I’m a teenager and really considering getting a walking stick for fatigue, as well as dizziness and seizures when standing or walking for too long but can’t get over the guilt and imposter syndrome. Thank you so much for this video, because I’ve been eyeing up the exactly same one and think I’ll take the leap and get one (if I can confront my parents)

By your description you seem like you do need it and that it would be very beneficial to you. If you feel you need it than get it, and don't focus on how you think people will perceive you, they're not you, and your reason for using a mobility aid is no one else's business but your own. Best wishes to you.

My left arm is just the same! 😂 I’m the same as you with imposter syndrome and I’m a lot older! I wish I’d have accepted I needed mobilities aids when I was a lot younger and seen them as enabling. I’m finally reaching that point now and finding it very freeing! ❤️ xXx

I BADLY dislocated my knee when i was 18 and had to get a walking stick. i still have a bad knee and sometimes when it acts up i need to bring out my old stick so i don't put too much pressure on it, it's really cool to see a stick that i find beautiful since mine is just a cheap adjustable one from a drugstore. I think sometimes i use it less just cause i don't like how it looks but i feel kinda inspired to get one i find more pretty so i can feel comfortable using it out and about.

Thank you for these videos. I'm so nervous of getting a walking stick but I know it's going to help me so much. I've been putting this off for years literally but I have a desire to be more social and the only way I can do that is if I have support away from home like a cane or crutches or something.

How about trying a wooden one? They are quite affordable on Amazon. You can get spare Ferrules on there as well. Scratches and other wear and tear won't matter on the wooden ones. It's character for them 😊

As an older person 53 as I mentioned once,I haven't used a cane in public yet. I think you look at this very maturely for your age,if a cane helps you use it please..I just never needed one, till this job. I am going to change that but I have a big thick strong irish blackthorn walking stick, cause its pretty cool and I have a antique Ebony Chinese dragon cane because Im mostly Scandinavian. So I have my dragon cane, take care..

Very good video. Thank you for doing this. My wife also has me/CFS and wants me to thank you. Also, for here it is also important to have a good looking stick, do you don't feel lika retired. Also the stick helps here remembering to slow down, do the pacing and save the energy.

I've been considering using a cane recently due to my near fainting spells, muscle spasticity, back pain trauma and mild hypermobility. I felt like I've been overreacting and that i don't really need help, but my physical condition has been making it hard for me to work recently as i work in food service and I'm constantly on my feet and bending and lifting. I watched this video years ago and it's crazy to come back after being diagnosed and learning about the existence of these conditions because i was gaslighting myself into believing that i was ok when really it is the opposite and i have gotten worst over the years because I thought that mobility aids were not for me, but seeing more young people use mobility aids and talk about being disabled has made me so much more comfortable and even consider buying a cane!

Hi Elinor I just come across your you tube channel and saw that lovely walking stick! Did you know the same company do a folding version? It unscrews into sections & each section is a different colour! I am DeafBlind,I have some hearing & sight! But a month or so ago my sight got worse & I could see very little when I went out at night or in poor light so it was suggested I get a red/white long blind persons cane with a roller tip! So I finally gave in & bought one and gave it a try when out! I felt a fraud I had some sight & could even look at my mobile phone with Full zoom! So imaging walking along with this massive cane in front of me sweeping from side to side! Plus having an elbow crutch on the other arm! I am also a catheter & leg bag user but unlike like you I am not a young person! But you did the right thing if this your life at least for now why not show how sexy you are your stick are! So hopefully others will now do the same! 💗💗💗

I'm getting one. I'm a little nervous to use it but I don't want to get hurt. I have anxiety and people judging me will make it worse but what can I do. I lose my balance and tip over. I was going to get a service dog but I thought it over and I'm just going to get a cane. I also get dizzy. I can't be on my feet for long.

@@kissme4492 I got mine (not from NeoWalk) on “walking sticks U.K.” as I need a folding one for my needs I got a Disney hand strap as I’m short and no “fun” patterns come in my size only black and the weird medical silver. I’m still scared to use it in public because of my internalized ableism. As I can “walk fine” without it (well with pain lol). How did u get past that?
