In this video I walk through my experience with the Verizon 5G at home internet service. I was attempting to switch out my ISP and Verizon 5G appeared to be a good offer..
If you are considering Verizon's 5G for your home, please use this map to get a first good indication of coverage: www.verizon.com/coverage-map/
*** I would like to apologize for the poor production quality in this video. I have a new mic and I am working with a new video editor.

I just received my Verizon 5g home internet and all I did was plug it in and log in with the router credentials on the router and it worked no signing in nothing and I am getting 250-300mbps down and 15mbps works awesome so far. Good video thanks

I just got my unit for Verizon 5G Home Internet this week. I'm lucky with the signal, since I'm practically in the center of SF, when I opened the live map showing the 5G towers, they were all around me. Instead of the cube, Verizon shipped me the thinner unit with a window/wall mount. I sat the unit in the window and had a lock on a signal right away. I didn't get the higher price option, just the basic, but still getting anywhere from 450-550 Mbps down, and 250-350 up. It's only been a week, but will keep an eye on the speeds to see if they decline. From this video, it looks like you really need to be in the middle of a city to get great speeds.

It may be that the radio automatically chooses the strongest and closest tower, which happens to be only with sub 6Ghz 5G bands, even if in area you live another tower has ultra-wide 5G bands, to be honest I don’t understand why there is no option in the settings of the modem to manually choose another tower and to give you option to connect to an external long range antenna, that would be great in my opinion

I received my Verizon box today. It set up rather quickly. Mixed feelings about speed tests so far. I'm supposed to have one tower just over a couple streets, and there's another a couple more blocks over. The sales rep said they cap the number of users with access to each tower, but that seems unlikely. Several tests. My downloads are hitting around 150. The uploads have been all over the place, often hitting around 18 or 20, but even dipping to about 8. Never at the promoted 30. A few hours after setting things up it seemed like I lost connection all together and I reboot the box. It's storming outside, but the rep said weather won't affect this. If that's true I wonder why I lost service. And it seems like I should be getting faster speed than 150 with a tower so close.

So I just ordered the Verizon Home Internet, currently waiting for my router to arrive, but I was a little confused. For the Home Internet Plus, it says between 80-300mbps, but could be higher depending on location and signal? I heard you say it’s supposed to be between 300-1000.
@SolDoesTech
@SolDoesTech Жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching! You are correct that I did indeed state that the home plus plan provides 300-1000 Mbps while the standard 5G Home only gives you 85-300Mbps. The only thing to keep in mind is that you will need to be able to receive a 5G UW “High-band” signal to get the 300-1000Mbps on the plus plan, if you cant get that signal then you would default to the standard 85-300Mbps on 5G “mid-band” even if you pay for Plus. I didnt cover that in my video so thank you for bringing that to the comments. The full details of the plan speeds can be found here www.verizon.com/support/broadband-services/

@@SolDoesTech I appreciate the response. I was confused because I ordered through the app and it had the same exact info as the Standard Home Internet. I went with the plus, but realized why would I pay for the plus if it’s the same thing as standard. So I appreciate the clarification. Seems we have a lot of 5G towers where I’m at, so hoping for that 300-1000.

200mbps doesnt mean jack shit. These are all theoretical speeds & most of the time are manipulated. Try streaming high bandwidth videos simultaneous over 5G & open multiple browsers running different speed tests especially servers away from your location. Cloud servers & DNS revolvers play a bigger role & most importantly a proximity of the server you are getting connected to including # of users. Level 3 DNS is not the fastest any more & it is the backbone for Verizon network!

@@SolDoesTech No problem! Good video! I have a Verizon tower about 1 mile away from me and it's a 5G tower. Unfortunately though it's not mmWave. Putting the gateway in my top floor by my bedroom window actually lowered my ping and increased my speeds which I figured would happen. Seems it works best when you're able to get it higher up in your home to get rid of interference. I would not have kept the service if I had run into your situation though and it's refreshing to hear such a true review on KZfaq of a product like this.

Verizon is over rated & it doesnt matter if its 5G or future 10G. Fiber optic or hybrid systems like Spectrum & Comcast are much more consistent. Everybody brags about Verizon, but most have no clue about technology. I got basic spectrum with 300 MBPS & never had any problems with downloads. It may take a bit to upload a file over 2GB, but how many of us actually need high upload speeds? I will never pick 5G crap over Comcast or Spectrum cable modem.

Thank you for the comment! A hardwired connection like cable or fiber would always be a more reliable solution. I think the 5G solution is great for the price and its nice for people that dont want to deal with cabling like maybe an apartment or a small office. But.. it all depends on how close you are to 5G antenna and what kind of bandwidth you need on the regular. I myself ended up with Fiber and I am never looking back :) Thank you for watching!
