My one tip based on my experience is that titanium jewelry is the best for cartilage piercings because you will not have an allergic reaction to titanium. It's not much more expensive, but it definitely helps ensure that you're healing will be a lot smoother

You're absolutely right. I have an immunological disorder and I have difficulties with my skin all the time. I also get swollen easily. I was still obsessed with getting a piercing and went to a very good professional. She told me that if I was so determined to get piercings I should only get one at a time and only use titanium jewelry. I have gotten 3 since then (one of them is the daith) and -it sounds crazy- I haven't had any problems. The daith didn't get swollen, red, or hurt at all after she put the jewel there. The other two were additions to my lobes and those got swollen and kept hurting for just 2 hours. After that, nothing. I clean them twice a day and they're healing perfectly. In contrast, a cousin who hasn't had any skin issues and is very healthy has gotten a few piercings as well and a couple are still sensitive and get a little irritated once in a while. She used surgical steel and gold. Very surprising.

I have 8 piercings in total and from 3 different piercers. I have never heard any of them saying to wash it with gentle soap and I don't recommend it either. Because it increases the risk of infection. I only ever spray it with sea salt spray that I get from my piercer, as the salt kills off bacteria. None of mine have ever gotten infected at all. Also don't suggest going to a place that does it by gun, because it is more damaging for your ear and can get infected easier, as guns are harder to sterilize compared to needles. Definitely go into the appointment knowing what side you sleep on more, because any fresh piercing will be a little painful when being slept on. Also keep in mind the healing time for the piercings if you do plan on getting it on a side you sleep on (so you can get the shorter healing time one one that ear). Getting a few piercings that are close to each other done on the same day will increase the pain you feel per stud/bar/ring, because your body weakens after each one and becomes more susceptible to pain. ps. if wanting to get a ring on the lobe or helix, i'd suggest from personal experience to get a normal lobe done with a stud first and after it has healed to then swap the stud out for a ring. As healing with a ring is MUCH more painful and gets irritated easier as rings tend to move around a lot, especially if slept on. After your ear is healed getting the ring on and sleeping on it will hurt only a little or not hurt at all.

My second piercing took over a year to heal. I cleaned it twice a day with salt water and had gold studs. The doctors said that my body rejected the piercing so that's why it took so long to heal. Just take that into consideration if you are planning on getting a piercing 😊

My second lobe piercings took forever to heal! I kept hearing they were a breeze and that it wouldn't be an issue but that wasn't the case. I don't think my after care was enough though so it was likely my fault. I wanted more ear piercings but now I am rethinking things lol. I feel like the pain is momentary but the healing process can kind of suck.

Literally me. It look this long as well! I was so confused because I usually heal quickly too. So weird...glad to know I'm not alone haha. The girl who pierced my ears said to soak a cotton pad/ball in a sea salt and water mixture and compress gently over the piercing for 10 minutes each day. She suggested you do this for 4 weeks if a lobe and 6 if cartilage.

Piercings should always be done with a needle, the gun causes too much trauma! Also, salt solution/water is usually recommended for after care, im not sure why you weren't advised that initially. They look gorgeous, you're right about certain jewellery feeling more you, all mine are silver or black. I have 4 in one lobe and 2 in the other lobe along with my tragus. Totally recommend the tragus piercing, didn't hurt at all and looks 😍 Love this video xx

In India, it's a norm to get your lobe pierced at a young age. So you don't remember the healing process. I remember when mine were pierced. It felt sharp at first and then my child brain completely forgot about it. It didn't bother me. My Mamma would take care of the healing process so it was super simple!

I love your arrangement of piercings! I've got first and second lobe piercings in both ears, then a tragus in the right ear. When I get my tragus done last year my piercer recommended salt water rinses twice a day and if any problems come up, camomile tea! Apparently it helps inflammation and stuff, and it was a life saver 👏🏻highly recommend to anyone having trouble with a piercing!

I agree, I like the needle piercing better Vs the gun! This has actually really wanted me to get my cartilage area pierced again! I got it pierced with a ring and tried to switch it out for a stud by myself because it was irritated and it hurt so bad I ended up just taking it out all together. Thanks for the soaking salt tip! I'll have to grab some of that when I get it done again!! The Etsy link wasn't working for me... is it just me or...?

Completely agree with the advice about getting a stud instead of a ring. I just got my first helix peircing and the ring catches on everything! It gets caught in my hair, my brush, and my finger occasionally catches it. It's been almost a month now and it's not as painful but still a nuisance. Go for a stud at first lol!

People need to remember piercings feel different for everyone. We all have varying pain tolerance. Example my high lobe was a 1. Didn't hurt, just pressure, which felt satisfying. And that was right after my septum which was a 4. Guns are also not recommended by quality piercers due to trauma and healing issues 😞 Its a shame your piercer did not automatically recommend salt soaks or a saline solution... very odd. Clearly would have saved you some pain!

For my helix piercings I add 1 tsp of sea salt to a 16 oz bottle of water, then take a cotton pad (like the kind for removing makeup) and soak it in the saline then wrap it around my ear and let it soak for a few minutes. 2 or 3 times a day had helped it really calm down from a few ugly bumps that had popped up. This really helped for my conch too.

I really liked this video, especially I liked your earrings. You have such beautiful, small ears, and your holes in the earlobes are pierced so beautifully that any earrings look fucking good in them. The second hole in your right ear lobe he pierced very far, now you need to pierce the third hole between them, then your right ear will look very beautiful.

I've got my conch, snug, rook, helix, tragus, earlobes done twice and nose pierce. I definitely agree with Kayley about sticking with a stud for the initial piercing - rings move too much and invite infection into the piercing. It's the same reason with a stud they tell you not to turn it. Second piece of advice is be prepared for varied healing times. My conch was a pain in the butt to heal. It was gross and nasty for three whole months before I saw any improvement and wasn't fully healed until 6 months or more I'd say. It's perfect now and so worth it, but it does take time. And it can be icky/painful during the healing process. My sister ended up getting frustrated with the healing process and taking all her piercings out just weeks/months after they were done.

Right on time! I have been thinking about getting more piercings on my ears, especially the high lobe ones, they're so cute. But I'm also very scared because I remember my first piercing with a gun and it hurt so bad, plus I got a complication with my piercings after because I didn't know I was allergic to nickel! So that sucked. However, more than 20 years have passed and maybe things are different now. I'm glad to know what are the options today and what you can do to minimize the pain and trauma. I heard from a friend of mine who recently got her ears pierced that they applied some numbing agent onto the site first, and that she didn't feel anything at all! Also, I want to point out to anyone who are thinking of getting piercings, be sure of find out what kind of material your stud/ring is, because it'll end badly if you're like me and you're allergic to nickel. I also saw from another video that another better place to get these piercings are tattoo artists - not from the mall. They're professionally trained, keeps everything hygienic and more likely have high quality earrings you can put in. That's it. Thanks for the video, Kayley. It's very informative, especially about the salt bath. :)

Nancy Xu I got my first piercing on my lobes when I was 9. I got them at Claire's and I was really happy 😊 it doesn't really hurt it just burns a little, like someone was holding a lighted match close to you're ear. Then, I got this cleaning things and she put some on my ear and it felt like the piece was gone. It really doesn't hurt that much... I remember my exact words being, " Whem are you gonna do it...? Wait you did it? THATS IT?!" Also a lobe piece would hurt a lot less then say a hand pierce because there isn't really a bone. ALSO...( sorry it's so long) make sure you where gold earring so it's less likely to get an infection . I wore gold earrings for about 3-4 weeks I think before changing them and when you do I recommend sterling silver earrings but try to keep in the gold ones for as long as possible. Lastly, it could get infected. Heres how I tested my ear for infections. Okay so obviously it will hurt if you press down on your ear. But after about let's say 2-4 weeks it shouldn't hurt if you press down REALLY lightly, don't like just tap it but push down a TINY bit... if it hurts then ask you're mom/dad to see if there's any infection.. but it might not be... some people heal faster then others so for you it might just still be sensitive/ healing. Plus the person who pierces your ears will tell you what to do... that's just what I did. Oh and one more thing........ CLEAN YOUR EARS WITH THE CLEANSER. They'll give you some cleanser and make sure to clean your ears with it 2-3 times a day unless told otherwise. That's it I guess. At least that's all I can think of... it's like 2:30 am and I'm tired... I'll let you know if I think of anything else. BYEEEEEEEE and sorry it was long it's not as hard as I made it seem I promise...

But don't go in expecting NO PAIN... if you expect no pain then you'll be surprised and it'll be painful... but it's not really painful... also I used a gun so if you have a phobia of needles then I'd go with a gun. And it sound scary when you say "gun" but it's not. Also if you have any squishys or something that helps... lastly (again 😂) I Torture youuuu, take my hand through the flames... I torture youuuu, I'm a slave to your game IM JUST A SUCKER FOR PAIN! I'm sorry I had to I love that song

I have a Rook, Inner Conch, Helix, two High Lobes, two normal Lobes, a Septum and a Labret. Tbh I can't remember which one was the most painful because everyone is at least 4 years old except for my Labret. But it was one on my ear. Never had any troubles. And the best way to clean them was saltwater. I hope I get some more this fall :D

I have both the conch and tragus piercings. They are awesome. The only thing about my conch is that it took FOREVER to heal. It really sucked actually and unfortunately with mine I had blowout scarring. meaning that it looks like a boxers ear on the back around my piercing. My tragus easy peasy no problems what so ever. I also did four piercings at once :)

I love piercings 💜 I dont have a lot. only 6 in right ear and 4 in left lol. Plus more around the body. The most painful one was the nose, I think. My advice is, ask the piercer to put the scissors type forceps tighter than normally he would do around the area you want to be pierced. Second one use pure gold earrings! If you can! Definitely don't use fake ones. Gold have ability to heal quicker. And you might think it is silly but use a professional piercer do a back ground check on him/her properly check the person and the studio you might be surprised how many diseases you can catch by doing a silly piercing but also you might end up with a wonky piercing. Ohh last one, ask if the piercer have got cold spray they can use on the area, not many do but you never know :) good luck 💜

Donut pillows are your best friend when you've had your ears pierced! My cartilage ones, double helix, industrial and daith, took such a long time to heal and all of them got infected to various degrees and some multiple times. I definitely think sleeping on them made them more prone to infection because I was really careful about cleaning them the right amount, especially after learning from my first one, so my little home made donut was such a help. Some things I learnt are that over cleaning can be bad too, if it gets infected and salt water isn't working tea tree oil can be helpful but use with caution, it will itch while its healing and that doesn't necessarily mean it's infected, mine were more itchy when they weren't infected actually, and finally I agree that rings take longer to heal. Everyone's experience will be different of course because we don't all react the same way and I am by no means an expert, this is just what I've found to be true in my case.

I got my upper lobe pierced last year. I expected it to be just like a regular line piercing and it defiantly was not. I could not sleep on that side for around 4 months. It was so painful especially the first few weeks. I even had a stud right from the start. Last month I got my cartilage pierced and expected the same thing or worse because of the placement, the cartilage didn't hurt even half as bad as my upper lobe I was so surprised. I have a feeling the upper lobe is maybe a more sensitive spot, which I and most other definitely don't expect.

I've always loved fun ear piercings on other people but am super chicken about getting it myself. 😂I just have one lobe on each ear when I was 13. Almost fainted. I don't do well with needles 😂 Maybe I'll get a second lobe if I'm feeling courageous.

My high lobe piercing was the worst to heal ever, it hurt so much I couldn't even let my hair touch it. But then I switched it from a straight earring with a normal back to a labret stud on the advice of a piercer when I was thinking about getting an industrial done (he advised against it because of how much trouble I had with my high lobe since it would be two at once and harder to heal) but the labret stud has a flat back and is the best thing I ever did. I am planning on getting a tiny ring silver ring for it soon but that's because it's completely healed.

Hi, about a month and little something ago I had done two helix piercing. It was made by gun so it was super quick and the lady have a few years experience so I wasn't afraid. And as you said, I accepted it will hurt a little and it was fine. I clean it with alcohol at least 60% to kill the bacteria and then some healing cream. I knew I wanted a rings but because it was made by gun I had studs in it. So glad! :D After a 4 weeks I decided to put the rings in. It wasn't healed on 100% but I didn't mind. Well if I put there studs it would be ok, but the rings are just hell.. when I finally got it in the hole I had to twist it and that was a pain. Also recommend getting bigger rings than you want because when you have a smaller ring even a hair smaller than you would need it's pain to get in the ear, mainly because the skin fold. I have now two rings and thinking about one getting a bit smaller. I like your piercings! I wish I found some nice pieces in my city but I'm not having a big hopes. I could have a nice jewellery but I don't want to take it out my ear whenever I have to go in water.
