so awful. I was hot, but under blankets dying, and when I got up I was incredibly freezing. All the while feeling so sick, fragile, complete insomnia, panic attacks. I had pains all over, in my ribs etc that just did not feel right at all. As I said sickening feeling.. that next morning I was broken - absolutely scared to take that tablet again. Couldn't reach the doctor that prescribed these, but knew I needed a doctor asap. I didn't want to take them any more but you can't just stop taking these "cold Turkey." I went to my old family doctor and he said that drug is horrible and told me to stop taking it immediately. He said that drug can make you feel all kinds of horrible and weird things. That drug feels like poison. As if I wasn't hesitant enough to take medication, that drug.. wow.

Hi Kirsten, I completely understand what you went through and am so sorry you had to go through that! I'm so glad you went back to the drs so soon though - a lot of people feel that, because a dr said they will work, they carry on taking them in the hope they will get used to it but I wish i'd done what you did and gone back to the dr as soon as i had bad side effects! Hope you're doing ok now, i'm not on citalopram and really liking it!

i have had all your symptoms taking this AD but the insomnia was helped with sleeping tabs. i had no real choice in taking it as i was put on this drug for depression on psych ward.Every day was hell in a weird unusual place with other MH patients. After two wks i was allowed out as i was feeling a bit better, back into the hands of my wonderful partner.i continued to take it and things got better i wasnt feeling like ending it all etc etc.......but of course once i got better i stopped taking it( i had even started sleeping) so i tapered off i didnt find that the withdrawals were too bad....i was fine for a few months and then sleeless again.process starts again with dulox.....hell again for six weeks approx. My point is that it is hell taking this drug until it starts to work. When it eventually "works" it is alot better than feeling pure sleepless depression.

I am currently on my third week on cymbalta, 60mgs. For the most part, it has helped a lot. Anxiety is steadily declining, mood is generally improving, and quality of sleep is improving as well. Luckily, my only side effect is constipation, which is fine. It is still kicking in though, as every day I feel about 2% better than the last. However, I am aware that withdrawal will be a bad time. But I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. I’m gonna stay on cymbalta for the foreseeable future. I’d rather get over my crippling mental health issues and go through a horrible withdrawal than continue to want to kill myself every day, in the prime of my life...

I have been on Cymbalta, first I was on it for 4 years, 60mg; quit cold turkey... no withdrawal. One year later I started again and again I was on it for 4 years and quit cold turkey... no withdrawal at all. Overall I would say cymbalta was the best med I have tried... but we are all different... so. The only side-effect I had was euphoria after eating... sadly that went away

My doctor (for over 5 years) told me everything about cymbalta. All side effects, the plan of action etc. I was feeling drunk for 4 days and restless and had a dry mouth for a week with dilated pupils. After a week those effect were gone and it helped with my anxiety and depression after 3 or 4 weeks. When my therapie will be further I will get off it with a plan from my doctor. A good doctor is very important dealing with this kind of medication!

I still get pain but it's 80-90% less than before. But it wasnt just the medication that helped it was a lot of other stuff as well. (Meditation,weight control and psychotherapy, complementary treatment like massage and acupuncture etc, along with the medication played a huge part

I started cymbalta 30 mg six days ago. Like you, I didn’t do any research. I actually went to a neurologist because I feel like I’m loosing my memory. I shared with him that I’ve been depressed over a decade. I’ve never taken any medication for it. He actually didn’t do any sort of imaging of my brain. He just did a physical exam and wrote a prescription for cymbalta. I should have done research. I should have spoken up and insisted that he did imaging tests. I want to stop taking the medication because it’s making me jittery, numb, very sleepy, and has all but erased my appetite. I’m scared to quit cold turkey after watching this video.

Cymbalta has been a blessing for me. I have tried Zoloft, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac, Lamotrigine, Latuda, Wellbrutin, Pristiq, Effexor. and none of those helped me AT ALL. But then when my doctor put me on Cymbalta, it changed my life after 5-6 weeks of taking it for the better. I am no longer an anxious mess, I don't have any social anxiety anymore (it used to be crippling, I couldn't even leave the house), I don't have any depression anymore, no sad thoughts racing through my head, and my mood is STABLE.. I have BPD so my moods were all over the place, I would be sort of ok one minute and the next I would freak out, and be so irritable and emotional, and thats completely stopped. Its crazy how much this medication helped me. I take 60 mg cymbalta in the morning with food (I originally started at 30 mg and increased to 60 after 3 weeks) .. I experienced nausea at first, crazy dreams, insomnia, headaches, exhaustion. I still get pretty tired but I am ok with feeling tired if my mood is stable, and my anxiety /depression is gone.

Wow, thank you for sharing. I actually just started this medication and saw the side-effects, especially the withdraw symptoms. I, like you, suffer from anxiety and depression and am also a creative person. I’ve known for years that I’ve needed to be medicated and my previous medication I could never afford and my doctor only gave me sample packs. I am worried if I will never be able to be unmediated or what will happen to me should I ever be in a place in life where I want to start a family. So far I have seen some spikes in my mood since transitioning to the new drug (Cymbalta) but I am worried that I am too tired. I do not want to be sedated and I consider myself a creative person. It’s hard to be creative when depressed because everything feels like immense effort and your head is in a fog, but being tired all the time has the same effect. I want to stay on the medication for long enough to see if the tiredness will subside.

I haven’t had brain fog in months, I do have my bad days but that’s now usually due to lack of sleep or stress etc. And most importantly - I’m SO creative still! They haven’t numbed me at all - I would really really advise looking into citalopram! ❤️❤️❤️

Hey Jasper, so basically I decided to come off for a few reasons... I thought it was time to see if I still 'needed' to be on medication for one, then also when I missed some doses and felt the withdrawal symptoms it was a real eye opener for me, I just felt really scared that it had that effect on my body, and so I did some research and heard so many horror stories about side effects, in my gut I just felt I didn't want to be on that anymore if it could have such intense effects on my body in a bad way, so I guess the bad symptoms outweighed the good symptoms for me.... does that make any sense?! haha!

When you first start taking any antidepressant for the first two weeks, you experience the side effects first and then after two weeks they go away then slowly a couple more weeks you start to feel the therapeutic effects. It takes a week or two to get over the side effects that hit first…. but your body does adjust and they do go away. It is also very important to start off on a low dose and then slowly increase …after the side effects go away and you will experience side effects again with the slight increases - but not as bad and for not as long. more of something is not necessarily better. 100 mg of Cymbalta is not therapeutic. studies have shown anything over 60 mg of Cymbalta doesn’t affect any more than 60mg. That is the threshold. studies have shown that all you’re gonna get is more side effects. One should start with 20 or 30 and be on that for a couple weeks before you even consider increasing …because it takes a while before the therapeutic effects even take place Must give it time. That goes for any SSRI or SNRI

I’m not trying to dismiss this. My doctor did warn me about certain side effects and he also started me on lowest dose. When I was taking it irregularly it was insane but now that I started a schedule about a week ago, same time every day, the extent is some foggyness and being sleepy. I guess I’m just wanting to see how long foggyness and being sleepy last for other people but I’m not finding anything good. I was told it should only last for 2 weeks and it’ll take 6-8 weeks to take full affect. So far I like it overall. The first one I tried actually made me suicidal and the other one I tried made me extremely nauseous. Being in therapy helps balance thoughts though so that could be playing a role in this not being hell.

I was just prescribed cymbalta. My main question for everybody who suffers from side effects, how many of you guys always ate food before taking cymbalta? I'm curious to see if the lack of food is making the drug much more potent for people who are suffering from side effects.

I haven’t suffered any side effects actually (none that I notice, at least) and I’m on 60mg. It’s been about 1.5 months and I haven’t found it to be that helpful yet, but it hasn’t been harmful. Honestly, this video confuses me; she said it was working wonderfully for 2 years until she stopped taking them cold turkey and the withdrawal symptoms are what were the problem. Yeah, withdrawal symptoms are awful for a lot of drugs (Paxil’s were awful for me and it took me over half a year to get off them so slowly) but that doesn’t mean the drug itself can’t be beneficial. What’s your experience been?

@@izstrella I quit after taking it for a whole month. The "zaps" that the video refers to, I am guessing, is the same sensation that I got but much worse considering the extent of time she's been taking them. The "zaps" for me were very pleasurable, it was like a few seconds of euphoria and nostalgia just being rubbed on my brain like some massage oil, and it would go away. Almost orgasmic, but spontaneous and chronic. It was kind of difficult driving properly when it would just suddenly kick in like that. I'm off that stuff now though. The emotional suppressing quality was a bit too much for me. I was prescribed Adderall instead after a few more visits with my therapist. It has worked miracles for me in my adult life. I hope everything works out for you. Best of luck to you.

I've been dealing with chronic pain for 3 years now, which led to some really bad issues and the doctors were hopeless in my situation, the long waiting time for the pain clinic appointments is frustrating, especially if you are hoping that a certain procedure would be a life changer.. Hence why my GP being out of options wanted me to try this one however now I am a bit reluctant after doing some research about its side effects.

Hey Anna! This definitely isn’t something I’ve heard of before, I know plenty of people who’ve come off of antidepressants and are living wonderful happy lives! I think it’s common for the withdrawals to increase the feeling of depression for a while, and then of course there’s always the chance of the person not doing well off of meds - however that doesn’t mean that it was the taking of the meds in the first place that caused that... does that make any sense? 😝 basically, I’d do a little more research on this, it’s not something I’ve heard of before but I don’t know it all 🤓😋

Unfortunately these side effects are very common for most antidepressants. I was on it for 3 years and quit cold turkey in May 2020. I researched and bought vitamins and herbs to support the process. I didn’t taper off because the horror stories were bad no matter what so I figured I’d get them out of my system as soon as possible. The worst side effect was the brain zaps and the return of the pain. It also takes hardening your mind and just accepting that the side effects wouldn’t be very good. The pain was debilitating. I think by brain had a hyper reaction to it because the pain receptors had been suppressed for such a long time. I suffered from emotional flattening and had no sense of urgency on Cymbalta. I wanted off of them as quickly as possible. The irritation does wear off as your body gets used to being off of them. Quitting Cymbalta was the best decision I ever made, starting them was the worst.

How long did the withdrawal symptoms take
@jaeshasway
@jaeshasway 3 жыл бұрын
@@ytclappie8329 Not long to be honest. About 2 months maybe. But the side effects came in slow stages and not all at one time. I didn’t keep a diary, mostly because they were more annoying than debilitating. I had some nausea, sweating, difficulty sleeping, brain zaps, headaches, muscle, joint aches and pain. The physical pain returning with a vengeance was the worst of it. The brain zaps were super annoying. I was in bed for more than a weak and could barely walk when the pain returned seemingly out of nowhere. I’m convinced this drug numbs neural pathways to the point where your body forgets not just how to feel pain but how to manage pain. I’m managing the pain fine now with occasional Chiro treatments, Tylenol and motrin. It’s a trade off, but the side effects I had being on Cymbalta are far worse than being off of it. I had no sense of urgency about anything, I felt numb and emotionally flat. I had issues with sleep, memory, focus, and concentration.Had trouble focusing on anything and staying motivated. I had 2 shades in my emotions, black or white, no color and no shades of grey. I guess the plus is that it didn’t effect my appetite like many antidepressants so my weight stayed normal.

Cymbalta generic Duxloxetine for me, helped with MDD, GAD, FIBRO, Cervical/spinal stenosis. 60 mg for almost 2 years. In 4 days my anxiety was gone on 30 mg. I made the mistake to start in the evening and yes, I couldn't sleep. So, in the AM first thing. This medication has side effects. For me Bruxism (teeth grinding). I split 1 tooth and 2 molars. Use a mouth guard. I was doing invisalign and that stopped me ruining my perfect teeth. Vit. B 12 depletion. You have to take this immediately with Cymbalta or you will be exhausted. I could have been ok with just 30mg Duloxetine. I had zaps only because I ran out. For me it has helped me get back to work with 24/7 chronic pain with Fibro and stenosis. It is hit and miss because everyone's chemistry is different. I am not working now and will go back on them when I do go back.

I wish I made some research too! I must say, back then I just read about this nightmare on some forum from Germany (where I live)...I still thought it must be me beeing weak or not doing it right. I´m realising now how many people in the world have been through this! Sorry if it sounds scary, but the worst part for me was the last step: from 2-3mg (if I remember right!) to 0. It took months! The doctor had no clue how hard it would be. He just apologized and gave me the next pill. I am still disgusted.

Thank you SO much for your comment - it's both soothing and terrifying knowing that so many other people have been through this. I agree, the doctors were SO sure there would be no side effects or withdrawal. Disgusted is definitely the word... so many of our fellow mental health warriors will be going through this same thing right now :(

suzi _ hi! Thank you so much for commenting, and for doing your research - it’s so important! So it can take around 7 weeks for meds to properly kick in, perhaps wait a little longer and see? Or are you having any bad side effects? So I tapered off in the end by taking the beads out one by one (it was a very very long process!) are yours pills or are they in capsules? I’m now on citalopram and have been for a few years and it’s amazing - I have a video on it that I filmed a year ago!

You could play Barbra with eyes like that! Try a hello Dolly costume on and learn to lip sync and make some money singing Birthdays, Parties, etc. on the side. I think you’re lovely 😊 and I mean that in a truly respectable way. That hair color is PERFECT for your coloring too. Just a side note: when I was young I felt emotionally lost and empty and alone at times. I needed healthy friends and mentors. It was easier for me to go on meds. But I wasn’t messed up or faulty as much as young and unsure or bold and careless. It was difficult to moderate what was going on, BECAUSE I was young. You don’t have to have it all together. Stay away from bad influences and enjoy little ways that make you happy nd emotionally steady. Read the Bible, visit your elders, and pets and safe friends. Avoid extremes.you will be okay. Half or one benedryl tablet will stop a panic attack in its tracks. Coffee with sugar will give you courage and confidence in a pinch. You don’t need Pharma. You’re okay

An important reminder for anyone starting an antidepressant is to take the medication as prescribed. Unless I’m misunderstanding, your symptoms were a result of missing doses and not tapering off the medication correctly. I empathize with your struggle of course. Maybe more awareness is needed as to how important it is to be consistent when taking antidepressants because even missing just one dose can result in some of the symptoms you described in this video.

Hi George! I really hope it's better for you with this new pill, however if your depression hasn't changed at all perhaps you could try non-medicated things to help? Maybe a new exercise regime, start some yoga or mindfulness, look at your diet etc! if these things don't work perhaps it's time to try another pill that could help both your anxiety and depression? carla xxx

Cathryn Salladin hey! Although I wasn’t physically sick, I had a huge amount of other side effects - every persons experience is totally different though! Just if you’re really worried, don’t take it and ask the doctor to prescribe you something else that generally has less side effects, or if you want to keep taking it, just keep a real eye on yourself and take good care of yourself!! ❤️

I just started Duloxetine for the second time. My experience has been identical to yours. My doctor told me they were not addictive and there were no side-effects when stopping. The first time, I stopped cold turkey, and basically hunkered down in my bedroom for a week of pure and utter hell. Sweats, headaches, body-aches, brain-zaps, incredible brain-fog, dizziness, nausea, etc. I had to start again since my depression has returned. I really don't want to be on this drug. I looked at several one line complaints about this med and your video sealed the deal if I should take it or not. I am not going to take this medication. I only found one video stating how this drug has helped them and the rest say NO NO NO! So know that your video has helped someone. Thanks for you post and my God bless you many many times over. I’ve been offered Duloxetine multiple times by the NHS for my pain condition and it’s reviews like this that put me off. I had a very similar situation with Paroxetine (another SSRI). My existence was like the scene in Trainspotting with the baby on the ceiling. It was horrific. Brain zaps like crazy Flu type symptoms early on Emotional rollercoaster Mental fog Increased suicidal thoughts On edge Unpleasant dreams Yawning Farting like a beast Increased anxiety I seem to have a negative reaction to many of them.
