What makes Ohtani the best player in the world is being an elite pitcher and hitter. Take the pitching away and he’s just a really good DH, we shouldn’t be calling him the best in the world unless he’s putting up Judge numbers but even he’s playing the field too

@allthingssports4575 Defensive stats are unreliable anyway when talking about good fielders...honestly, only the eye test should matter For example: Mookie has the same dWar as BWjr...but Mookie Betts ranks dead last in OAA with -7 compared to Witt leading MLB with 10 Our defensive stats these days are just bad, no need to argue anymore cause it'll just be eye-test vs eye-test and I doubt either of us have seen every play by all SS we are talking about

Agree with most of these. None of the AL second baseman have had particularly dominant performances, but if you look at WAR, Semien leads the group by a fair bit. Makes sense with his defense, and his OPS isn’t that much lower so I went with him. I also think right now Ortiz edges out Bohm, but that’s a judgement call. Other than that, decent ballot. I always wish they showed a few other stats, especially how many games have been played. That would provide some helpful context.

I'd say Bobby Witt over Gunnar but that's such a hard choice, both are amazing. Kansas City and Baltimore both have locked down some crazy young talent in this position (in fairness Baltimore has many, many positions full of young talent)

What’s crazy is choosing Kyle Tucker over Steven Kwan. Saying Kwan has been “injured” so you don’t think you should choose him but then choose Kyle Tucker because he “may be back” just before All-Star break. Love that you picked Ramirez and Fry and they both deserve it. But I do think Kwan deserves it more than Tucker

I also would’ve selected J-Ram over Devers. Though I found it funny that you completely glossed over the best third baseman in the AL without even mentioning his name (Royce Lewis). Sure, he’s been injured. But an All-Star vote needn’t hinge entirely on a player’s summed performance from season start up until that point. If that were the case, then you’d always just be selecting a team of guys who peak in April/May.
