Thanks for the video, I found it useful when doing an air box repair on my G.M. I found it useful to thread a small spring onto the airbox screws then stretch the non threaded part of the spring into a long wire then run the wire through the holes in the airbox where the screws need to go. This way they kind of self guide and make it way easier for 1 person.

Hi Robert thanks so much. I have a question I hope you can answer. My Grand Marquis only blows hot air. A/C system works fine and the heater core doesnt leak. It looks like a door or something is stuck, since it doesnt respond to lowering the temperature. You would assume the actuator is the problem, but I dont hear the clicking sound it makes when it is broke. So my question is: how many doors does the actuator actually move?? is there only ONE door? or more

It needs a battery and at least a fuel pump, things in rough shape but I have full intentions of putting it back on the road again some day. It's the first car I ever bought so it's very sentimental to me. If I ever won the powerball, I'm contacting Ford about restoring the mechanicals of it and leaving the body the mess that it is.
@tompastian3447
@tompastian3447 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. I watched your video, to see what is involved. I have a 2004 Marquis, and only notice one hose going into the fire wall. Not sure where they put the other hose at on the 04 Marquis. I will probably take the car to an AC place I know, who specializes in auto A/C, and let him do it. I smell something and assume it's radiator fluid burning. The radiator was more than a gallon low on fluid when I checked it today. I see no water on the floor or dripping anywhere . The floor is not wet. Since I'm losing water somewhere, and see steam or smoke coming from around the fan casing, I assume it may be a heater core, maybe a hole at the top somewhere ? Ford dealer doesn't carry the core any more, so they refused to work on the problem. I really have no other choice but to take it to an AC place. One tip on the Crown Vics and Marquis... if you ever have a situation where you've changed plugs and coils, and still have the engine light come back on, and notice the car seems to be misfiring, then find a Ford dealer who will reprogram the main computer. I tried 6 Ford Dealers in Miami, and finally found the seventh one I tried, who will reprogram the main computer. If I had found that dealer from the start, it would have saved me about 900 dollars in needless repairs and parts that other mechanics thought was the problem. Watch Black Conservative Patriot on youtube. Great news

It's a very sad commentary on Ford for making this so damned hard. They did a similar thing for the Taurus, but it sounds like this is even harder. Which is ridiculous as heater cores are an "eventual fail" item. They build them just well enough to get them through the new car warranty... After that, Ford doesn't care.

@@thelostsoul5531 The Taurus is a giant pain in the ass, but it's only 6 bolts. Two in each door jamb and two under the dash to lower the steering column. Then the ENTIRE dash can be pulled away (about 10 inches) from the windshield to access everything. I did one a few years ago that only took me about 30 minutes. But, still, a giant pain in the ass. Who wants to remove the entire dash just for a heater core.

I know it’s a late reply but. No need to buy a hose. My car blew a heater core on a road trip. Leaked coolant all over my front passenger floor. You can just disconnect both hoses from the heater core. And take out the return hose all together then bend the inlet hose to the heater core in such a way to where it connects to the intake manifold connection. That the other hose went into. It’s on the back of the intake. Then use the clamp they had on the hose you removed all together to connect the inlet hose. I had to disconnect the 2 nuts from that piece that’s connected to the module directly above where the hoses should go into the heater core. Move the module out the way for my to fish the line to the connection on the intake. Hope that makes sense

@@RobertDIY I'm talking About after u got the down into the end of the socket then put the tape over them I mean u can pop a easy hole throw the tape and with the bolts its already got the hole popped through the tape plus it holds what ur trying to put back ready sturdy so u can take this and put ur own fling to things I'm a old country boy that's had to always use what i got or take some torches and weilders and make my own specialty tools before trust me after around 30 some years of trial and error u learn to find the easy way fr fr but i have always been told there isn't no such thing as a wrong qes the only time ur in the wrong is when u let pride get invold and act like u know it all them are the ones to fuck some one ride up fast cause u can't tell there slow in the head know it all ass's just saying so stay open minded and listen to a man with a little gray over there ears u will be amazed on what all u can learn fr fr but no such thing as a wrong qes just a wrong attempt with out asking if u ant never replaced something before just cause it looks easy doesnt mean it is fr fr trust me ..lol

Wow! 😳 So it is somehow our/my fault that the car is not running after YOU possibly did something wrong? It's really simple... Tow It! That's right, another option is to junk it. That's what we do when we FAIL to fix a car. Tow it to someone who can fix it or junk it and replace it. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Dan. Its all your fault. You know your not the brightest crayon in the box. Why did you attempt to do a job like this when changing oil is hard for you? It's your fault your silly, deft, etc. You messed up the car. Not a video. You. Only you. Your to blame. Now take dash back out and plug everything in and start car. Silly old guy.
