Check out the Milwaukee SWITCH TANK at Ohio Power Tool: www.ohiopowertool.com/p-20537...
The Milwaukee M18 Switch Tank 4 Gallon Backpack Sprayer is designed for the user who changes chemicals often. A dedicated gardener, farmer or professional landscape crew will reap the benefits of storing chemicals in different tanks and quickly putting them on the power base and heading out spraying. Cross-contamination of chemicals is hard to avoid with a single sprayer and this was one of the main points Milwaukee Tool aimed to solve. The Pump, Hose, and Wand are separated from the power base so when a tank is changed there is no chance of contamination.
The battery-powered backpack sprayer sustains a constant pressure in each of the 5-modes allowing pressure to be adjusted from 20 to 120 psi with 0.10 to 0.51 gallons per minute. The 5-mode pressure adjustment dial can be reached while the backpack is being worn, although knowing what level you are in cannot be seen. The handle of the wand and trigger are plastic with a metal sprayer extension and brass adjustable tip. The wand has a trigger lock to help with larger spraying projects where one would want the trigger pulled at all times.
The 4 Gal. Sprayer Tank Assembly has a dual diaphragm pump and chemical resistant seals. There is a strainer in the wide mouth of the tank to stop debris from entering the tank. The tanks connect to the base with two hooks on the top of the tank and two tension levers front and back. Changing a tank takes less than 30-seconds.
The Milwaukee Tool Switch Tank is comfortable to wear with the wide straps. The motor system and straps weigh in at 17 pounds. Add in a small battery, the tank and wand and 4-gallons of water and you are cresting 50 pounds. This feels very normal to us as we are used to carrying a 5-gallon manual sprayer. For some, this is a lot of added weight. To be completely comfortable, make sure to adjust the straps so the weight is carried against your back and not hanging off on an angle backward. Incorrect adjustments can make this tank and any other backpack tank uncomfortable.
While in use, the sprayer maintains a good constant pressure. We found the adjustments to be very precise and user-friendly. Some of the levels may not work for everyone. Level 5 is great for spraying fruit trees and long distances, but won't work well for spot spraying weeds. Adjust the tip and the pressure to your needs. Near the end of the tank, the user will have to move the fluid around to try to empty the tank. With some moving, or dancing, you can get the tank down to about 6 ounces left. If you do not dance at the end, it will leave about a 1/4 gallon left that can be drained through the plug in the bottom of the tanks.
Battery life was excellent. The battery compartment can hold the 12.0 Ah battery but it is not needed and would just be extra weight. We found that one can spray 15 gallons of chemical per amp-hour of battery. For many, a small and lightweight compact battery will be all that is needed. Milwaukee states that this will spray 25 feet and it will come very close. If you are spraying in an upward direction, expect the spray to shoot about 10 feet beyond the wand tip.
Overall this backpack sprayer is a game changer for professionals or others who are in need of changing chemicals quickly without the worry of cross contamination. Pricing shows this is a pro tool with a bare sprayer priced at $299. You can get the kit with a 3.0 Ah battery and charger for $399. It is obviously not worth getting the kit unless you need a battery as a 3.0 Ah battery is an older style. Extra tanks are currently $149 each. For the person who will use it, this will well worth it.

It has amazing PSI to help clean and force the grim out. It built well . I did call Milwaukee to ask if it could handle coil cleaners and they did respond w stating they had not tested this w HVAC chemicals . Hit I'm having no issues

I'm wondering if they can have a longer hose and shorten the wand for the purposes of rendering. As the water model for wet machines having a fine mist spray will be handy for plastering application when you want the machine away from your work area. For years I wanted a cordless tank instead of pumping up a pressure tank. Plasterers normally have the hose booked and then the plumber will turn around and say we will not have water for a few hours. What will you do then? I have a Bosch pressure tank for water. I put a 5 metre hose and it works well. The only thing you spend time pumping up to put pressure. Been cordless all you need to do it fill up the water tank and away you go. You can also set up and have showers whilst camping. Find some warm water. Oh, make sure it's not a herbicide tank when you want to wash.

I agree. You definitely pay for convenience. If the tanks came in at a price point of $99 instead I could see buying into the system. I got to try one out that my friend had and the only thing I'm disappointed with is how much was left in the tank. My cheap hand pump sprayers maybe leave 1oz if that in the bottom and the backpack pump is the same. It would be nice to see a redesign of the tank to use up all the mixture in the tank. In theory if you had all the tanks you needed it wouldn't matter if a few ounces of one mix is left over if you're making more of it in the future. But without an unlimited checkbook or sponsorship, most of are going to re-use the pesticide tank for multiple different solutions/products and clean out inbetween.

Great Review Your channel helps me a ton deciding on what power tools to invest in. My business sprays Herbicides & I would not justify that price. Those sprayers don't last very long year over year. Definitely a product for the "Pro-sumer" market. I'm sure the quality is Milwaukee but looks like it may be more for Rhinestone Cowboys more than actual Ranchers/Workers(some are cheaper than others) I know old timers with hundreds of Acres & would pop a blood vessel if you tried to sell them a backpack sprayer for $300 & also some with 10 Acres who would pay out the nose to maintain their "Ranch" with the best the market offers. Not trying to knock it, but I can't imagine it does the job better than a cheaper alternative enough to justify the Milwaukee premium. Sure would be nice to have the whole Milwaukee line though, make no mistake!!

But they all burn out eventually when you use them constantly & need to replace the pump every few years, I'm told(mine is going on 2 years of heavy use). For backpacks I try everything avaliable under $150(cheap ones do the same thing as expensive ones but break faster, expensive ones have better quality metal nozzle better plastic/pump ect. but still usually have some issue after a few months in my experience). I have never had luck with the ATV models. All have been either FIMCO or a similar brand and they will all fluctuate in pressure and GPM after a short time of use. I ditched those and went to a PTO driven pump for larger use. The small all in one electric diaphragm pumps suck from my experience. My Stihl backpack sprayer has rocked and it is model SG 20. It holds pressure but has a lot of plastic. It is used weekly in the summer for weeds. I have seen the Solo stuff at TSC and they too are a lot of plastic. We farm pumpkins and we spray a lot. I have found that in order for something to work long term, I need to invest $$. Otherwise, we end up driving to replace it at the worst time possible. I own John Deere and Case Equipment for field use.

@@WorkshopAddict 100% Quality is always the way to go. But there is always a nicer more expensive product. Solo is what I was rec'd & seems good but I'm sure there are better products. Sometimes the best tool for the job is not the most expensive( exp. I have a Ryobi P516 that does rough dirty work like cutting out roots/stumps @ ground level to then spray with Garlon, work I would never put a $500 sawzall through due to the sheer abuse it takes) I keep an extra pump on hand in case of an emergency failure. I sometimes work out in the middle of the Colorado mountains like 20 miles down some random trail @ 10k elevation & would lose a whole day(up to $1000) if I had to go to a store/shop to fix a failure. Will look into the brands you mentioned, always looking for upgrades. Thanks man!

Can you store pesticides or weed killer etc in the tanks? I often don't need very much to do a few touch ups on the lawn, but since I buy agricultural grade products, you often have to mix a tiny amount just to get a gallon. It would be awesome to mix up a full batch (4 gallons) and just leave it in and use when i need it. I find that I put off spraying for months because I don't want to go mess with mixing stuff. Wondering if storing stuff in here for a whole summer would destroy the tanks or if they are meant to do that.

I actually pre ordered the bare tool and tank when it was available. Lol I'm using it with a 1.5 ah bat. Haven't used it long enough, but I think during regular use I'll use 1 bar per 8-10 gal with the fan tip. I wanna say it's my fav of the 2 tips since it spreads well for perimeter and area coverage and the only adjustment would be the speed on the unit. I had the Ryobi 18v 1 gal sprayer and got sick of the noise, quality, constantly filling up, and adjusting the spray pattern (to get your distance) filthing up your gloves or hands with chemicals. I also glued Velcro on the tanks and made Velcro label tags with a label maker so I can swap the labels and not forget what's inside. This helps when I have 2 tanks and saves me money by not purchasing more tanks with permanent labels. Lol. I like using termidor (or generic) and sometimes neem oil. What liquid fertilizer would you recommend? Thanks.

Unfortunately you can buy professional grade sprayers and just have multiples for your chems for cheaper than one of those sprayers and a couple of tanks. The particular one I use is actually quite a bit better of a sprayer than the Milwaukee and with a few cheap upgrades becomes no competition and smashes the Milwaukee. Milwaukee's a cool company, and they aren't afraid to take risks such as manufacturing this thing without figuring out a cheaper way to do it and keep their quality. Hopefully we'll see the prices come down in the future as they find better ways.

@@WorkshopAddict really?? Dam, i wanna return it and get another one, my concern is i got it for 180, and if i return it and do t have 1 in stock, they might want to refund me my money, where i would rather risk it and get another 1 (cause a good deal), and if that 1 is leaking, then return and then get money back.

Just bought two tanks and both leak. one much worse than the other but still, at that price I would expect it to be water tight. I tried Milwaukee E-service online and it says it is not an eligible item. I guess it's going back to Home Depot.

What would appeal to a much larger audience , one that spends lots of money, is making a foamer geared towards automotive detailers. I was thinking of trying to get one of these on sale at some point and modifying it into a foamer...

The price of the extra tanks is far too much, it kind of defeats the point when you can buy an entire new unit for the same price as 2 containers.

@@WorkshopAddict do you spray glypho on your fence line eliminating the need for a line trimmer? I'd love to see an "after" shot of round up being used as an "edger". I'm hesitant to spray it so close to my lawn in case of overkill. Was that glypho you used around the fire hydrant as well?
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 5 жыл бұрын
So.... The product I use for the fence line does have Glyphosate in it, but it also contains chemicals that will stop any other germination for 60 days. That means I spray less. Glyphosate works by stopping photosynthesis, so it only kills what it lands on. Spray it on low power and do not let it mist much. You will not have any issue. Yes, that is also around the hydrant. Since this is new lawn this year, I am catching up on the edging with the sprayer.

Two questions, is the backpack removable and is the wand removable. I have an oil change shop and I fill hand pump bug sprayers with coolant and windshield wiper fluid to put in cars. The wand is not attached when I buy these bug sprayers and I use them just fine without it. Was wondering if I would be able to use these without the long wand and backpack
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 5 жыл бұрын
Without the backpack (red portion of it) you would not have a motor. You can remove the straps. So you need the red and black plastic portion of the backpack to hold the battery and the motor. The wand is removable. You might want to look at the water supply tank as it might be more up your alley.
